Workshop organization Organized under the auspices of the International Language Testing Association (ILTA), the Workshop entitled Promoting European Assessment Standards in Romania aimed to fill in the gap between intended official policies, actual policies and current practices (policy in use) in the field of foreign languages, by assisting teachers with understanding and applying relevant descriptors from the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) in order to enhance the quality of test development and examination procedures. The 3,000 US dollar grant generously awarded by the International Language Testing Association (ILTA) contributed to ensuring the good organization of the two-day workshop for a group of 33 participants coming from 4 different Romanian counties (Prahova, Dambovita, Buzau, Brasov), as well as the travel costs, accommodation, and honorarium of the invited keynote speaker and Workshop leader, dr. Jana Bérešová, Head of the English Language and Literature Department, Trnava University, Slovakia. The divide between urban and non-urban areas seems to be signi- ficantly divisive in this respect. While in recent years efforts to reach out to local communities have multiplied and “periphe- ral” or “inner” areas have got more attention, much remains unknown about local communities’ perceptions, understanding and implementation of EU policies at the local level.   • Social Economy in Prahova County
    SOCIAL ECONOMY IN PRAHOVA COUNTY Cristina TOMESCU* Abstract: This article presents the results of a study conducted in Prahova County on the social economy, focusing on employment of the disfavoured groups such as the Roma, the people near retirement age, the young graduates and the people with disabilities. The programs developed by the local institutions aim to support the inclusion of the unemployed on the labour market through programs run by the employment agency and by providing financial support during the period of unemployment. A viable solution to solve the problems of social integration of the disfavoured groups by work might be the development of social economy forms at the local level, the local organisations playing a key role. Keywords: social economy, disfavoured group, unemployment, social inclusion, European funds. Economic and social profile of the county Characteristics of the entrepreneurial economic sector Prahova County is located in the central part of Romania; it has surface of 4.716 kmp and a population of 872.900 inhabitants and a density of 184, 9 inhabitants/kmp. It contains 100 localities: two towns, 12 cities and 86 communes; the rate of urbanization is 52, 4%. The administrative residence of the county is Ploiesti, with a population of 252.715 inhabitants, on the 9th place in Romania as number of inhabitants. Romania is a country with a very varied and diverse tourism potential and a landscape consists of 27.91% mountains of total country area, with altitudes between 600 – 2500 m, an average height of 840 m and 10% of the country’s territory above 1500 m (Cernaianu et al, 2017). In Romania the winter sports tourism are focused on the skiing activity and ski resorts. There are some 27 licensed ski areas in Romania with around 80 authorized ski slopes, and a variety of ski lifts, gondolas, chair lifts, skid lifts and cable cars with a capacity of over 35,000 persons an hour serving these areas (Romania National Tourism Master Plan 2007 – 2026). There is heavy demand at weekends during the winter when snow conditions are favorable. Sport event tourism is a huge and growing global industry with important economic implications for both the sport, the event and the impact of travel and tourism related benefits on host destinations (Candrea et al, 2010). The most popular winter touristic destinations in Romania are: Poiana Brasov, Predeal, Sinaia. Previous quantitative marketing research outlined that 45% of tourists are entirely satisfied with the quality of the accommodation units in Braşov city and 37.9% of tourists feel the same way about Poiana Braşov (Candrea et al, 2010).

    STUDIA UBB GEOGRAPHIA, LVIII, 2, 2013, pp. 111 ‐ 120 (RECOMMENDED CITATION) SETTLEMENTS IN PRAHOVA COUNTY. GIS ANALYSIS OF TOPONYMY IONUȚ TUDOSE1 ABSTRACT. ‐ Settlements in Prahova County. GIS analysis of Toponymy. This paper proposes a method of using GIS tools in spatial analysis of the oikonyms in Prahova County, in order to identify specific links between names and geographical or historical characteristics of the area. In the present paper two types of analysis were performed. The first one was made on oikonyms sorted by suffixes, yielding results of their frequency in the territory. The second one was made on oikonyms composed with word "Valley", establishing the link between their distribution on one side and the character of the valley for studied settlements, on the other side. The results show that territorial analysis of oikonyms can clarify spatial aspects, needed for the affirmation of national, historical and social identity. Keywords: settlements, Prahova, analysis, GIS, toponymy, oikonyms 1. INTRODUCTION Toponymy (from gr. Τόπος, place + ὄνομα, name) is the science that deals with the research of place names. "Oikonym" is a term proposed by Ion Conea for human settlement name, from the Greek oicos = home + onyma = name (Palamariu, 2002). A GIS is an informational system that allows the capture (the introduction), storage, integration, manipulation, processing and visualization of data that have spatial reference (Imbroane, 2012, p. 33). The link between toponymy, as a science and research object, and GIS, as a tool and research method, is quite fragile in Romanian geography. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to identify the relationship between space and oikonyms with specific morphological structure using GIS analysis tools.

Three shelters, each one with two compartments. The infected compartment was that from the shelter no. 2, compartment A. In the infected compartment were kept 13314 chickens. First signs of disease: on 07.04.2016, until the date of confirmation, 975 chicken died. Suspicion: notified by phone by the County Veterinary Authority (SVFSD), on 8-th of April; restriction on poultry movement established, measures according with the provisions of the Council Directive 92/66/EEC. Confirmation: 12 samples were analyzed at the National Reference Laboratory by RT-PCR and anathomo-pathologically, and reacted positive on 9.04.2016. Immunization, epidemiological investigation primary outbreak: Gornet locality • The farmer has two more other commercial holdings, of the same capacity; one of them, in Magurele, was also infected as a secondary outbreak. • The poultry have been immunized three times: on 07.03.2016, on 17.03.2016, the last one on 03.04.2016 with a live, attenuated vaccine. • Even the farmer declared that the flock was vaccinated, the antibodies tittered in the laboratory on 18 samples were found at a low level.
