OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL TOURISM IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF VRBAS Review Article Economics of Agriculture 1/2014 UDC: 338-44(1-22):502.131.1 OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL TOURISM IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF VRBAS Milutin Mrkša1, Tamara Gajić2 Summary Rural tourism is the tourism development in rural areas. Under the rural tourism means all tourism activities that take place in rural areas that require travel services in the same places. Therefore in order to develop rural tourism is necessary to create an offer that includes the involvement of the local population, to preserve the environment in the tourist areas and enable economic gain. All of the above suggests that this approach can talk about sustainable development of rural tourism. The paper presents Vrbas municipality and potential drawbacks for the development of sustainable rural tourism and proposed concrete measures. Key words: Rural tourism, environment, sustainable development. JEL: Q16, M24 Introduction At the beginning of the work it is necessary to look at the definition of sustainable development, rural development and rural tourism, as well as the basic principles of design and context of the proposed measures in further writing work. The concept of sustainable development has become the guiding principle of development policies in a growing number of organizations, from local to national levels. The roots of today’s forms of sustainable development dating back to the values of people that are non- renewable natural resources, there is a lot of negative human impacts on the environment and the need to define and adopt a development direction that will ensure their principles or combine three elements: economic, social and environmental and to the mutual relations of these elements, with the obligatory respect and combination, be progressive, but not right now and the future.

АРХЕОН год. 3, бр. 3 (2020): 357-362. 357 UDC 94(=411.16)(497.113) Radovan Sremac1 Museum of Naive Art “Ilijanum” (Šid) Serbia CONTRIBUTION TO THE GENEALOGY OF JEWISH FAMILIES IN THE TERRITORY OF VOJVODINA Abstract: The Jews are a specific national community that almosT disappeared during the Holocaust. Genealogy is extremely important to the Jewish people because it brings to- gether generations separated by the Holocaust. Genealogy can also help greatly to compile as accurate list of Holocaust victims as possible in terms of numbers and identities of vic- tims. The primary historical source for genealogical studies of the Jews is the Vital Records kept by rabbis in Jewish communities and rabbinates. Secondary but very important genea- logical sources are censuses, more specifically, censuses of Jews during the 18th and 19th cen- turies, as well as other documents produced primarily during the Holocaust. Keywords: Jewish genealogy, Vojvodina, Srem, Banat, Bačka, vital records, historical sources ExcepT for brief historiographical references to the origins of some famous Jew- ish families or individuals, there is almost no published research on Jewish genealogy in our country. Moreover, we can say that genealogy is generally not sufficiently represented in the scientific scene in Serbia and that it mainly “lives” only in the work of amateur historians who deal with it in the context of their own origins. Just like for other nations, the primary historical source for genealogical studies of the Jews is the Vital Records. The Jewish community was organized into small commu- nities and rabbinates on the territory of today's AP Vojvodina, i.e.

  • Tourism Potential of Serbian Protected Areas Dear Reader
ATLAS OF TOURISM POTENTIAL OF SERBIAN PROTECTED AREAS Dear reader, Serbia’s protected areas, the jewels of the country, contain nu- merous wonders of nature. A variety of rare, endangered animal and plant species can be observed in their natural habitat. Desi- gnating protected areas allows the provision of safe harbours for these species and ecosystems, which in many cases are unique. And promoting nature-respecting tourism and recreation in the- se areas not only allows visitors to explore these wonders, but also contributes to the livelihood of the people and communities who have lived in and shaped those landscapes over centuries. It is UNDP’s ambition, together with the authorities and people of Serbia, to support tourism and recreation in protected areas, so that you can explore their treasures. Hiking, bird watching, sport fishing, camping, but also adventurous activities, such as mountain biking, canyoning, paragliding or rafting, offer multiple opportunities for spending high quality time outdoors. Tourism infrastructure – like visitor centres, educational signalization, ob- servation towers and walking trails – are currently being built in all the protected areas to facilitate and guide visitors in exploring the nature, while enhancing the understanding and willingness to protect their unique character and inherent, rare species. I hope this “Atlas of Tourism Potential of Serbian Protected Are- as” will inspire you, guide you to remote corners of Serbia, and wake your curiosity to explore some of the most beautiful sides of this country. I would like to use the opportunity express my gratitude to the protected area managers for their valuable con- tribution in preparing it.

Yugoslavia, Federal Republic of Page 1 of 44 Yugoslavia, Federal Republic of Country Reports on Human Rights Practices - 2001 Released by the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor March 4, 2002 (The report on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia is discussed in three separate sections on Serbia, Kosovo, and Montenegro and addresses human rights situations in each of these entities. Since federal authority was exercised effectively only over the Republic of Serbia throughout the year, the human rights situations in Kosovo and Montenegro are dealt with in separate sections following this report.) The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Yugoslavia), a constitutional republic consisting of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Montenegro, has a president and a parliamentary system of government based on multiparty elections. Vojislav Kostunica was elected President of the Federation in elections held on September 24, 2000 that were closely contested; President Slobodan Milosevic ultimately was unable to manipulate the elections. Massive public protests forced Milosevic to recognize his defeat and cede power on October 6, 2000. Under the constitutional framework, the Federation encompasses the Republics of Serbia and Montenegro; however, the Montenegrin Government has refused to participate in many of the functions of the Federal Government and has acted unilaterally in several areas. The Federal Government presides over a weakened structure, with responsibilities essentially limited to the Foreign Ministry, the Yugoslav Army (VJ), the Customs Administration, civil aviation control, and foreign economic and commercial relations. Although President Kostunica enjoyed wide popular support, significant power was concentrated at the republic level where, in Serbia, Prime Minister Djindjic exercises significant executive authority.
