The species of the subfamily are distributed worldwide, except in Greenland, Iceland and some smaller islands of the Pacific (Gaston et al. 1995, Hausmann 2004, Sihvonen & Siljander 2005). Raha Abstract The Geometridae Stephens, 1829 are considered as an excellent model group to study insect diversity patterns across elevational gradients globally. This paper documents 168 species of Geometridae belonging to 99 genera and 5 subfamilies from different Protected Areas in a Western Himalayan state, Uttarakhand in India. The list includes 36 species reported for the first time from Uttarakhand, which hitherto was poorly explored and reveals significant altitudinal range expansion for at least 15 species. We sampled different vegetation zones across an elevation gradient stretching from 600 m up to 3600 m, in Dehradun-Rajaji landscape, Nanda Devi National Park, Valley of Flowers National Park, Govind Wildlife Sanctuary, Gangotri National Park and Askot Wildlife Sanctuary. -

Field observations were made once in ten days for a year. Identified the species based on their colour of wings, markings, body shape, habit, wing shape, and structure of legs. During one year survey at three different sites such as cropland, plantation and forest,we recorded 69 species of 23 families and 8 orders. In three study areas, higher species richness was recorded at plantation with more number of species in order Lepidoptera indicating availability and access to food plants. In Cropland contains Order Lepidoptera only. The present study reveals that the plantation provides suitable environmental conditions for insects. Wing colour ash-grey, postmedian line, median shade and antemedian line on all wings vague, nearly invisible, on forewing costa enlarged to rather small costal spots. Cell spot hardly visible, small, punctiform, near marginal area of wing. Frons black. Palpus very short and slender: length about 0.25 mm = half diameter of eye. 9 antenna simple, almost without cilia. Tongue developed, length about 1.5 mm. 9 genitalia: Ostium bursae trianguliform, corpus bursae globular, densely spinulous. Diagnosis. In 9 genitalia of the nominate subspecies ostium bursae rectangular. In Idaea microptera spines of the corpus bursae are less sclerotised, bursa much smaller. Furthermore in Idaea microptera the ostium bursae poorly sclerotised. -

Area of study: Research was carried out in Muğla province, Ula district, Gökova, Akyaka Forest Camp. Material and methods: Butterfly and moth samples were collected between in 2018-2020 with net and mercury vapour lamp. Specimens were arranged according to standard methods and diagnosed. Materials were stored at Entomology Laboratory of Batman University. Main results: In total, 133 species were identified and, 31 of them are new discovered in Muğla province. Highlights: Lepidoptera species of Muğla province, especially Geometroidea and Pyraloidea groups, have not been well studied. The results of the research contribute to the elimination of this deficiency. In addition, information on the vegetation of the study area is given for the first time. Eastern Pine Processionary Moth (Thaumetopoea wilkinsoni Tams, 1925), which is an oligofag defoliator in pine forests, has been observed with the high population density in the research area.
