Le Rosé de Giscours 2019 CSPC# 843938 750mlx6 13.0% alc./vol. Grape Variety 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot Appellation Margaux Classification Appellation Bordeaux Rosé Controlée Website http://chateau-giscours.com/ General Info Classified Third Cru in the 1855 classification, the exceptional quality of Château Giscours wines is still at the top of the Margaux appellation! Under the leadership of Alexander Van Beek, the cru continued its incredible rise, thanks in particular to significant progress in the vineyard and in the cellar. This rosé is also a great success from the estate! Bordeaux Rosé: In Gironde, only the regional Bordeaux appellation is available in rosé. Thus, it is possible to produce Bordeaux rosé and Bordeaux claret on the territory of the five hundred and three communes located in the geographical area of the department. Light red obtained by a weak maceration of red grapes, Claret is none other than the worthy descendant of French Claret, which, already in the Middle Ages, the English were fond of. Terre de Vin used the title of "War and Peace" to describe the 2018 vintage in Bordeaux so much the winegrowers feared the worst and obtained the best. In the end, we discover superb wines. Winemaker Lorenzo Pasquini Vintage The 2019 Margaux appellation on the whole shared much of the same growing conditions as experienced by the other appellations in the Medoc. The vintage in the Left Bank got off to a slow start with April, May and June having problems, due to a lack of sun and too much rain. Flowering began at the end of May. June did not look as though it was going to help the growing season as much of the month was cool and rainy. By the start of the summer, (late June) things began turning around and the grapes enjoyed heat, dry conditions, sunshine, and cool nights. Small amounts of precipitation in late July, August and again in September, fortunately arrived at the perfect moment, allowing the grapes to achieve phenolic ripeness. The final piece of the puzzle came through when harvesting took place under very good conditions. Vineyards The famous Château Giscours extends its vineyard to the Margaux appellation, in the south of the Médoc. Eighty hectares of vines are spread around this magnificent neoclassical castle, which gives pride of place to cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc but also petit verdot. Harvest The grapes were harvested in the early morning of September 3rd. Winemaking Only the first "press juices" have been gently extracted and fermented at low temperatures giving to the wine a lot of delicacy. Tasting Notes A unique creation reflecting the elegance and freshness that lead the elaboration of our Grand Cru Classé Château Giscours. A plot of Cabernet Sauvignon has been chosen and especially conducted for a year-long to elaborate this aromatic Rosé full of freshness. This Rosé de Giscours shows a beautiful light colour, with subtle aromas of white flowers and offers an elegantly harmonious palate. A perfect balance between roundness and energy!
