  • Malpensa Airport North Railway Link: Impact of Expected Traffic Onto the Existing Network
Malpensa Airport North Railway Link: impact of expected traffic onto the existing network Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering Department of Civil Constructional and Environmental Engineering Master Degree in Transport Systems Engineering Candidate: Filippo Zanzarin - 1746819 Supervisor Co-supervisor Prof. Stefano Ricci Ing. Emmanuele Vaghi A.A. 2017-2018 ABSTRACT This work presents an analysis about the performances of the lines and the nodes involved in the upgrade process of Malpensa International Airport accessibility. This study is developed throughout a new complete analysis model consisting of the rational integration of existing methods. The methodology proposed and applied for the evaluation of the railway infrastructural upgrade solutions for the development of the connections between Milan and its airport is conveniently developed and improved according to the study requirements. The evaluation of line and node capacity is carried out considering the actual and future layouts of the railway network at a regional level and the actual and planned services offered by the railway supplier. The results obtained recommend infrastructural upgrades in order to make available the matching network capacity. The analysis of the lines and the nodes involved in this process, as well as the effectiveness of the proposed infrastructural improvements, is strengthened by a scheduling analysis and the application of a simulation method. i TABLE OF CONTENTS Abstract ..............................................................................................................................................

  • Surface Quality of Continuously Cast Products Bergamo - Italy 1-2 December 2016 Programme
International Workshop Surface quality of continuously cast products Bergamo - Italy 1-2 December 2016 programme www.aimnet.it/iwsq2016.htm Organised by Patronised by IWSQ Scope 2016 The surface quality of billets, blooms and slabs is a particularly important issue in order to assure the required surface quality of the final rolled products. This aspect is becoming increasingly significant especially nowadays, when a lot of steelmakers are refocusing their activity on the search for better surface quality or new specialty steels requiring high quality surface features. Moreover, the production of large size semis products and the use of the electromagnetic equipment have to be carefully performed to avoid any detrimental effects on the surface qualities. This international meeting aims to share the knowledge about the improvement of the surface quality of the continuously cast products and this scope will be achieved by clear expositions about: • the state of the art on the defect analysis; • the root cause of the defects; • presentation of innovative lubricating products; • updated criteria for the definition of the correct casting parameters; • application of electromagnetic devices. A focal point of the workshop will be the Panel Discussion on Casting Powders Technology with Prof. Ken Mills (Dept. of Materials, Imperial College) and two major experts of the field: Dirk Eckhardt (former Manager, Technical Dept., Stollberg GmbH) and Wilhelm Hubsch (former Product Fluxes Manager, Metallurgica GmbH).
