** = Captain ## = Master Tally Francis T. Maloney High School Instrumental Music Department 2018 PERFORMANCE TRIPS STUDENT GUIDELINES/CONTRACT

Musical performance tours and trips can be one of the best experiences a group can encounter. From the sites where they take place, to the music they perform, to the memories they create and treasure, trips such as this provide opportunities and learning like no other. In order for this trip to achieve these goals, students need to understand the rules and guidelines set forth in order to ensure the success of this and future trips.

While on this trip, school rules apply at ALL TIMES. You are a Maloney High School student and are expected to follow all rules in the Maloney Student Handbook.

Additional items, which you are expected to understand and abide by are as follows:

• You will be assigned a chaperone for the duration of the trip. You are never to go anywhere without the permission and knowledge of your chaperone. There are absolutely no exceptions to this rule. We must know where you are at all times. • The possession of illegal substances and/or substances not prescribed to you is punishable by removal from the trip, disciplinary action and in many cases arrest. This includes the possession of drugs that are not called out on your medication sheet included in this packet as well as tobacco or vapor products. • We are very aware that there are students in relationships with other students on this trip. We expect couples to be appropriate at all times and limit public displays of affection. We also expect bus behavior to be appropriate at all hours. • The sharing of medication (over-the-counter or prescription) is a major violation of school policy and is in many cases illegal. There is to be no sharing of any medication for any reason. • Medical conditions change from time-to-time. It is up to parents to ensure that we have the most up-to-date medical information and equipment when we depart, including EPI pens, any drugs we need to carry for your student or other pertinent information. • The United States TSA (Transportation Security Administration) has many rules and guidelines that have been furnished to you in this packet. You need to be sure these rules are followed. • The utmost care must be taken when you are on a plane, bus, in your hotel room, or in any restaurant or performance facility. You are responsible for the care and appropriate use of whatever is entrusted to you. Any damages will be billed to you. • A lights out time is in effect each night. This time is set by the director each night. Also, quiet hours begin at 10:00pm. You MUST, per the hotels orders remain quiet after 10:00pm. If we enter the hotel after 10:00pm, we must be quiet and respectful towards other guests. • Security staff is hired by us to monitor hallways during the late night and morning hours. Room doors are not to be opened once you are checked for the night. You are not to open the door for anyone except your teacher or chaperone. You should not open your door for security guards. The guards will contact your teachers if there are issues on the floors. • Horseplay and childish behavior will not be permitted at any time on the trip. Any behavior deemed inappropriate will result in immediate disciplinary action. This includes inappropriate behavior in the hotel, destination facilities, misuse of busses, and the inappropriate use of the hotel room. • Room service, movie rentals or other hotel services are not to be used. • All rooms will be inspected by instructors, security guards and chaperones at the beginning and end of the trip, before lights out and at any time deemed necessary. • The director and chaperones reserve the right to search a room, bag, case or any personal item at any time. • All bottled products such as shampoo, juice, soda, etc, must be brought on the trip factory sealed. No open or partially used products are allowed. • Bus and room assignments are to be strictly followed. • Airlines have very strict policies and guidelines. You must follow these with the utmost of care. Any problems concerning behavior, luggage, personal items, carry- on items or personal identification puts the entire trip in jeopardy.

Students need to remember that as a participant on this trip you are representing Maloney High School. You must be respectful, courteous and mature at all times on this trip. You must use common sense and think before you act. If anything inappropriate occurs during this trip including but not limited to specifics on this list, disciplinary action will take place. If something severe occurs, we will immediately make arrangements to have you removed from the trip and sent home and local law enforcement will be contacted if necessary. We expect each and every member to represent our school in a courteous, mature and respectful manner at all times throughout this trip.

Please take this seriously. We can all make mistakes if we are not careful. Think before you act. We need your most professional behavior in order for this trip run smoothly. We have a great trip planned for you. Please do your part to ensure that you are able to enjoy it.

**PLEASE NOTE THE ABOVE INFORMATION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANYTIME WITHOUT NOTICE BY JETBLUE AND TSA.**

PLEASE READ OVER THE PROVIDED TSA LIST THAT ADVISES WHAT IS PERMITTED IN CARRY ONS AND CHECKED LUGGAGE. Carry-on Baggage Screening Carry-on Baggage Screening in Standard Lanes TSA screens approximately 4.9 million carry-on bags for explosives and other dangerous items daily. Here’s what to expect when taking your carry-on bag through security screening next time you fly. Electronics As TSA rolls out new carry-on screening procedures, you will be asked to remove personal electronic devices larger than a cell phone from your carry-on bag and place them into a bin with nothing placed on or under them for X-ray screening. Common examples of these devices include laptops, tablets, e-readers and handheld game consoles. This does not include items such as hair dryers, electric shavers or electric toothbrushes.

Food Consider removing food or snacks such as fruit, health bars and sandwiches from your carry-on bag and placing it in a bin. Removing food is not a requirement but doing so may help the bag check process. A TSA officer will be available to guide you through the process.

Packing If you are preparing for your flight, be aware that how and what you pack can impact the screening process. Be sure that you check for prohibited items and remember to follow the 3-1-1 liquids rule. We recommend keeping your bag organized to help ease the screening process as it takes time for TSA officers to make sure a jam-packed, cluttered, overstuffed bag is safe.

Liquids Rule

You are allowed to bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes in your carry-on bag and through the checkpoint. These are limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item. Placing these items in the small bag and separating from your carry-on baggage facilitates the screening process. Pack items that are in containers larger than 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters in checked baggage.

Any liquid, aerosol, gel, cream or paste that alarms during screening will require additional screening.
