Program description: Ecuador, Argentina,Portugal, and Spain are four significant countries of the Latin atmosphere. Although these countries share common lines of understanding and looking at the world of architecture and design, the choice of these countries for this Ball State University CAP Americano Sur Study Abroad Program 2014 will allow the students discern the unique and distinct cultural, social, topographical, and urban conditions of the four nations by using a comparative, analytical perspective. Scheduled for the first summer session 2014 in this trip the students will visit selected cities: Guayaquil, Quito, Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Lisbon, Porto, Barcelona, Bilbao, San Sebastian, and La Coruña, and will participate in a 2-day workshop at Cordoba National University [invitation by Ian Dutari architect and chair of the department of architecture]. During the tour the students will also have the opportunity to meet, interview, interact, and learn from reputed Latin American architects: Ian Dutari, Claudio Ferrari, David Barragan, Alvaro Siza Vieyra, Diane Gray, Mauro Bianucci, and Santiago Cirugeda.
