Producer’s note: A few months ago I was asked to produce another musical fund raiser similar to the Woody Guthrie Centennial concert in 2012. Broadway Musical Word went out and once again volunteers stepped forward to make the stage magic happen. With very little on-stage rehearsal time available, the musicians Review had to learn and practise the songs at home. Special kudos to the band as they had to learn all the songs in very little time and were so accommodating to the cast’s needs. My thanks to all the wonderful people who helped make this fundraiser come together. This was a perfect example of community theatre with folks coming from all parts of the Shuswap to share their talents and time. I would also like to thank the Shuswap Theatre Society’s Board of Directors for their support by giving me a free hand in this production. Please note, no picture taking, recording or cell phone use during the performance. About the Shows: An acoustic concert We had several criteria when selecting each show tune; someone presented by Jake Jacobson had to know it well enough to be the lead, it had to be fairly well- and friends as a fund raiser known, sing-along type songs were a high priority and we had to for have fun doing it ! Shuswap Theatre There was no script so the vocalists were encouraged to do the songs the way they wanted to. May 23, 24 & 25th, 2014 Our songs cover about 70 years of musical theatre. As a kid living in NYC, my parents took us to see all the Broadway Musicals. Back then they were all done acoustically (no amplification) so Net proceeds will be used to paint and fix up that is how we are doing it now. I hope you enjoy the show as the outside of the theatre building. much as we have enjoyed producing it.
