Method The portion accruing to the public utility responsible for supplying drinking water (31.7%) is analyzed from two perspectives in order to understand how the utility’s financial resources: 1. cover the expenses broken down according to SEDIF’s various missions; € 0.05 2. finance the utility’s various expenses according to their type: day-to-day operating expenses, asset maintenance and modernization. To ensure that water is safe for consumers, it must satisfy two key conditions: »»it must not contain microorganisms (bacteria, viruses or parasites) that could cause diseases; »»it must not contain concentrations of undesirable substances (nitrates, pesticides, heavy metals, etc.) that exceed the quality thresholds defined by the French public health code. Furthermore, drinking water must satisfy criteria related to color, taste and smell.
