Snails were collected and examined in 14 sites of Mae Lao agricultural basin from August 2016 to October 2017. A total of 1,688 snail individuals were collected and classified into 7 families, 8 genera, and 12 species. Snail diversity and habitat types were higher in rice paddies than irri- gation canals and streams. The most abundant species was Bithynia siamensis siamensis, representing 54.6% of the sample. Three species of snails act as first intermediate host were found with cercarial infections. They were Filopaludina sumatrensis polygramma, B. s. siamensis, and Melanoides tuberculata. The cercariae were categorized into 7 types; echi- nostome, monostome, gymnocephalous, virgulate, parapleurolophocercous, pleurolophocercous and megalurous cer- cariae. Parapleurolophocercous cercariae constituted the most common type of cercariae recovered, contributing 41.2% of all infections in snails. Echinostome metacercariae infections were found in 6 snail species with 7.6% prevalence. In addition, the metacercaria of avian trematode, Thapariella sp. were found in Filopaludina spp. -

At an average elevation of nearly 600 metres above sea level and covering an area of approximately 11,700 square kilometres, the province borders Myanmar to the north and Lao PDR to the north and northeast. The area is largely mountainous, with peaks rising to 1,500 metres above sea level. Flowing through the hill ranges are several rivers with the most important being the Kok River, near which the city of Chiang Rai is situated. In the far north of the province is the area known as the Golden Triangle, where the Mekong and Ruak Rivers meet to form the Oub Kham Museum borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Lao PDR. Forest Management by Local Wisdom-based and Policy Process by Mae Prik Subdistrict Administration Organization (SAO) Mae Suai, Chiang Rai PREFACE Mae Prik Subdistrict Administration Organization (SAO), Mae Suai, Chiang Rai, recognized the urgency of the problem in forest management. With the objectives of coexistence between local people and forest, locals making a living from it and the abundance of forests, Mae Prik SAO developed the innovation called ‘A Local Wisdom-based Policy Innovation in Forest Management’. This innovation was driven by cooperation and shared responsibilities between government, private sector and civil society for integration of the plans into action for each network partner. The network parties include the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation of Chiang Rai, Provincial office of Natural Resources and Environment Chiang Rai, Forest Fire Control Chiang Rai, Doi Luang National Park Protection Unit, Mae Suai District Administration Organization, Chiang Rai Provincial Administrative Organization, Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, The Mirror Foundation, Mae Prik subdistrict volunteer wildfire patrol team, and civil society. Promotion and Development of Community Participation in Protected Areas of Khun Lao Watershed, Khun Jae National Park, Chiang Rai Province Watershed Community Promotion and Development Section Watershed Conservation and Management Office Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation i Preface The Promotion and Development of Community Participation in Protected Areas (PPP) of Khun Lao watershed, Khun Jae National Park by the Khun Lao Watershed Management Unit under the 15th Protected Areas Regional Office (Chiang Rai) are able to achieve the activity objectives and respond to the mission of the National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) that people be living with the forest sustainably. These are accomplished by integration of the PPP activities with relevant sectors. Watershed Conservation and Management Office by Watershed Community Promotion and Development Section, which plays the role in setting the guidelines to promote the participation of local communities in the conservation of natural resources and responsible for the PPP activities. The section has collected the operating procedures, the successes, and analyzed the factors that contribute to the successes of the PPP activities as listed above during the fiscal year 2006 - 2018. This document has been prepared so that the relevant persons can apply as a guideline for the PPP activities or the others to promote the participation of local communities in accordance with the context of each area and also published to interested people.
