The project for Hydroelectrical Power Plant Doftana was qualified in 2010 for grants in the „Program for increasing the production of energy from renewable sources”, financed by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. Bawanur Dam: Embankment dam with central clay core and gravity concrete dam, which ensures after its construction a reservoir with a volume of water at normal operatig level of 19 millions m3

1. The dam body, formed by an embankment dam with a central core (sealing) and a concrete gravity dam, has a total length of 880 m, a maximum height of 23 m above the footing bottom and a maximum width of 150 m at its toe. pg. 14

In the dam body there are integrated the following hydraulic structures: spillway with 6 segment gates: BxH=14x9.5, 10 bottom outlets with diameter of 3000 mm, eqquipped with plane knife gates, hydropower plant eqquipped with 4 Kaplan vertical turbines with a power output of 4x8=32 MW. 3. Design of hydraulic structures is based on hydrograph calculation on Darbandikhan reservoir section (Volume at normal operating level = 2500 millions m3 ), on Sirwan river, located 40 km upstream of Bawanur Dam: flood discharge for Bawanur dam spillway (Q1/10 000) is 5740 m3/s.
