Magadan Oblast was established on December 3, 1953. Until 1992, the region included Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. The Oblast’s administrative, social and economic center is the city of Magadan, which has over 67% of the region’s population and is home to many large organizations. Magadan is 7,110 km away from Moscow.
