We are all insisting that at least part of the original building is incorporated into the new development. CARLTON HILL CONSERVATION AREA American Express has recently submitted a planning application BH2009/01477 for 5 and 7 storey glass and steel office block immediately adjacent to the recently designated Carlton Hill Conservation Area, and its listed buildings: St John the Evangelist church (now the Greek Orthodox church), Tilbury Place (both just off the photo on the left) and the Mighel Street farmhouse (behind the office block). The proposal is to build the offices up to the pavement edge, making them particularly dominating, especially on Carlton Hill school (just to the left of the photo).
