PRESIDENT’S REPORT It has been a very rewarding year at Cherrybrook Senior & Little Athletics’ and I thank Sean O’Connor for his work as President over the last few years at Cherrybrook. We welcomed a number of new committee members this season and with the experienced devotees on the committee throughout the 2016-2017 Athletics season, we completed another successful year. Athletics is a Volunteer sport and special thanks to all the officials, coaches, age managers, newsletter writers, recorders, starters, timing gate operators, canteen, BBQ operators, and all the committee members for having the club organised for championships, zone and region committees, ensuring we are registered correctly and prepared for each season, and to the parents always willing to assist when required. Your help and support reflected our club spirit again this season. With a large majority of the work done ‘behind the scenes’ by the committee, to continue and improve the smooth running of our fantastic club. I would like to thank and congratulate Craig Little everyone involved to help this club function each week. This year we worked closely with Hornsby council and the ground was GPS marked, we had consistency in the track measurements all season, furthermore, the overall quality of the grass track was maintained in a high standard throughout the season. All athletes performed well, achieving a total of 7999 PBs on Friday night competitions and represented Cherrybrook proudly at representative level including the Trans Tasman, State Cross Country and walks, LANSW State Relays, Zone, Region, LANSW State Multi Event Carnival, LANSW State Championships with 51 athletes qualifying and 2 athletes at the Australian Little athletics championship held in April. I would like to congratulate Amie Bowrey, Donovan Bradshaw on their achievements to be selected in the NSW team for the ALAC championship. I congratulate all our athletes on how they have performed, sportsmanship shown on Friday night and at competitions. My hope is that you have enjoyed your athletics experience this year and will be back next year. It’s a pleasure being associated with Cherrybrook athletics. At a Senior Level the Club enjoyed another very successful season with strong performances across the Treloar Shield, Club Championships and throughout the State and National Championship season. For the Australian Championships 35 Athletes qualified and competed at an Age Group level and 12 Athletes competed in the Open Division. This year a Cherrybrook athlete achieved a World Record, the first in our club’s history. Congratulations to Holly Saunders who broke the record in the Para Women’s T/F35 . Nick Andrews was selected to run in the Australian 4x100m team which finished 4th at the World Relays – An amazing performance. Cherrybrook athletes also had success in the World Masters Indoor championships, with Sally Stagles winning the 60M Hurdles and Jill Taylor in the Hammer throw. Thank you to our sponsors - West Pennant Hills Sports Club, Belle Property, and Quantam Sphere for their continued support and I look forward to maintaining our relationship with them in the future. Further it was great to see so many dual athletes competing on Saturday afternoons throughout Sydney, competing as a dual athlete is an excellent way to develop, and to try some new events which are only offered in the senior athletics competitions.

In the next Athletics season the club will be introducing a new uniform, with an innovative new design and better quality moisture working materials. This uniform will be for both Junior and senior athletics. Thank you again to our dedicated and committed committee. A special mention to outgoing committee members, Sean O’Connor, Phil Smillie, Sandra Hughes, Jill Ingram and Elizabeth Jones.

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS STATE CROSS COUNTRY 26 June 2016, Browns Mountain near Nowra This year’s State Cross country was back out of Sydney at the wonderful Browns Mountain course near Nowra. We were blessed with near perfect weather for the first year of the new NSW State Cross country championships – a joint venture between Athletics NSW and Little Athletics. The combined format meant that the competition was really strong – particularly for the seniors which run 2 age groups together. The Nowra course in renowned for being particularly tough – with a mix of flat sections as well as some tight bends and serious hills – a genuine Cross country course. Athletes compete over different distances depending on age, ranging from 800m for the U7 age group up to 6km for the U18, 10km for the opens, as well as some masters and fun run races of various distances. The junior (U7-U11) age group also had teams events comprising the first 3 athletes across the line, and senior age groups teams of 4 across each of the double age groups – U14, U16 and U18, where athletes had to compete for their Seniors Athletics club. The timing and distance from Sydney of this year’s event depleted our numbers, with 17 athletes competing in the Cross country. We had 3 junior teams entered in the teams event. In the first race of the day, Jax Brown got Cherrybrook off to a great start. Having been not that keen to run the day before, Jax was spurred on by his older brother and the rest of the U8 boys team to finish really strongly in 7th place – that’s the kind of Cherrybrook team spirit that we love!! The U8 boys team also started off well, with Idris Burkhardt finishing a strong 5th, and Thomas Bishop 17th out of a strong field of athletes. Unfortunately Bronsen Brown sustained a knee injury and was unable to finish the race. Our U8 girls followed, with our team of Kaylah Bennet, Serena Vanderklauw and Aaliyah Grebert finishing 5th, 24th and 25th respectively, picking up the BRONZE team’s medal. Our other team came from our very strong U11 Boys, where Lachlan Dewar, Dylan Searle and Jack Hayes and finished 13th, 16th and 20th respectively to bring home the SILVER team’s medal. Of our other individual performers, we had 3 other top 10 finishers amongst our senior athletes – Logan Kaye and Ben Bishop who competed for their seniors Club Trinity Athletics in the hotly contested U15/16 age group, each finishing 7th in their individual age groups. 7th was clearly the number of the day, with Capri Vidler U18 girls also finishing a very strong 7th. Thanks also to all the officials and helpers, in particular to our own Elizabeth Jones who officiated all day.

STATE RELAYS 19-20 November 2016, SOPAC Homebush State Relays moved back to Homebush this year, so it was a great experience for our young athletes in particular to run on the blue track! This year State Relays had various event format changes again Cherrybrook had a big team with 35 teams competing over the two days. State Relays really is a team event, and we are all grateful to the many people who worked together to make it all happen, from organisers and officials including our own Nicola Craig who officiated all day on Sunday at , team managers, our coaches and parent helpers, and of course our 4 athlete teams. Special thanks to Jenny Bishop, as well as Daven Timms who did heaps of work putting teams together and co-ordinated our relay training, as well as our age managers who helped in getting our teams organised – it’s a big job.

Stepping up for Cherrybrook Being a team event, sometimes there are injuries or illnesses that require last minute juggling of people in order to enable a team to compete. Special mention to a few athletes who were roped in at the last minute to make up teams where competitors were unavailable, or others who competed in events outside their comfort Zone to help get a team into an event. Particular thanks to Emma O’Connor U8G who filled in for the field team in to the , and Sam Irish U13B who stepped into the long jump at the very last minute, and to our whole U12 boys team who were super- flexible and all swapped around to fill in various last minute gaps so that their team-mates could compete. Junior Day (U8-U11) 20/11/16 - State Relays is one of the toughest athletics competitions, particularly in the juniors, with around 150 clubs represented from around NSW. To finish in the top 10 or make a final is a great achievement. Of the junior teams Cherrybrook was very well represented, with 4x100 teams in all age groups, and a good complement of 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 teams, as well as multiple field relay teams. The 4x100s are always very tough events, and this year the 8G team of Emma Cherry, Maddison Clarke, Sophie Durheim and Tayla Moore ran beautifully, just missing a medal in a tight 4th finish. Our talented U9’s saw both the boys and girls teams making the final which is a wonderful effort, with the girls finishing 8th and the boys 7th. We had another top 10 finish in the 9 boys where the field team finished 9th in a very close event. But the stars of the day were undoubtedly the 8G field team of Layla Tawbe, Mia Stewart and Natasha Flahey who jumped and threw superbly to finish with the SILVER medal – well done girls. Special mention also to our girls middle distance team of Jessie Bradford, Kaylah Bennett, Isabella Fisher and Sierra Timms, all 4 of whom ran PB’s in the middle distance relay to finish 7th – well done. There were many other really good performances in the 4x200, 4x400, middle distance and field relays– full results below Senior Day (U12-U17) 21/11/16 - Our Senior team was a little smaller than previously, with a few athletes unavailable to compete this year. Congratulations to our 17G 4x100 team of Rachel Ingram. Matilda Pennington, Kate Collett and Katie Devitt who came 5th in a very fast final which is a great result. The U13 girls jumps team of Xanthe Craig, Danielle Osifo and Arienna Grebert also finished 5th in the jumps relay. There were a couple of other top 10 finishes, including the U12 boys 4x100 and, U13 boys 4x100. So all in all, a fun weekend of competition held in wonderful team spirit and good results - well done to everyone!

ZONE CHAMPIONSHIPS 10-11 December 2016, Barton Park Parramatta It was great to see our athletes giving their best, with many, many PB’s performed over the weekend. There were so many other great performances at Zone that it is hard to know where to start! Our under 7’s are our youngest athletes competing at Zone, and this year’s group again did very well. Special mention to 2 of our U7 athletes who medalled in their first ever Zone: Aarush Anandh had a great championships, finishing with 4 medals – GOLD in the 50m, SILVER in the 70m and 100m and BRONZE in the Long Jump – a great effort. Zara Djamirze also did really well finishing with a BRONZE in the 70m, as well as 2x 4th place finishes, as well as Jenaya Lubrano who just missed the medals finishing with a 4th, 2, 5th’s and a 7th. Well done also to our other U7 athletes – in the boys Luke Hobbs, Tom O Connor, and girls Madeline Surjan and Kayla Wiberg. Our strong U8 and U9 groups had an amazing carnival, with a couple of events finishing up with 3 Cherrybrook athletes in the finals. Special mention to a few particularly outstanding achievements: Marcus Papadimitriou who won GOLD the 100,200 and 400 and was just pipped into SILVER in the hurdles. Jessie Bradford (8G) claimed 2 GOLD the 400 and 800, Tayla Moore (8G) went one better with 3 GOLD (200m, Discus and Shot) and one BRONZE (100m). Sophie Durheim excelled too, claiming GOLD in 70m and LJ, SILVER in the 100m and BRONZE in the 200m In the 10’s and 11’s, Sarah-Anne Koot (10G) almost swept the sprints with GOLD (70m, 100m) and a SILVER (200m). Emily Crawford with 2 GOLDs and SILVER had convincing wins in the 100m and 200m and a 2nd in the hurdles. Others in U8-U12 with multiple top 3 finishes were Joel Moresi (8B), Bronsen Brown (9B), Idris Burkhardt (9B), Isabella Fisher (10G), Elijah Wehrhahn (10B), Regina Shakya (10G), William Austin (11B), Jessica Coppolelli (11G), Harry Anderson (12B), Ryan Frykberg (12B) Alex Mills (12B) and Zachary Semaganda (12B). Our seniors also did very well this year. In particular our Zone record breakers, none of whom will come as a surprise: Amie Bowrey added the U15G Javelin to her list of previous Zone records, with a massive throw of 38.62m in the javelin, as well as winning 3 other events. Kristina Moore (U17G) also continued her record breaking ways, with huge throws in the Discus – 46.25 and Shot 13.96 to break 2 records, and won the javelin to round out the throws. And last but certainly not least, Donovan Bradshaw (U13B) ran superbly, smashing all 3 of the sprint records in the U13’s – the 100m in an amazing 11.80, as well as the 200m in 24.17 and the 400m where he ran 57.88. To round out his weekend, he also won the long jump and came 2nd in the triple jump. Our other seniors competed really strongly with some great performances. Special mention to Katie Devitt (17G) who took out the sprint triple with GOLD in the 100,200 and 400m, Danielle Osifo who won the Long and Triple Jumps as well as a second place in the 100m, Jackson Tuynman who dominated the jumps to win the Long and Triple, as well as second in the high jump. REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS 11-12 February 2017, Narrabeen Academy of Sport It was hot conditions at Narrabeen and fortunate that the sea breeze kept the temperatures bearable for most of the weekend. We had a strong contingent of U8 athletes competing at region for the first time, all of whom performed extremely well. The boys were very well represented, and performed amazingly well. Zachery Budden finished 12th in the hotly contested 70m sprints, and 11th in the long jump. Joel Moresi had a very busy carnival, culminating in 2 SILVER medals in the 400 and 700m events, along with 5th in the long jump with a big jump of 3.31, and 7th in the hurdles. Amongst the U8 girls, Tayla Moore was a multi medallist, with GOLD in the Shot and Discus as well as a fast 4th in the 200m and 10th in the 100. Jessie Bradford also had an amazing carnival, with GOLD in the 400m and 800m, as well as 11th in the 200m. Emma Cherry did well finishing 9th and 14th respectively in the 70m and 200m sprints. Sophie Durheim was very busy, finishing a fast 6th on the 70m, as well as 12th in the 200m. Natasha Flahey continued to do well in the discus, improving 2.5m on her Zone distance, to finish with a SILVER medal. Sadie James finished 11th and 13th in the 700m and shot. Mia Stewart also had a really busy carnival – competing in 4 events – discus, shot, long jump and 700 where she finished 7th, 12th, 9th and 9th respectively. And Ruby Semaganda Had 2 top 10 finishes – 7th in the long jump, and 9th in the hurdles – well done! Hopefully they will join us back at Region again next year for their first chance to make the State Championships. Our U 9 athletes have their first opportunity to make it through to the State Championships in March. Congratulations to our U9’s who made it through to State - Marcus Papadimitrou finished with an impressive with SILVER in the hurdles and 4th in the 100m. Bronsen Brown had a great weekend, finishing GOLD in the hurdles and BRONZE in the 800. He also achieved 5th in the 400m. Idris Burkhardt ran a gritty 800m, finishing a fast 5th to make it through to State. Two Of our U9 girls also had great championships to make it through to State – Ruby Perkins for the 70m (2nd and SILVER) and HJ (5th), and Aaliyah Grebert for the 700m walk – a great achievement. Whilst we cannot mention all of the medal winners, this year like always, Cherrybrook had a number of fabulous all round performers. Special mention to Donovan Bradshaw (4 GOLD) who had a wonderful Region championships, finishing with a clean sweep in the 100m, 200m and 400m where he ran a stunning 55.67 to break the regional record, as well as winning the triple jump and 4th in the long jump. STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS 17-19 March 2017, SOPAC Homebush The 2017 State Championships were held at SOPAC over the weekend of 17-19 March. Unlike last year when the weather was good, the conditions were tough for everyone – especially on Friday night and Saturday when it was extremely wet and windy. The Sunday weather was a bit kinder, although still quite blustery and tricky. For those competing at State for the first time, it is an experience quite unlike any other, and a real level up even from our very strong Region. All events have a starting list of up to 24 athletes from all around the state, who have qualified either by coming top 2 at their region, or being one of the next 6 best qualifiers from any region, so the competition is always tough. Again, this year we had timed finals for the 800’s which definitely improved the program for our distance runners, many of whom produced stunning PB’s over the weekend. Overall the team performed well, bringing home a haul of 15 medals – 7 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze with another 35 top 10 performances which at State level is an excellent achievement. Cherrybrook had a strong contingent of U9 athletes qualify for State – under 9 being the youngest age group able to compete at the Championships. Well done to Marcus Papadimitriou who qualified for State in 3 events and performed extremely well, running some great times, finishing 6th in the 200m and the 60 hurdles, as well as 10th in the 100m - terrific results. Bronsen Brown also had a great carnival, finishing 9th in the hurdles and 14th in the 800m, with his team mate Idris Burkhardt finishing really strongly in the 800m to finish 10th – well done boys. Ruby Perkins backed up well from State Multi to make it through to the very fast 70m final, finishing 8th, as well as an 11th place in the high jump – well done. Last but not least, Aaliyah Grebert competed very strongly in the walks event on Sunday, finishing 13th – well done Speaking of walks, Cherrybrook has only been doing walks for a couple of years, with lots of encouragement from Craig Little, as well as a committed band of walkers and their parents. This year an amazing 9 athletes made it through to State and competed in the walks, with excellent results as follows: William Mills U14 boys 5th; Alex Mills U12 boys 6th; Jeremy Jubb U10 boys 6th; Adam Jubb U14 boys 11th; Arienna Grebert U13 girls 12th; Jamie Eve Wade U14 girls 12th; Aaliyah Grebert U9 girls 13th; Kaiya Grebert U11 girls 14th; Kelly Chapman U14 girls 14th – well done to all.

Medals at State are always hard to come by, so particular congratulations to this year’s medallists: Will Austin who ran a superb hurdles race to win GOLD in the U11B race, Lance Haffenden (U12B) who jumped an excellent 1.56m in tricky conditions to collect BRONZE in the high jump, Danielle Osifo (13G) who continued her excellent State record with a fine leap of 10.73m in the triple jump to win BRONZE, in addition to 4.88m in the long jump for 6th, Jonathan Reid who was just pipped and pushed into BRONZE in the very competitive U13B 80m Hurdles as well as an excellent jump of 11.35m in the triple jump where he was pushed into 4th in the last round. Isabella Rudolph rounded out our single medallists, with a jump of 1.65m to collect silver in the U15G high jump. To win one medal at state is a wonderful achievement, but to win multiple medals is a superb effort, which a number of our athletes achieved this year. In the PARA events, Kailyn Joseph repeated her great performances from previous years, coming away with 3 medals – GOLD in Long Jump & discus and SILVER in the 100m - a wonderful effort. Kailyn has proved to be an excellent and consistent all round performer yet again. Sara Kely also came away with 3 medals - finishing with SILVER in the long jump, and BRONZE in the discus and 800m showing that she too is a great all round athlete. Donovan Bradshaw (U13B) came home with a haul of 4 GOLD medals. Donovan began on Friday night with a commendable 6th in the triple jump, followed by a blistering run in the 400m final where he ran an amazing 53.33s to take over 0.3s off the previous State record in what was far from ideal conditions.

STATE MULTI EVENT CHAMPIONSHIPS This year State Multi was held at the Hunter Sports Centre which, with its closer proximity to Sydney resulted in a larger contingent of Cherrybrook athletes able to make the trek north up the M1. We were represented by 16 athletes who put in their best efforts in the less than ideal conditions. The rain came down on and off right across the two days, and I am sure those in attendance would not have been able to count how many times the umbrella went up and down across the weekend. However, a little bit of rain was never going to dampen our spirits, and our athletes still put in some excellent performances even if some of the conditions were tricky on both the track and particularly for some of the throws. Athletes compete in a range of events depending on age group – jumps, throws, sprints, hurdles and a distance race, and receive points based on a performance standard which are then added to make 1 final point score for each athlete. State multi combines many of the best aspects of athletics – all round participation and giving your best in every event, with the importance placed on getting the best result you can rather than where you come in any given event.

Particular congratulations to our medal winners – Tayla Moore who had a fantastic carnival, coming home with SILVER in the U8 girls event William Austin: who had solid results across the board to come home with the SILVER medal Johnathon Reid: had a great carnival and was really strong on the track and in the long jump, winning BRONZE in the U 3 boys event. Amie Bowrey also had another excellent State Multi carnival, with our best overall score of 5748 points, and the GOLD medal in the U15 girls event, which gives her a place again in the prestigious Australian Little Athletics team as 1 of the 3 Multi athlete competitors from the U15 girls.

The Cherrybrook team also had a number of other athletes finish in the top 10 which is an excellent result at this competitive State level: Congratulations to Ruby Perkins 5th U9G, Bronson Brown 7th U9B, Aarush Anandh 9th U7B and Thomas Bishop 10th U9B solidifying our impressive contribution and effort from all of the Cherrybrook athletes attending the carnival. Next year’s State Multi will be held in Wagga Wagga, so set aside the first weekend in March and come and join an amazing athletics carnival.

TRANS TASMAN This year Trans Tasman was held in Sydney, with the Challenge day at Campbeltown. The team from Auckland this year travelled to Sydney and spent about 10 days touring Sydney and competing. This year Cherrybrook was represented by 2 athletes this year, Zach Semaganda (U12B) and Will Austin (U11B) Zach competed really strongly to finish 6th in the 200m final. Will Austin competed in a range of events across track and field – in the 400m, Long jump, and throws, finishing with very strong results in the Shot (5th) and Discus (5th). Will also competed in the mixed throws relay in the A team which won the silver medal. Trans Tasman continues to be a wonderful opportunity for athletes to compete in a genuine team environment, make many friends and wonderful memories. Next year the NSW team will head back to Auckland to defend their Trans Tasman title. AUSTRALIAN LITTLE ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS 22-23 April 2016, Sydney Well what a wonderful end to the 2017 Little Athletics Season. The Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC) was held in Sydney this year in a new format – over 2 days for the first time. Sydney put on a stunning weekend of weather, and the athletes many wonderful performances – our Cherrybrook athletes in particular. ALAC is a highly contested team of 26 Under 13 athletes and 6 Under 15 multi event athletes selected each year to represent NSW in the only interstate Little Athletics competition. The NSW team prepared with 2 camps at Narrabeen where the team trains, participates in team building and has a lot of fun! Cherrybrook was represented by 2 athletes this year – Donovan Bradshaw in the U13 boys, who was selected after his extremely strong performances at the State Championships in March, and Amie Bowrey who returned to ALAC after competing in the U13 team in Perth in 2015. Amie gained selection for ALAC after competing in and coming 1st in the U15 multi event at NSW State Multi in March this year held in Newcastle. This follows the strong tradition of Cherrybrook members being selected for the state team, with 12 Cherrybrook athletes selected in the past 8 years.

Donovan had an exceptional championships yet again, with great performances in all his events. He finished with an amazing 4 medals – GOLD in the Long jump with a huge PB of 6.05m (only 2cm off the 12yo world record!!), GOLD in the 400m, and SILVER in the 100m. He also ran an excellent anchor leg in the U13 4x100m where the NSW team won yet another GOLD. This year the Under 15 athletes compete in 7 events over 2 days. The U15 multi event girl’s competition includes the 200m, 90hurdles, Shot Put, Javelin High jump, Long Jump and 800m. Amie performed exceptionally well, with strong performances across all the events including PB’s in the 200m and the high jump, to finish on the podium with the SILVER medal which is an amazing performance – Cherrybrook’s first Multi athlete to medal at ALAC – well done. NSW took out the U13 overall point score trophy, the handicap trophy and also finished first in the U15 multi event. The Gold Coast will host ALAC in 2018. JUNIOR AWARDS COLOUR PATCHES The colour patch achievement system is targeted at the U7-U17 Age Groups to encourage individuals to strive for their best. The award of colour patches does not include the U6 Age Group as the goal of this group is to encourage the enjoyment of athletics and development of basic skills and coordination. As athletes get older, the colour patch is the club’s main system to encourage and reward self-improvement. This season we saw some fantastic personal achievements. This form of recognition is an excellent way for athletes to gain acknowledgment for their personal achievements separate from any achievements they may gain through Representative competition. The tiered structure encourages athletes to strive for their best in a range of events and provides interim rewards as they improve through the year. Results achieved at Gala Days and Representative competition (Zone, Region and State carnivals) can all be included in the patch achievement system

GOLD Patch Award Congratulations to the following athletes awarded a GOLD patch – the club’s highest recognition of personal athletic achievement : Emily Crawford U12G, Jonathan Reid U13B, Donovan Bradshaw U13B, William Austin U11B, Joel Moresi U8B.

Congratulations to the U7 Girls who outscored every other age group with the highest number of patches awarded to athletes. 78 athletes achieved colour patches this year with a further 6 athletes receiving the Blue patch (one under Gold) which is also an outstanding achievement.

Athletes awarded a GOLD patch - the club’s highest recognition of personal athletic achievement:

MOST CONSISTENT TRACK ATHLETE AND MOST CONSISTENT FIELD ATHLETE These awards are based on the week by week results of each athlete in the Age Group. To achieve the highest level, it is necessary to attend as many weeks as possible, go in as many events as are available and finish in the top ten in each event that is attempted. The points are computer generated and awarded as follows: 1st = 10 points 2nd = 9 points 3rd = 8 points 4th = 7 points 5th = 6 points 6th = 5 points 7th = 4 points 8th = 3 points 9th = 2 points 10th = 1 point

25

MOST IMPROVED ATHLETE As with the Most Consistent Athlete, this award is also dependant on the number of times an athlete attends and the number of events participated in. Points are awarded if an athlete improves their best time or distance in each attempted event. Points for this award are calculated as follows: Better than last personal best = 10 Points Equal to last personal best = 5 Points To be eligible for any of the above awards an athlete should have attended at least 52% of the available weeks in the season, or have a legitimate reason for attending less eg injury. Consideration may also be given to dual registered athletes U12+ who may also be competing in the weekend Seniors program.

NB: If an athlete gains first place in all three awards, they will be given the Most Consistent Track & Field Athlete award, as that is seen as the most prestigious award. The first runner up for the Most Improved Award will then become the Most Improved trophy recipient. If an athlete gains first place in either the Most Consistent Track or Most Consistent Field awards and first in the Most Improved award, they will be given the Most Consistent Track or Most Consistent Field Athlete award, as that is seen as the most prestigious award. The first runner up for the Most Improved Award will then become the Most Improved trophy recipient. Actual points given as quoted above can be changed from season to season. It should be noted that the committee will work out which week the calculation for the above awards will commence.

HIGH ACHIEVER AWARD Kristina loves sport, she loves to compete and she loves the camaraderie and friendships that come with sport. She started Little Athletics at Cherrybrook in the Under 6’s. Athletics provides opportunities to all, it doesn’t matter whether you are big or small, fast or slow each time you compete it is against your personal best. Kristina was encouraged and coached by the Cherrybrook Athletic club members, coaches and volunteers and this support developed skills and a built a deep love of athletics, something she holds today. It wasn’t too long before people realised that Kristina could throw heavy objects a long way and this early identification was the platform for her Athletics career. Kristina has worked hard at her throwing and this has led to many opportunities for her to test herself against the best competition. She always loved the Friday night “fun” with her friends and then graduated to Zone and Regional carnivals where new friends were made and new challenges were had. These early years were fundamental in moulding Kristina in who she is today. Key to this are the values of humility, hard work, sportsmanship and dealing with success and disappointment. Kristina has been extremely fortunate to have achieved a lot and have wonderful experiences through Little Athletics. Kristina has competed at almost all Zone, Regional and State Athletic carnivals during the past 12 years. In 2016 she was unable to compete as she was overseas on School Exchange. In 2017 she broke two Zone records before being unable to compete in Regionals as she was interstate. A brief summary of her major achievements are: • Numerous Club, Zone and Region records • State Representative (Discus, Shot Put, Javelin) U9 (2009) to U15 (2015) including 6 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze • Gold Medallist in State Little Athletics Under 15 Multi Event 2015 • ALAC Team Captain 2013, Canberra – Gold in Discus, Bronze in Shot Put • ALAC Team Member Under 15 Multi Event 2015, Perth - Silver in Relay • Trans-Tasman team member 2012 • Youth Commonwealth Games Samoa, September 2015 - Gold in Discus, Fourth in Shot Put • Melanesian Oceania Championships Fiji, July 2016 - Gold in Discus, Bronze in Shot Put • National All Schools Champion Discus in 2014 (U16) and 2016 (U18) Kristina is looking forward to continuing her Athletic journey. Her immediate priority is to complete her HSC and then she would like to represent Australia in 2018 at the World Junior Championships in Finland. She also aspires to represent Australia at a Senior level. Little Athletics has provided Kristina with many opportunities, but more importantly it has helped her build self-confidence, learn valuable life lessons and make lifelong friends.

T.J. BEALE PERPETUAL TROPHY Cherrybrook Little Athletics commenced in 1994. The club was financially strong in the initial season due to a generous contribution by Mr T.J. Beale. The committee of the first season decided that it was important to recognise the contribution of Mr Beale and created the T.J. Beale Perpetual Trophy (Mr Beale passed away during the 1998/1999 season). The award is given to a girl and boy athlete who epitomise the philosophy of Little Athletics. Criteria for the award consist of an attendance of at least 70%, a positive attitude and a willingness to embrace good sportsmanship, and must have been a member of the Club for at least 2 years. During the 2000/2001 season the committee agreed that the perpetual trophy would be awarded annually to athletes in the Under Twelve Age Group.

JUNIOR REPORTS REGISTRAR’S REPORT Elizabeth Jones Little Athletics Registrar This season saw some changes in the registration process, with our Dual Athletes in the U12 and above age groups receiving One Sport numbers, which they could use for both Little Athletics and for competing in ANSW meets. This was a welcome initiative for the athletes, as it meant that they didn’t have to keep changing the numbers on their uniforms (and led to less people forgetting their appropriate numbers!). It meant a bit more work for myself & the Senior Registrar to co-ordinate registrations, but hopefully now we have the first season of this system done the few teething troubles will be sorted before next season. At the end of our Friday night competition season we finished with a membership of 444 Little Athletes which is almost identical to last year. 51% of these members were re-registrations and it is great to have these members returning, several of them for many a season now. Of the remaining 50%, 39% were new members and the remaining 10% were transfers from other clubs. In total we had members from 290 different families with 134 of those families new to Cherrybrook. The majority of families just have the 1 member but this year we had 4 families with 4 members – do you know who they are? Of our 444 members there were 10 more boys than girls so fairly even across the membership as a whole, however a number of age groups had significantly more of one sex than the other, for example we had 32 U7 girls but only 18 U7 boys. Similarly in the U12s we had 29 boys but only 12 girls. This can obviously cause a few programming issues that are difficult to plan for when you don’t know how many people are going to register. Our largest group this year was the U9 Boys with 37 registered members. As mentioned the U7 girls also had more than 30 members, with the U12s just under the 30 with 29 registered members. Thanks must go to the age managers for these groups in particular who do a great job to give everyone the time to complete their events. We once again tried a different approach to those wishing to trial, trying to get a balance between having the trial weeks near the start of the season but far enough in so that they will get to experience a “normal” week rather than what can sometimes be a bit of a busy/chaotic first week or two. After previous years when we’ve held trial weeks in the school holiday period we held off until after the majority of the holidays, in order to have as many of our regular age managers around as possible. However this was felt to be too late into the season for many of those wishing to trial & our triallists numbers were down as a consequence. In total we had 55 triallists, with 27 of those then registering as full members. At this point I would like to say a big thank you to Trish Bright at the LANSW office for her continued support and also to Nicola Craig, who has been a great Assistant, able to take over for the weeks when I was not around and helping me out immensely at the registration days and at the start of the season on those first Friday nights. Thanks also to the many Committee members for their assistance during the season, starting with the registration days. After 8 years of being Junior Registrar I have decided that this season will be my last, due to an increase of both work & athletic officiating commitments and also moving out of the local area. I no longer have the time needed for the role and cannot make as many of the Friday nights as the role really requires. It has been an interesting few years & I certainly got to know many of the members – even if it was just by registration number! To whoever takes the role on I will do my best to give a hand where I can, if required.

CHAMPIONSHIPS REPORT Jen Bishop Championships Officer Another successful season has come and gone. We have again been blessed with some amazing performances throughout the season, backed up by a large group of parents, age managers, coaches, other supporters and a hard working committee that enabled our athletes to come each week, try their best and have fun with their friends. Again we had some strange weather this year – sometimes too hot, sometimes too wet, but fortunately many “just right” nights where we enjoyed the wonderful setting at Greenway. Thanks to the council who used their new digital marker for the first time this season which re-shaped our track somewhat, but gave us wonderfully accurate markings, and for their work to keep our oval in great condition. This year we continued to tweak our 3 week program, which was again supplemented by invitationals most weeks. After the success of our Multi night last year, we had 2 this season, and again saw great turnouts for both, and again a huge number of PB’s performed as our athletes strove to do their best in every event. This culminated in 16 athletes competing at the State Multi Championships this year – our biggest number for some seasons. We also had great participation in State relays and State Cross Country, as well as for Zone, Regional and State where we had more than 20 athletes make it through to their first ever State Championships, in addition to a

30 large number of more experienced campaigners who made it through to the highest level this year again– well done to all those athletes. Each year despite the fact that it gets ever tougher to break records, we saw some great performances with records tumbling, and of course many “PB’s” achieved week to week. We had some of our best post-Christmas attendances for many years – testament to the fact that the kids really enjoyed competing this year, and were always keen to come and give their best. We look forward to another great season starting up again in September.

RECORDS AND RANKINGS REPORT Jill Ingram Records and Rankings Officer and Website Coordinator The 2016/17 season has once again seen some excellent results and records from our Little Athletes. There are several records that have been broken this season that have not been broken in 9, 11, 13 and 15 years and many that were broken after only one season showing we have some extremely talented Little Athletes in our club. Our records are signed off by club officials and have certain conditions attached to the setting of each record. Congratulations to all athletes who broke club records this season. Special mention must go to Donovan Bradshaw U13 Boy who broke four records 100m, 200m, 400m and Long Jump and William Austin U11 Boy who broke two records 400m and Discus, these are truly fantastic achievements. This season 300m Hurdles were introduced for the under 15 and under 17 age groups as a new event for Little Athletics to bring them more in line with the senior’s events for dual athletes. Every family member has a login to ResultsHQ and is able to view online results, PB’s, motivational gold stars for each PB, tickets, all seasons results and graphical charts showing athletes results compared to centre average results and club records. The system is motivational for the athlete and provides streamlined & simplified results processing. If you have not had the opportunity to login and check your athlete’s results I encourage you to do so by going to http://www.resultshq.com.au/ Use your email and password you used when registering for Little Athletics. If you do not know your password or username, click on the link below the login boxes on the screen and follow its prompts. I would like to thank the following people for assisting in running the gates every week – Phillip Lamperts (setup & outer track), Martin Bradshaw (setup), Cate Grace (mobile app and gates), Nicci Frykberg (gates), Amanda Jubb (inner track), Niki Wade(inner track), Ven Collett (straight track), David Cowell (gates), Jeewani Ginige (gates), Sneha (gates), Karen Tyler-Gurney (gates) and Vinnie (gates) all of whom are volunteer parents. The new parent helper system has seen a new band of very helpful efficient people setting up and packing up the gates and has also brought some new faces to help at the gates and on the computers assisting with recording results. Thank you to those people who helped. We would welcome more assistance with operating the gate computers next year. It is not an arduous task, you basically only need to enter the athlete numbers into the computer and you get to see your children as they compete in their events. Next season I would love to see even more people using their mobile technology ie. Tablets or iPads to enter field event results online with the use of the internet. Results entered using a Tablet or iPad are uploaded and become live on save. Most people can easily make a hotspot to the internet via their mobile smart phone, we would be happy to show you how and it only uses a tiny amount of data. I would also like to thank all the age managers and parent volunteers for organizing their athletes in lane order at the end of each race and arranging for the field event results to be entered on either an iPad, tablet or the field event laptop. The weather was extremely good for the first 13 weeks with only one week affected by poor air quality due to back burning. As required by Little Athletics policy we had to limit running events to no more than 200m. Unfortunately, the last eight weeks were not as kind with extreme weather conditions heat and rain forcing 3 ½ weeks to be cancelled. This will be my last season assisting with Records and Rankings with the Little Athletics section of the club, my youngest of 4 children will be competing in her final year in Little Athletics next season. After more than fifteen years attending and assisting with Little Athletics it is time to hand over to someone else. It has been truly rewarding being part of Cherrybrook Little Athletics it has provided our family with lots of Family, Fun and Fitness I am hopeful that someone will volunteer to take on the role of Records and Rankings for the 2017-18 season while I am still around to train and mentor on the technical side of the timing and results system. If you are interested or would like to know more please feel free to contact me to discuss.

AGE MANAGERS’ REPORT Sandra Hughes and Simone Age Manager Coordinator This season has flown by in a blink of an eye. Thank you for all the age managers who returned to continue their role for another season. We are fortunate to have such experienced parents in these positions who have so much knowledge that they pass onto our athletes as well as amazing organisational skills they utilise each week. In only a few age groups we were without age managers at the beginning of the season and quickly these positions were filled by committed people who naturally fitted into the age manager role with ease.

A special thank you to Erik Frykberg and Ben Bishop who volunteered to manage the U6Bs. They sacrificed their own time each week competing in the U17s to mentor a younger group. The U6Bs idolised Erik and Ben and learnt so much about athletics and technique from them. Another big thankyou to Rachel Ingram, Kate Collett and Morgan Little who became the age managers of their own age group and lead their peers each week. Age managers attend Little Athletics week in and week out and are so committed to the role. Without them Little Athletics could not run and our children would miss out on these amazing Friday nights. Thank you so much to all of you and we hope you continue in your roles as well as seeing some new faces next season.

NB: Changes to State and Australian Records: At the LANSW Board Meeting of August 2014, the Board approved to consolidate manual and electronic State record times, to one set of best performance records. As per LAA guidelines, a formula has been applied to current times to create a standardised system and to bring all performance times into alignment. From 2014, the best result (standardised hand-held time or [FAT] Fully Automated Time) has now become the LANSW State or National Record for that event. The formula used for standardising the hand held time is as follows: For distances under 400m: Hand held time + 0.24 seconds For distances of 400m or 4x100m relay: Hand held time + 0.14 seconds For distances greater than 400m: No change A standardised time is indicated with [S]. Historical documents are to be kept on the LANSW website. State Multi records are no longer being kept as there have been multiple changes made to the point scoring system which makes the year to year performances difficult to compare.

DANIEL BERRY SENIORS AWARD Daniel Berry was a Cherrybrook Seniors athlete from 2009 – 2013. Throughout this period Daniel broke many NSW and Australian records in the U20 and Open Male PARA divisions in running events ranging from 100m - 1500m as well as Long Jump and Discus. He also participated for Cherrybrook Athletics on a regular basis at interclub competitions, State Relays and All Comers events with great enthusiasm and determination every time he competed. In July 2013 Daniel tragically lost his life to cancer at the young age of 22. He will be long remembered by our club for his loving nature, generous spirit, tenacious excellent sportsmanship, competitive drive, humble attitude and the inspirational way he lived his life on and off the athletics track. In memory of Daniel Berry, the 2013/14 Cherrybrook Athletics Committee introduced the Daniel Berry Award for senior athletes. The criteria to win this award are as follows:

Age: 16+. Attitude and Sportsmanship: A positive attitude and a willingness to embrace good sportsmanship. Attendance: The athlete must have competed a minimum of 8 times in a season which can include representation for Cherrybrook Senior Athletics, NSW Athletics and/or Athletics Australia. Must have been a member of the Club for at least 2 years.

Julie Charlton Julie was born in 1999 with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. Her doctors at the time had fears that she may never even sit up. Today with the help of AFOs (Ankle Foot Orthotics), Julie can walk but she uses a wheelchair for longer distances. Julie is in Year 12 in high school at The Hills Grammar School at Kenthurst, and is doing ‘pathways’ so that she can have extra time for her sport as well as her studies. At a “Women in Sports Breakfast” Julie met Paralympic star Louise Sauvage, and little did she know that a few short years later she would be participating in training sessions run by Australia’s best Paralympian female wheelchair racers - Louise, Angie Ballard, Rosemary Little and Maddie de Rosario, held by Wheelchair Sports NSW. In primary school, what made sport become Julie’s focus was encouragement to participate by amazing teachers, sports officials and coaches. This encouragement and support has made a huge difference to her life! Julie holds many para titles, including Australian and Oceania records. She is the IWAS (International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Assoc.) Junior World Champion for Seated Javelin. As of April 2017 Julie has the current Oceania Rankings of 1st for Women’s Seated Shot Put F57, 1st for Women’s Discus Throw F57 and 2nd for Women’s Seated Javelin F57. Also she is in the top 5 rankings for the 100m, 200m (1st), 400m, 800m and 1500 m. Julie currently holds the Australian and Oceania records for seated Discus. Julie gained her ‘Community Coach’s” certification last year, and ever since then she has been training younger seated throwers. Julie’s brightest moments are when her students gain Australian or Oceania records. Seeing her mentees succeed are the proudest moments of her life! What Julie has learned and gained from so many talented mentors and dedicated people around her has given her the huge inspiration to give back to others some of the things she has learned (and is still learning).

CLUB REPORTS SECRETARY’S REPORT Phillip Lamperts This is the first season our Club has operated under the new Constitution, which was adopted at a Special General Meeting, held towards the end of last season. The most significant change was the coalescing of our Junior and Senior Executives into a single entity, with the aim of increasing club unity. Our Executive together with General Committee held 10 meetings throughout the season, with both groups being represented at each meeting. Agendas were set and minutes recorded and sent to all executive and committee members to ensure effective communication and decision making. A number of significant motions were passed by Committee over the season that saw action on improving facilities and amenities at the oval as well as equipment purchases. Much correspondence was entered into to attend to operational and administrative matters with Little Athletics NSW and ANSW that aided in the smooth running of our club and interclub competitions at a Junior and Senior level respectively, as well as the Dept. of Fair Trading – to whom we submit an Annual Financial summary. This was also the case with Council to whom we submit our Summer and Winter sportsground licence applications. I would like to thank Council Officer Andrew Wright, and head of department – Geoff Witt, whose co-operation and assistance in operational matters has resulted in a new GPS system of marking the track at our oval, which duplicates the marks as they are set out at SOPAC. To finally have a definitively accurate track marking system that we can rely on has been a great relief to all members, especially those that were involved with measuring and marking previously. The LANSW AGM, ANSW AGM were attended, as well as representing our club at Northern Met Zone meetings, and Region 5 meetings.

EQUIPMENT REPORT Philip Smiley Thanks to all parents and athletes who assist with the set up and pack up of equipment. Special mention must be made to the regular parent helper starters without whom the competition nights would not run so smoothly. This year we obtained replacement javelins, uniden communication devices, high jump stands, marker pins, multiple starting caps and flexible cross bars. The maintenance schedule included the repair of older style hurdles, new ear muffs and repainting shot puts. Amazingly, the equipment assistant role is still vacant and all are encouraged to apply with abundant kudos to be given to the successful applicant. I remain firmly convinced Little Athletic participation is an excellent pastime for our children and far better for them than watching television and using electronic devices on a Friday night.

OFFICIALS REPORT Elizabeth Jones Whilst for most of us athletics is largely an individual sport, there are many people that work behind the scenes to make it possible for our athletes to compete. During all our carnivals, officials are required to run the events to a strict set of rules to make competition fair and safe for everyone. Officials undertake training to ensure consistency and fairness in judging and running events. Again this year, Cherrybrook has been blessed with many parents and friends of the club who have willingly given up their time to officiate at our various carnivals. We would like to acknowledge them, as well as the many other helpers who have worked hard behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of our carnivals. We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to you all! Special thanks to those who have officiated at both Little Athletics and Seniors Athletics Carnivals this year: Moose Moore, Colleen Reid, Phillip Lamperts, Elizabeth Jones, Fiona Liu, Ros Read, Claire Eaton, Sean O’Connor, Craig Little, Nicola Craig, Jill Ingram, Nigel Grebert, Shane Perkins, Sonia Wiberg, Thomas Jubb, Cheryl Burnett, and Alexandra Pearce who has officiated in her new State of Queensland. Our own Cathy Eaton has once again put in many hours in her 4th year as our LA’s Zone Co-ordinator, running both our Zone and Region carnivals, as well as assisting with the State Championships. In particular the work and preparation that Cathy put in to get our Regional carnival safely through the hot weather was second to none. Thanks also to Jen Bishop and Daven Timms who have been our Little Athletics Championships officers this year, and to Ben Jaworski who along with assistance from Nicky Jenneke and Karin Webb have done a terrific job co-ordinating all the Seniors Championships, along with results and weekly emails. Being an official is very rewarding, so please consider joining in next season! Should you choose to continue officialling and have achieved a basic qualification then you can officiate at both Little Athletics and Athletics New South Wales events & even at events like the Sydney Track Classic! Our Zone plans to continue a scheme to give people some mentoring and a taste of officialling – so consider having a go next season - being an official really helps you to better understand and enjoy the , so come and give it a go. 87

COACHING REPORT – 2017 Valmé Kruger Have you ever thought about your child competing at the Olympics one day? Cherrybrook Athletics Club had 2 athletes coached from a very young age at Cherrybrook - Michelle Jenneke (100m Hurdles – Coach Mick Zitzi) and Jenny Blundell (1500m – Coach Valmé Kruger) competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics. That was surely one of the highlights for the club during 2016. The key to success in athletics is to learn good solid habits and self-discipline, to stay positive and motivated, enjoy competing, and persevere to reach for your goals. The Track and Field coaches at Cherrybrook Athletics Club assist athletes of all ages in developing their full potential during the week and Friday night LA’s meets. They use their coaching skills to analyze performances, instructing athletes in relevant skills & providing encouragement across all the events. Track and field coaches at Cherrybrook Athletics club are expected to be qualified and accredited. The younger up and coming coaches undergo on-going training under the guidance of an accredited, higher level coach or mentor. It is furthermore required for all coaches to refresh their knowledge by staying actively involved, keeping up to date and broadening their experience by attending on-going coaching courses conducted by the Australian Track And Field Coaches Association. All athletes are equally important to us, which necessitates multiple training sessions to cater for the different standards and age of each athlete. Our senior ranks are also growing in numbers and strength, indicating that the depth in our Club is growing. The Friday night coaching focus moved to more specific and consistent training in preparation for the Zone, Regional and State LA’s Competitions. Many of our younger coaches, Sam Coburn; Damon Steer; Emily Jones and Lachlan Cubbin played a big role in the club’s successes at the LA’s coaching sessions on Friday night’s competitions. Of our younger athletes, Ben Bishop and Erik Frykberg coached and age managed the U/6 Boys age group which was a wonderful experience for all, and a coaching pathway the club plans to develop. Our thanks go out to all our qualified coaches for the exceptional dedication and hard work that they have put in during the season of 2016/2017 with outstanding results. In particular – Valmé Kruger, John Sharpe, Mick Zisti, and Georgia Huggett who again have worked hard to bring out the best in our athletes to provide wonderful expertise and encouragement to many of our athletes week to week. Special thanks also to Nicky Jenneke who again ran a great group of hurdlers who also performed particularly well. We are very fortunate to have such experienced and dedicated coaches working with our athletes.

The Accumulated Funds are represented by Assets of $121,899 (Cash $84,966, Plant & Equipment at wdv $19,013, Uniform Stock $8,714 and Deposit on new Uniforms $9,206) with no Liabilities. Total Canteen Sales for the year increased by (5%) to $17,514. After Purchases the Net Profit from Canteen has increased by $1,108 (11%) to $11,538. We have continued to enjoy the support of our members on a Friday night and luckily this season did not lose as many nights due to bad weather as last season. Total Uniform Sales for the year of $14,866 increased slightly from last year by 6%. Profit for the year of $7,136 has increased significantly from last year of $845. This is due to the deliberate reduction in stock levels by $4,379 (33%) to $8,714 in anticipation of the new club uniforms which will be available next season. Over the next two seasons the new club uniform will be phased in and the old uniform phased out. We have also prepaid a deposit to the supplier of the new uniforms of $9,206 which is shown as an asset in the balance sheet as at 31 March 2017. Other Income decreased slightly by $2,879 (6%) to $46,266, which is mainly attributable to small decreases in Registration fees received, Fundraising and Bank Interest (due to low interest rates). Registration fees received net of Registration expenses (paid to Little Athletics and Athletics NSW) are $38,200 which is in line with last year. Total number of registered athletes are only slightly up on last year; with an increase in online registrations the gross amounts received and paid will decrease, with no particular effect on the net result. The fees to Little Athletics increased this season and we increased our fees accordingly. Other Expenses decreased by some $12,047 (19%) to $50,267. The major decreases are: • Timing Solutions annual fee $2,431. As a result of an agreement between Little Athletics NSW and Timing Solutions we no longer directly incur a fee for access to the online results system. Our fee is included in the Registration fees we pay to Little Athletics NSW, and all centres now have access to this online results system; • Coloured Patches $2,610. The purchase of Coloured Patches only occurs every few years as it is economical to buy these in bulk but the supply lasts for more than one year; • Trophies & Awards and AGM & Presentation Night $4,769. The net decrease in the cost of Awards & Trophies and Presentation Night is due to less first time state jackets than previous year and more economical alternate gifts. Total number of awards and trophies did not differ significantly; and • Competition entry fees and expenses $1,040. Last year we purchased Zone medals for $880 which is more than one year’s supply.

The net written down value of Plant & Equipment has decreased in total from $31,817 to $19,013 as a result of depreciation of $12,803. There were no additions or disposals this year. Depreciation expense is still high this year due to the large amount of additions in the 2015 year totalling $50,772. I would like to thank the Committee members for their continued help and support during the year. I would also like to thank the many volunteers who have assisted in running the Centres operations, in particular the Uniform ladies and Canteen helpers. It is only through everyone’s efforts that we can make our children’s athletic experience an enjoyable, fulfilling and successful one.

HISTORY

LITTLE ATHLETICS Little Athletics commenced in Geelong, Victoria in October 1964. New South Wales’ first Little Athletics centre, Randwick Botany, started in1968 and the NSW Little Athletics Association was formed in 1970. The LANSW now has approximately 200 centres and around 40,000 registered athletes each season Competition at Cherrybrook commenced in 1994 to offer the sport to children within the Cherrybrook area and surrounds. The main purpose of our Friday club night is to encourage all our athletes to compete and improve in every event. The ideals of the Little Athletics movement will be attained if concern for a child’s placing in an event is secondary to praise for individual improvement. During the 2016-2017 Little Athletics season the club had 444 registered little athletes and a high percentage of these competed for the club at a representative level e.g. zone and State relays. Cherrybrook Athletics is a 100% volunteer run athletics centre, with our parents providing most of the help, from Age Managers and helpers to officials and helpers at track and field events. The assistance by all our parents is invaluable to the successful running of the club and the club would like to thank all our parent members for their contribution this season.

SENIOR ATHLETICS The Cherrybrook Seniors Club commenced in the 2001/2002 season and has now completed its 15th season. The club provides a great environment for athletes to undertake athletics whatever their individual goals are - catering for athletes who wished to compete for fun or as a club athlete to those with international aspirations. The 2015/16 Membership was made up of 135 athletes plus 3 Senior Officials with 65 dual registered Athletes with Cherrybrook Lttle Athletics Club Our athletes compete regularly in the National Tour Events, and medal consistently and in depth across various events at State and National Championships including in the Masters and PARA Categories. Our athletes also now feature prominently in the various State based and National Development Squads and in both National and International Rankings as well as competing internationally, at a Youth and Junior Level and in PARA and Masters Categories. Most athletes now compete in Athletics NSW meets on the weekend and few senior athletes competing at Club competition on Friday nights. At the same time we still provide a regular Friday competition night for those who wish to compete at a club level in conjunction with the Little A's competition. This connection with the Little Athletics division is the cornerstone of our Club.
