II. parWolfgang GRAACK Ulmenweg 2 D-30900 WEDEMARK, ALLEMAGNE REsUME : Cet article est base sur Jcs rccoltes effectuees au cours d'un voyage dc trois semaines en Corsc en ctc 1990, dans une region choisie selon des criteres geologiques et petrographiqucs : trois zones de calcairc et conglomerat du Miocene infelieur et moyen (voir carte) situees dans Je Nord de l'ile, autour de Saint-Florent, d'Olctta, er au Sud de Ponteleccia ; une cxcursion a egalement ete faite dans le Sud-Est ä Solenzara pour retrouvcr Ia localite type d 'Azeca ren~yi, mais cette especc n 'a pu etre recoltcc. Au total 27 stations ont ete echantillonnecs (§3), et 43 cspeces de mollusques terrestres et fluviatiles ont ete recoltccs (§4 : les chiffres qui suivent le nom dc l'cspece correspondent au numcro des stations ou eile a ete rencontree). A cause dc la sechcresse, il s'agit presque exclusivemcnt dc coquilles vides, ce qui n'a pas permis de confirmcr ccrtaines identifications (especes marquees• "cf." dans la Iiste). Les coquilles ont ete ramassees a Ja main, et dans certaincs Stations Ja Jitiere a en outre ete tamisee pour recueillir dc petites especcs. Certaincs especes sont examinecs de maniere plus approfondie dans la suite de l'article (§5.1). Des statistiques sont donnces sur lcs dimensions de Planorbis cj mvquini (les donnees sont comparces ä celles dc l'etudc dc Giusti, 1976) ; Oxychilus (Ortizius?) tropidophoms ; Ceciloides janii (compare avcc Hohemvartiana /zohenwarti) ; Xerosecta cespitum cf erratica; Cernuella virgata (verifie anatomiquement) et Cemuella cf neglecta , dcux especes vivant en sympatric. Cernuella cj neglecta est un peu plus haute quc C. neglecta, et se rapproehe de C. aginnica ; les dimcnsions de cettc forme sont comparees avec celles de populations du continent (Italic, Yougoslavie, Pays-Bas). Pour Ozondrina (Solatopupa) guidoni guidoni, Ia nomcnclature est rappclCe; ii s 'agit d 'une sous-espece endemiquc dc Corse. Tacheocampylaea cf raspaili se diffcrcncie dc T. brocardi par l'anatomie, mais il n'a pas ete recolte dc specimens vivants. T. brocardi est plus rare sur le calcaire, c'est pourquoi l'especc est identifiee comme T. raspaili. SUMMARY : In summer 1990 another joumey to Corsica was undertakcn in ordcr to learn about the molluscan fauna in a rcgion that was chosen for its geological and petrographical peculiarities, and w search for poorly known spccies that wcre not, or scarcely, found during the joumcys made in 1981 and 1987 (GRAACK 1991). EINLEITUNG Im Sommer 1990 wurde eine weitere Reise auf die Insel Korsika unternommen, um in einem nach geologisch-petrographischen Gesichtspunkten ausgewähltem Gebiet (cf. Carte Topographique) die Molluskenfauna kennen zu lernen und nach weniger bekannten Arten zu suchen, die auf den Reisen 1981 und 1987 nicht oder nur spärlich gefunden wurden (GRAACK 1991). Die Aufsammlungen sollen hier mit Anmerkungen zu ausgewählten Arten dokumentiert werden. Es wurden 43 Arten, einige mit unklarer Identität gefunden. Für die Bestimmungshilfen von Pisidien und Übersetzungshilfen aus der französischen Sprache sowie kritischer Durchsicht des Manuskriptes möchte ich mich bei Herrn Dr. M. Adler (Gomaringen) und für anatomische Untersuchungen sowie Hinweise bezüglich der Helicellen bei Herrn B. Hausdorf (Stein) bedanken. Ebenfalls möchte ich Dank sagen Herrn Dr. C. Meier - Brook (Tübingen) für die Bestimmung und für kritische Anmerkungen zu den Planorbidae. Einen besonderen Dank auch meiner Frau Brigitte für die eifrige Mithilfe beim Sammeln im Felde, wodurch die Ausbeute um vieles umfangreicher wurde und für die Aufbereitung der Funde. 2. SAMMELGEBIET Diese Reise erstreckte sich über den Zeitraum vom 16. Juli 1990 bis 7. August 1990 und die Hauptsammetgebiete lagen im Norden der Insel (Kartenskizze 1 und 2). Ein Abstecher führte in den Südosten nach Solenzara, um den Originalfundort der /tzeca (Hypnophila) ren~yi C. R. BOETTGER 1949 57 aufzufinden. Das Hauptsammergebiet beschränkte sich auf drei Areale, bestehend aus bioklastischen Kalken und Konglomeraten aus dem unteren bis mittleren Miozän (Geol. Karte, Blatt 44/45, 1980). Das Hauptareal lag um St. Floren! unct das zweite kleinere westlich von Oletta (Kartenkizze 1). Das dritte Areal erstreckte sich südlich von Ponte Leccia (Kartenskizze 2) . Die ungefähren Grenzen der kaU<haltigen Areale sind auf den Kartenskizzen durch eine Strich - Punkt - Linie markiert. Die Fundortnummern auf den Skizzen korrespondieren mit der Lfd.Nr. in der Beschreibw1g der Fundorte. 3. FUNDORTBESCHREIBUNG Nachfolgend nun die Beschreibung der Fundorte und eine Auflistung der ebenen Koordinaten der Fundorte unterschiedlicher geodätischer Systeme, wie sie in dem französischen topografischem Kartenwerk benutzt werden. Die laufende Numerienmg findet sich hinter den Arten in der systematischen Auflistung wieder. UTM- Koordinaten: UTM: Universale Transversale Mercatorprojektion, Zone 32, Europäisches Datum (ED SO). A systematic analysis of molecular markers, however, is revealing a huge number of previously unsuspected cryptic species, as in the scarab genus Pachypus Dejean, 1821 (Coleoptera Pachypodidae). Other molecular studies have revealed very deep phylo - geographic structure in the Corsican brook salamander; the presence of six or more species hitherto lumped under Rumina decollata (Linnaeus, 1758) (Pulmonata Subulinidae), in a snail genus in which biparental and uniparental reproduction coexist; the conservation of the same male pheromone in vicariant species of the scarab beetles of the genus Osmoderma Lepeletier et Serville, 1828 (Coleoptera Cetoniidae); the interplay of vicariance and dispersal events in giving rise to the different taxa of the land snail genus Chilostoma Fitzinger, 1833 (Gastropoda Helicidae) inhabiting the Greek islands. Further examples of modern biogeographic studies are a morphometric analysis revealing the preferential localization of steep slopes of phenetic diversity of seven butterfly species groups in the Tuscan archipelago and across the Strait of Messina; a research on tenebrionid beetles showing that present distribution patterns are not completely explained by postglacial recolonization from Pleistocenic refugia; a comparative analysis of the diversity of patterns (explained in part by vicariance, in part by dispersal) in the biota on the two shores of the Strait of Gibraltar.

James Harris2 Abstract Background: Mediterranean islands host a disproportionately high level of biodiversity and endemisms. Growing phylogeographic evidence on island endemics has unveiled unexpectedly complex patterns of intra-island diversification, which originated at diverse spatial and temporal scales. We investigated multilocus genetic variation of the Corsican-Sardinian endemic lizard Podarcis tiliguerta with the aim of shedding more light on the evolutionary processes underlying the origin of Mediterranean island biodiversity. Results: We analysed DNA sequences of mitochondrial (12S and nd4) and nuclear (acm4 and mc1r) gene fragments in 174 individuals of P. tiliguerta from 81 localities across the full range of the species in a geographic and genealogical framework. We found surprisingly high genetic diversity both at mitochondrial and nuclear loci. Seventeen reciprocally monophyletic allopatric mitochondrial haplogroups were sharply divided into four main mitochondrial lineages (two in Corsica and two in Sardinia) of Miocene origin. In contrast, shallow divergence and shared diversity within and between islands was observed at the nuclear loci. We evaluated alternative biogeographic and evolutionary scenarios to explain such profound discordance in spatial and phylogenetic patterning between mitochondrial and nuclear genomes. While neutral models provided unparsimonious explanations for the observed pattern, the hypothesis of environmental selection driving mitochondrial divergence in the presence of nuclear gene flow is favoured.
