Clean water is essential for life, but most people in the developed world don’t think much about the water they use for drinking, food preparation and sanitation. INTENT- is Of the Students, By the In developing nations however, the search for safe drinking water can be a daily crisis. Million of people die each year, Students and For the Students. most of them are children from largely preventable diseases An event conducting team, tailored exclusively for the students of Computer Science and Engineering. Events such as workshops, seminars, exhibition, webinars etc., are organized and delivered by students of the depart- ment to enhance analytical skills, logical skills, verbal communication and many more benefiting to students. People from industries are invited to interact and guide the students to face the competitive world. The model of INTENT is inspired by the functioning of technical teams of IIT Bombay. The main fields of focus are: o Developing Management Skills in the Students. caused by lack of access to clean water and proper sanitation. o Enhancing the technical skills. Volume: 01 Issue: 03 Page: 03 Harnessing the Power of the Sun Solar Power Plant Visit India is a country with more than 121 Crore people officially for more than 17% of world’s population. It is the seventh largest country in the world with overall land area of 3,287,263 sq kilometers. India measures 3214 km from north to south and 2993 km from east to west. It has a land frontier of 15,200 km and coast- line of 7,517 km. India has 28 states and 8 union territories. It faces a formidable challenge in providing adequate energy supplies to users at a reasonable cost. It is expected that India’s nominal GDP will exceed day by day as compared to developed countries like UK, US. India aims to achieve 175 gigawatts (GW) of renewable by 2022. India further commits to increase its renewable energy capacity to 450 GW. While the timing is unclear, recent government reports indicate 2030 as the target year for the 450 GW target. In- dia’s current electric grid-size is around 362 GW. Renewable energy capacity at 82.5 GW is 23% of total installed electricity capacity. The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Sri Siddhartha Institute Of Technology, Tumakuru had organized an Industrial visit to Solar power plant situated in Sri Siddhartha Medical College and Hospital, Tumakuru on 1st and 2nd of March 2021 for E&EE Students. A solar power plant is a facility that converts sunlight either directly, like photovolta- ic or indirectly like solar thermal plants into electricity. They also come in variety of types with different techniques. In the following article, we will get to know about solar power plant that harnesses energy from the sun to produce electricity and experience of our solar power plant visit. Solar power generation technologies are important for providing a major share of clean and suitable energy needed in future, because they are the cost effective among renewable power generation technologies.
