2. Lantau Island Tour with Vegetarian Lunch Monday – Saturday 08:00-16:30 hours Explore Hong Kong's largest outlying island just an hour's ferry ride away. The morning begins with a ferry trip from Central. Cruise through and pass islands dotted throughout the South China Sea to Lantau Island's Silvermine Bay (Mui Wo). From here, a coach takes you past the 2km long, white sands of Cheung Sha Beach and over the dramatic Shek Pik Reservoir dam. Visit the Tanka boat people's stilt-house fishing village at Tai O, then ride up to a 520m plateau to visit the famous Po Lin Monastery and view the world's largest seated, outdoor bronze Buddha. Exchange Square, Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, International Finance Centre and Central Plaza along the waterfront. There are other new and remarkable infrastructure landmarks, like Kowloon Expressway, Yaumati Typhoon Shelter and the nearby Stone-cutter’s Island which for many decades served as a British Royal Navy base until June 1997; but having be re-built is now a Chinese PLA Navy base. Macau Tour Daily 07:00-18:00 hours Macau, a Portuguese colony until Dec 1999, lies some 60 km west of Hong Kong across the estuary, is the oldest European settlement in the Far East dating back to 1557. More than 400 years of intermingling between Chinese and European cultures has given rise to a Macanese culture uniquely of its own. The tour will bring to you the historical sights of the Ruins of the St. Paul Church, the Museum of Macau (close on Monday,) the Temple of A-MA; a 400 years old temple in homage to a girl who saved seamen's life.
