Today’s music: Special worship music this morning by the Knox Choir, Soloists, and Chamber Orchestra is from J.S. Bach’s Missa Brevis in A A growing reflection of God’s love. Major, BWV 234. Bach composed four missa breves in the 1730’s for Sunday morning worship services at the churches of St. Thomas and St. Nicholas in Leipzig, Germany. Each of the four settings features three choruses and three solos, setting the texts of the Kyrie and Gloria. The Knox congregation sings abbreviated responses of the Kyrie (Lord have mercy…) and Gloria Patri (Glory be to the Father…) each Sunday morning. Bach’s versions expand and embellish upon these Knox

congregational responses. Knox Choir last presented Bach’s Missa Brevis in A in Knox worship in 1997, 2000, 2008, and 2015. PRAYER FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT
