Once again we find ourselves in a National lockdown. We can only go out for limited reasons and are cut off physically from a lot of our friends and family. These times can be challenging so its so important to take time to look after yourselves and make sure you are staying physically and mentally well. To help give you some tips and keep you linked to your staff here at Codsall – I have asked the Discovery tutors to share with you how they are coping with the pressures and stresses of lockdown! This week the focus is on Miss Ford – check out the next few slides to see what her top tips are! Please stay safe and I’ll see you soon! Have a lovely week ☺ Miss Ford’s Lockdown Top Tips January 2021 In order to take care of my mental health during lockdown… • I have been reading books such as Restore Me to help me relax and calm my mind down when I am stressed! • I have been going on walks around my village every day after work. I find just a simple change of scenery really helpful. It’s like hitting the reset button. I’m lucky to live in a rural area, so I usually to take some photographs whilst I’m out walking. • I don’t watch all of the Covid-19 news briefings – I usually just read a brief summary of them at the Simple Politics Instagram account. This helps me tune some of the Covid-19 bad news out! In order to take care of my mental health during • I find having a relaxing playlist on Spotify helpfullockdown…. I’m always listening to music when I’m working. Here’s some of the songs on my own playlist! → • Working at home is quite tough – it’s hard to have separation between ‘work’ and ‘home’ when you’re working from home! I’ve been using our study in the day to work in, as opposed to working in our lounge, which has helped me to mentally separate my work from where I relax. When I want to ‘switch off’ from work I usually play on my PS4 as it’s good escapism. I’ll have a few games on COD or FIFA after planning my lessons in the evenings. Going on my treadmill or watching Netflix with my fiancé is also a great way to escape for a while. • I make sure I keep in contact with family and friends daily. I found the last lockdown tough, so I’m making sure I keep in contact with people. Zoom is great for that. I run Zoom quizzes with my family so that we can still have fun together even if we can’t all be together. • Lastly, I love my job! I like to keep busy with school work and with my masters work, which is really good for my mental health, as it makes me feel fulfilled. WEEKLY THOUGHT: “New Hobbies can help. Give them a try.” Living in these strange times can be hard on our mental health. There are people who can help.
