PRESIDENT’S REPORT It has been a very rewarding year at Cherrybrook Senior & Little Athletics’. We welcomed a number of new committee members this season and with the experienced devotees on the committee throughout the 2017-2018 Athletics season, we completed another successful year. Athletics is a Volunteer sport and special thanks to all the officials, coaches, age managers, newsletter writers, recorders, starters, timing gate operators, canteen, BBQ operators, photographers and Redbook coordinator. I would like to make special mention of the committee members for having the club organized for championships, zone and region committees, ensuring we are registered correctly and prepared for each season. I also thank the parents who are always willing to assist when required. Your help and support reflected our club spirit again this season. I thank Hornsby council, for the overall quality of the grass track, which was maintained to a high standard throughout the season. The club also won a McDonald’s grant for athletics Craig Little equipment for the 2018 season. We also received a generous grant from the NSW office of sport, for outdoor sound equipment. This year our club launched a new Uniform, with a striking athletics style design and high performance materials, which was a real stand out at the State championships across all clubs. This enabled the Club to donate nearly $6000 worth of our old surplus uniforms to children in need in Papua New Guinea. During our club season all athletes performed well, achieving a total of 7974 PBs on Friday night competitions and represented Cherrybrook proudly at representative level including the State Cross Country and Walks, LANSW State Relays, Zone, Region, LANSW State Multi Event Carnival, LANSW State Championships with 51 athletes qualifying, with 16 medals. I congratulate all our athletes on how they have performed, sportsmanship shown on Friday night and at competitions. My hope is that you have enjoyed your athletics experience this year and will be back next year. It’s a pleasure being associated with Cherrybrook Athletics. At a Senior Level the Club enjoyed another very successful season with strong performances across the Treloar Shield, Club Championships and throughout the State and National Championship season. The Club has had a number of members selected for Australia in international competitions, including Alysha Burnett and Kailyn Joseph in the Commonwealth Games and Elizabeth Jones who officiated at the Commonwealth Games. In addition, Sam Dale and Nick Dang were selected for the Melanesian championships. For the Australian Championships 31 Athletes qualified at an Age Group level, winning 21 medals, 11 Athletes competed in the Open Division winning 7 medals. The club also had 3 Masters athletes compete at the national titles, achieving 20 medals, including a national record for Sally Stagles. Further, it was great to see so many dual athletes competing on Saturday afternoons throughout Sydney. Competing as a dual athlete is an excellent way to develop, and to try some new events which are only offered in the senior athletics competitions. Furthermore I look forward to your continued support for the proposed Greenway Park Sports community club house. In addition please support the new committee which will be voted in tonight. Thank you again to our dedicated and committed committee. A special mention to outgoing committee members, Phil Lamperts, Jen Bishop, Jen Little and Lyn Lamperts. This will be my last year as President, I have enjoyed being a part of this successful club for the last decade and wish the new committee every success

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS STATE CROSS COUNTRY 2 July 2017, Rydalmere Well what a stunning day to be out running! Sydney turned on a perfect winter’s day for the second combined LA’s/ANSW State Cross Country event on Sunday at Rydalmere. The course was a mix of flat and hills with some twists and turns. Cherrybrook had 29 athletes and 1 parent alltogether competing across events ranging from the U7’s up to the masters age groups, with athletes attending from right across the State. Competition was particularly tough in the Senior age groups where this event was a qualifying event for the National Cross Country Championships in August The little athletics groups are able to put in teams of 3 athletes, and it was great to see a number of our age groups putting in teams for the day. We had some excellent individual performances as well as some team medals. Amongst our younger athletes, we had 6 top 10 finishers, which at a State level is an amazing result. 4th seemed to be the place of the day, with 3 athletes Jessie Bradford (U8G), Idris Burkhardt (U9B) and Kaylah Bennett just missing individual medals finishing 4th, as well as Aliyah Bennett (U7G) and Ben Stringer (U10B) finishing 7th, and Bronsen Brown (U9B) finishing 9th. STATE RELAYS 18-19 November 2017, SOPAC Homebush State Relays was again back at Homebush this year, so it was a great experience for our young athletes in particular to run on the blue track. This year State Relays had various event changes again, with the junior field relays of 3 athletes consisting of 1 athlete throwing shot and 2 in discus, with additional long jumps teams of 3 athletes. Our senior field teams consisted of throws teams of 3 – shot, discus and javelin, and jumps teams of 3, with 1 athlete each in , triple and . As previously the 4x200’s, 4x400’s and middle distance relays were all timed finals, with heats and finals of the 4x100 relays. Cherrybrook had a relatively big team of junior athletes – 21 teams, and a smaller contingent of seniors – 11 teams, making 32 teams competing over the two days. State Relays really is a team event, and we are all grateful to the many people who worked together to make it all happen, from organisers and officials, team managers, our coaches and parent helpers, and of course our athlete teams.

Junior Day State Relays is one of the toughest athletics competitions, particularly in the juniors, with around 150 clubs represented from around NSW. To finish in the top 10 or make a final is a great achievement. Of the junior teams Cherrybrook was very well represented, with 4x100 teams in most age groups, and a good complement of 4x200, 4x400 and middle distance teams, as well as multiple field relay teams. The 4x100s are always very tough events. This year 2 teams made the finals – the U9 boys and U10 boys finishing 6th and 5th respectively which is an excellent effort. Special mention also to both our junior middle

distance teams who both finished 5th, and the U9 girls jumps team who just missed the medals finishing a very close 4th. But the stars of the day were undoubtedly the 9G throws team of Tayla Moore, Mia Stewart and Natasha Flahey who threw superbly to not only win the GOLD medal, but set a new STATE RECORD in the U9G throws event – well done!! There were many other really good performances across the board.

Senior Day The senior day tends to be a bit calmer and quieter, but the competition definitely is not!! Our Senior team was a little smaller than previously, with a few athletes unavailable to compete this year. Despite this we were very well represented, with 3 of our 4x100 teams making the finals – the U12, U13 and U14 boys – finishing 6th, 5th and 5th respectively which is an excellent result. Our talented U14 boys jumps team of Jonathan Reid, Donovan Bradshaw and Kaylan Clark were just pipped for the gold medal – with their SILVER medal in fact breaking the previous state record with their jumps, only to be beaten by the team from Parramatta. So all in all, a fun weekend of competition held in wonderful team spirit.

ZONE CHAMPIONSHIPS 9-10 December 2017, Barton Park Parramatta We once again were very blessed with pleasant weather for this year’s Zone championships at Barton Park. Zone always has a great competitive atmosphere, and we are very fortunate to have an excellent venue for some great competition between the 5 clubs in our Zone – Cherrybrook, Ryde, Northern Suburbs, North Rocks Carlingford and Parramatta. This year a number of our very best athletes were missing as they were competing at the National All Schools Championships in Adelaide.

Our under 7 age group are the youngest group to compete at Zone. This year we had 15 U 7 athletes competing which bodes very well for the future of Cherrybrook LA’s. The U7 age group receive Zone medals if they place in the top 3 as they do not progress to the regional championships. Particular mention to our 5 under 7 medalists - Layla Burkhardt GOLD in Long Jump, Makenzie Gartner BRONZE in 500m, Katelyn Orchard BRONZE in , Sian Stewart GOLD in Shot put, and Gabriella Omage who finished with 3 GOLD medals in the 70m, 100m and 200m – well done. We hope that they will come back next year in the U8’s for their chance to make it through to Region. Athletes from U8 and upwards make it through to the Region Championships automatically if they finish in the top 6 at Zone, with the next 2 fastest qualifier from each of the Zones in our region also making it through. Overall Cherrybrook performed extremely strongly – out of 165 athletes competing at Zone from the U8’s and up, an amazing 119 made it through to the regional Championships in February. It is very difficult to single out other results as there were so many amazing performances. However, special mention must be made to our very strong U9 girls and U10 boys age groups. The 9 girls medalled once or more in all of the field events including a 1,2,3 finish in the discus. Our U10 boys made almost a clean sweep of all the track events – finishing 1,2,3 in the 100m, 200m and 400m; 1,2,4 in the 800m and 1500m, and 2,3,4 in the 60hurdles and 1 &3 in the 70m – absolutely incredible results – well done Congratulations also to Tayla Moore (9G) who set a new Zone record in the U9 Girls Shot where she threw an amazing 7.75m to add about 20cm to the previous record – well done Tayla. Any of you who looked through the standard of the Zone records will know what a high standard these are, including some of our best former Cherrybrook athletes such as our 2 Olympians Michelle Jenneke and Jenny Blundell. Lastly well done to our relay teams who competed very well despite our Senior teams in particular being a bit depleted by the absence of our athletes competing in Adelaide. Our Junior girls team of Sophie Durheim, Verity Beech, Sarah Anne Koot and Tara Webb finished 4th. Our Senior girls team comprising Abigail Omage, Scarlett Prowse, Milena Visser and Ellie Lamperts finished 3rd. Of the boys, our Junior team of Joel Moresi, Cooper Rawhiti, Marco Bocaletti and Nicholas Bradshaw finished 5th, and senior boys team of Robbie Cullen, Alex Durheim, Ajaiy Mohanraja and Ryan Jones finished 3rd.

Due to the re-surfacing of the Narrabeen track, this year’s region was held at SOPAC where all our athletes and spectators appreciated the excellent facilities. We were blessed with excellent weather which matched the great standard of competition. Firstly, we should acknowledge the excellent planning and work of the two Zone co-ordinators and their “teams” – moving venues required a surprising amount of planning to get the carnival up and going. Thanks also to the many officials and parents who worked together to ensure an excellent carnival for all. Particular thanks to Craig Little, Colleen Reid, Thomas Jubb, Moose Moore and Jill Ingram for their work officiating over the weekend. Thanks also to our coaches whose skill and expertise played a significant part in the performance of many of our athletes. Special mention also to Cherrybrook coaches – Valme Kruger, John Sharpe, Mick Zisti, and Nick Andrews who worked hard to bring out the best in our athletes, providing wonderful expertise and encouragement to many of our athletes week to week.

This year we again had a strong contingent of U8 athletes competing at region for the first time, all of whom performed extremely well. Congratulations to Aarush Anandh who had 3 top 10 finishes in the sprints and long jump, Aliyah Bennett who finished 12th 10th and 15th in her 3 events, Hamish Duggan who had a great carnival finishing 7th in the hurdles and 400, 5th in the 200 and 9th in the 100m, Nisini Rajapaksha who got a SILVER medal in the discus with a big throw of 14.51 in addition to placing 14th in the hurdles – well done all. Hopefully they will join us back at Region again next year for their first chance to make the State Championships. Our U9 athletes were competing in their second ever regional championships but had their first opportunity to make it through to the State Championships in March. Congratulations to our U9’s who made it through to State – Lachlan Booth, Jessie Bradford, Natasha Flahey, Joel Moresi, Tayla Moore, Ruby Semaganda and Mia Stewart.

Special mention also to a few of our U17 athletes who competed in their last ever LA’s Region Championships. Ben Bishop, Josh Coppolelli, Scott Chapman, Ryan Jones, Erik Frykberg, Kevin Yang and Eleanor Lamperts. They have all been not only excellent competitors but wonderful coaches and role models to our younger athletes. We wish them well in their future endeavours in athletics. Whilst we cannot mention all of the medal winners, this year like always, Cherrybrook had a number of fabulous all- round performers. Special mention to Donovan Bradshaw who had a wonderful Region championships, finishing with 3 individual GOLD medals in the 200m, 400m and long jump where he performed a stunning leap of 6.22m in full view of the Cherrybrook crowd to break the Region record. Donovan also gained SILVER in the 100m. Tayla Moore also had a great championship including a wonderful throw of 8.59m in the Shot Put to break the region record, as well as GOLD in the Discus. Our other multi medal winners included Ben Bishop, Daniel Bradford, Jessie Bradford, Bronsen Brown, Idris Burkhardt, Joshua Coppolelli. Robbie Cullen, Victoria Cullen, Anna Kely, Eleanor Lamperts, Natasha Flahey, Jonathan Friend, Joel Moresi, Abigail Omage, Cooper Rawhiti and , Jonathan Reid – what an amazing list of athletes – this is no small achievement given the strength of our region – well done!

Lastly however, the Region highlight was provided by our Senior boys relay team of Jonathan Reid, Donovan Bradshaw, Ajaiy Mohanraja and Morgan Little who ran superbly to finish in a dead heat for first with the always-strong Ku-ring-gai team. The remaining crowd were then treated to a repeat performance which went down to the wire, with the Cherrybrook team holding on for the tightest of all wins – by 0.01 sec to make it through to the State Championships. This is our first relay team through to State for a number of years – very well done boys, you did Cherrybrook proud.

STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS 23-25 March 2018, SOPAC Homebush The 2018 State Championships were held at SOPAC a week later than usual over the weekend of 23-25 March. We were blessed with good weather for most of the weekend, and with an incredible standard of competition as per usual. Thanks again to all the organisers and officials for giving up your time to allow our kids to compete and to our parents who did a great job on the various rosters etc which allowed the carnival to run smoothly. Special thanks too to all our coaches who have supported, encouraged and trained our athletes to perform at the best of their ability. Those competing at State for the first time always find the competition a big step up even from our very strong Region. All events have a starting list of up to 24 athletes from all around the state, who have qualified either by coming top 2 at their Region, or being one of the next 8 best qualifiers from any region. There were many amazing performances that challenged even our most seasoned athletes. Overall the team performed extremely well despite a few unfortunate injuries and illnesses, bringing home a huge haul of 20 medals – 3 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronze with another 28 top 10 performances which at State level is an excellent achievement. Congratulations also to those athletes who did not medal, but gave their best. I know many pulled out big PB’s which is always tough to do at State. It’s been clear on Friday nights that our younger group of athletes have been very keen. This year we had a very strong contingent of U9 athletes qualify for State – under 9 being the youngest age group able to compete at the Championships. Well done to Lachlan Booth 11th in long jump and 23rd in 100m, Jessie Bradford who just missed the medals finishing 4th in her 800m and 13th in the 400m, and Ruby Semaganda who showed that size is no barrier finishing 12th in the high jump. Our other U9’s all finished with Medals: Natasha Flahey GOLD in the 700m walk and 11th in Discus, Tayla Moore GOLD in Shot and SILVER in Discus, Joel Moresi BRONZE in 800m, Mia Stewart SILVER in 700m walk – what great results in our youngest age group at State.

Whilst it’s not possible to detail every great performance, winning medals at a State level is always a great achievement, particularly to those who win more than 1. This year’s other medalists were: Donovan Bradshaw (14B) who finished with a haul of 4 medals across the 100m (BRONZE) 200m(GOLD), 400m(SILVER) and relay(SILVER) as well as a 5th in the long jump. Isabella Fisher (11G) who ran a PB to make the final of the 400m and an even better time to get the BRONZE medal Campbell Johnson (17B) who jumped an amazing 1.89m for BRONZE in the u17 High Jump Sarah-Anne Koot (11G) who ran a big PB to win BRONZE in the 60m Hurdles Jonathan Reid (14B) who won BRONZE with a PB in the triple jump and BRONZE in the 90m hurdles Isabella Rudolph (17G) again collected a SILVER in the high jump – what a consistent performer Kevin Yang in his final LA’s championships won a SILVER in the shot as well as 4th in the Discus We also had 2 wonderful AWD athletes competing at these Championship, both of whom finished with 2 medals each: • Kailyn Joseph again repeated her great performances from previous years, coming away with SILVER in long jump & BRONZE in the discus. • Sara Kely also came away with 2 BRONZE medals in the 100m and long jump from her 4 events Well done to all.

Last but not least our Senior boys relay team of Jonathan Reid, Donovan Bradshaw, Ajaiy Mohanraja and Morgan Little won our final medal of the day with a fantastic run in the 4x100m. The boys went about half a second faster than at region to finish with a SILVER medal in a great time of 46.16sec - a great way to finish the championships.

STATE MULTI EVENT CHAMPIONSHIPS This year State Multi was held at Jubliee Park, Wagga Wagga. The five hour drive south west across our beautiful State wasn’t for everyone – with only 4 athletes from Cherrybrook making the trek to compete at this year’s event. Those that attended will vouch for the perfect weather and excellent facilities. Our athletes were blessed with wonderful conditions - two days of sunshine and 35’C temperatures coupled with an immaculate grass track – that could have been mistaken for Astro Turf. The ‘awesome foursome’ set out to achieve some PB’s and represent our club with pride. This carnival requires athletes to compete in six events consisting of sprints, pack starts, hurdles, throws and jumps. Points are awarded based on times and distances down to the centimetre/millisecond, requiring competitors to be skilled in a multitude of disciplines. The event hosts some of the best athletes in the State as well as those seeking to improve their skills, make new friends or just enjoy a weekend away with the family.

The four athletes from Cherrybrook who attended this year were; Nisini Rajapaksha Mudiyanselagne (U8G), Tayla Moore (U9G), Verity Beech (U10G) and Will Austin (U12B).

A huge congratulations to all four athletes on their performances over the weekend. Particular congratulations to our medal winners;

Tayla Moore (U9G) – Bronze Will Austin (U12B) – Bronze

Tayla had a difficult day on Saturday with all four events not going to plan – however, she showed grit and determination on day 2 fighting back with two huge PBs in the discus and her least favourite event – pack start, to bag herself the bronze! Great work Tayla!

Will performed admirably over all 6 events. He started very well in the first event by winning the Hurdles but then dropped down to 5th place by the fourth event before climbing back into a well deserved 3rd place and achieving a BRONZE Medal. Unfortunately none of his results were PB’s but consistency was the order of the weekend.

FULL STATE MULTI RESULTS:

Nisini performed extremely well improving her PB in five of Name Age Group Pos. Points the six events with an overall placing of 12th out of 33 Nisinui Rajapaksha competitors. That’s a huge improvement from 2017 where U8G 12th 4,275 th Mudiyanselage Nisini placed 30 overall. Keep up the great work Nisini! Tayla Moore U9G 3rd 4,497 Verity, who recently moved to made her final Verity Beech U10G DNC DNC appearance in Cherrybrook colours and did the club and Will Austin U12B 3rd 4,528 herself proud with some excellent results. Unfortunately Verity did not record a final result due to her missing the pack start race following a delay in the commencement of this event. Next year’s State Multi will be held in Dubbo so set aside the first weekend in March 2019 for this event – it really is worth experiencing at least once!

TRANS TASMAN Congratulations to Evan Custovic (U11B) just returned from running at the Trans Tasman over in New Zealand. He had a great time travelling and competing as part of the NSW team, and found the tour a fantastic experience. Evan also won a BRONZE medal in the 4 x 400m 10 year old boys relay – well done. Congratulations to the New Zealand team who ended up winning the TT Challenge this year. Trans Tasman continues to be a wonderful opportunity for athletes to compete in a genuine team environment, The 2019 Trans Tasman Challenge will be held on 13 January 2019 at the Campbelltown Athletics Stadium, Leumeah.

AUSTRALIAN LITTLE ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS 28-29 April 2018, Runaway Bay Sports Super Centre, Gold Coast The Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC) was held up at the Gold coast this year, again in the day format ALAC is a highly contested team of 26 Under 13 athletes and 6 Under 15 multi event athletes selected each year to represent each state in the only interstate Little Athletics competition. The NSW team always prepares with 2 camps at Narrabeen where the team trains, participates in team building and has a lot of fun! 20

Cherrybrook was not represented at ALAC this year. Congratulations to the NSW team who took out the overall point score and trophy in the main U13 competition, and to Western Australia who edged out NSW to win the U15 multi event point score. JUNIOR AWARDS COLOUR PATCHES The colour patch achievement system is targeted at the U7-U17 Age Groups to encourage individuals to strive for their best. The award of colour patches does not include the U6 Age Group as the goal of this group is to encourage the enjoyment of athletics and development of basic skills and coordination. As athletes get older, the colour patch is the club’s main system to encourage and reward self-improvement. This season we saw some fantastic personal achievements. This form of recognition is an excellent way for athletes to gain acknowledgment for their personal achievements separate from any achievements they may gain through Representative competition. The tiered structure encourages athletes to strive for their best in a range of events and provides interim rewards as they improve through the year. Results achieved at Gala Days and Representative competition (Zone, Region and State carnivals) can all be included in the patch achievement system

GOLD Patch Award Congratulations to the following athletes awarded a GOLD patch – the club’s highest recognition of personal athletic achievement : William Austin, Joel Moresi , Lachlan Booth, Jonathan Reid and Sian Stewart .

MOST CONSISTENT TRACK ATHLETE AND MOST CONSISTENT FIELD ATHLETE These awards are based on the week by week results of each athlete in the Age Group. To achieve the highest level, it is necessary to attend as many weeks as possible, go in as many events as are available and finish in the top ten in each event that is attempted. The points are computer generated and awarded as follows: 1st = 10 points 2nd = 9 points 3rd = 8 points 4th = 7 points 5th = 6 points 6th = 5 points 7th = 4 points 8th = 3 points 9th = 2 points 10th = 1 point

MOST IMPROVED ATHLETE As with the Most Consistent Athlete, this award is also dependant on the number of times an athlete attends and the number of events participated in. Points are awarded if an athlete improves their best time or distance in each attempted event. Points for this award are calculated as follows: Better than last personal best = 10 Points Equal to last personal best = 5 Points To be eligible for any of the above awards an athlete should have attended at least 52% of the available weeks in the season, or have a legitimate reason for attending less eg injury. Consideration may also be given to dual registered athletes U12+ who may also be competing in the weekend Seniors program.

NB: If an athlete gains first place in all three awards, they will be given the Most Consistent Track & Field Athlete award, as that is seen as the most prestigious award. The first runner up for the Most Improved Award will then become the Most Improved trophy recipient. If an athlete gains first place in either the Most Consistent Track or Most Consistent Field awards and first in the Most Improved award, they will be given the Most Consistent Track or Most Consistent Field Athlete award, as that is seen as the most prestigious award. The first runner up for the Most Improved Award will then become the Most Improved trophy recipient. Actual points given as quoted above can be changed from season to season. It should be noted that the committee will work out which week the calculation for the above awards will commence.

HIGH ACHIEVER AWARD Ben has had a genuine love of running fast since he was very small. He first discovered how fast he was when in kindergarten, he went to his big brother’s cross country training, and announced that he was going to beat all the kids (who were 2 years+ older than him) as they practiced the school’s cross country course. He achieved this goal, and his athletics career was underway!! His competitive streak came out the following week again at cross country training when the kids all did the beep test which 6yo Ben was determined to “win”. He outlasted all but 1 of the kids (who was in year 6), but took a while to recover as he had pushed himself to the absolute limit.

Ben started Little Athletics at Cherrybrook the following year in the Under 7’s. He was very blessed to have a big, friendly and competitive age group, and he loved coming each week. He was first coached by Nicky Jenneke prior to State Cross County in 2009 where he earned the nickname “the machine” for his ability to just keep on going. He always loved the Friday night fun with friends, and was happy to have a go at any event. In fact his first ever State gold medal was in a 4x100 relay where the “3 Bens” and 1 other won the U9 4x100m at the State relay Championships. And whilst not renowned for his shot or discus abilities (can’t think why), he has even competed in throws at State Relays to make up a team with his friends.

Since then Ben has competed every year at Zone, Regional and State, as well as at various Relay Championships and Cross Countries. From the outset, he has worked hard on his running technique, and genuinely loves going to training. He has been very blessed to have other great athletes around him both at Cherrybrook and at Trinity Grammar School where he does most of his training. He has really enjoyed athletics culture at its best, and has learned the value of encouragement and friendship, hard work and sportsmanship, and dealing with disappointments as well as victories.

Many of Ben’s favourite times in athletics have been team events. Firstly, Trans Tasman where he went over to New Zealand as an U11, and competed as part of the NSW team in Auckland. He credits this trip away from family as a pivotal time that helped him to become more organised and independent, which has helped him fit in the demands of training and school with other sports and commitments. He also has wonderful memories and a number of enduring friendships from the ALAC team which travelled to Melbourne in 2014. And nothing beats the camaraderie of his school CAS championships where the thousands of chanting school boys create an atmosphere like no other event. He’s also really enjoyed his times in recent years on a Friday night helping age manage the U6 boys, and coaching this year when he’s able to get to Cherrybrook. He plans to do a coaching course in the next year or so and would love to pursue further coaching opportunities at some point.

A brief summary of his major Little Athletics achievements are: • 5 LA’s State Cross Country Gold medals + 2 Bronze • Trans Tasman Boys Captain 2011 in New Zealand, and again in 2012 in Sydney • Making the 2014 ALAC team, and being the Boys Team Captain 2014 • ALAC Bronze medals in 800m and 1500m • Numerous Regional and State medals in 800m, 1500m and 3000m • Ben holds a number of Cherrybrook records from U11-U15 in the 400m, 800m, 1500m and 3K events Ben looks forward to continuing in athletics and improving his times in the years to come. He would love to represent Australia in athletics one day in the future.

T.J. BEALE PERPETUAL TROPHY Cherrybrook Little Athletics commenced in 1994. The club was financially strong in the initial season due to a generous contribution by Mr T.J. Beale. The committee of the first season decided that it was important to recognise the contribution of Mr Beale and created the T.J. Beale Perpetual Trophy (Mr Beale passed away during the 1998/1999 season). The award is given to a girl and boy athlete who epitomise the philosophy of Little Athletics. Criteria for the award consist of an attendance of at least 70%, a positive attitude and a willingness to embrace good sportsmanship, and must have been a member of the Club for at least 2 years. During the 2000/2001 season the committee agreed that the perpetual trophy would be awarded annually to athletes in the Under Twelve Age Group.

JUNIOR REPORTS REGISTRAR’S REPORT Shoba Ramaraj Little Athletics Registrar This season saw some changes in the registration process. The registration numbers are unique for every athlete in Little Athletics, opposed to two athletes in two different centres holding the same registration number. At the end of our Friday night competition season we finished with a membership of 413 Little Athletes which is almost identical to last year. 41% of these members were re-registrations and it is great to have these members returning, several of them for many a season now. Of the remaining 50%, 39% were new members and the remaining 10% were transfers from other clubs. In total we had members from 267 different families with 124 of those families new to Cherrybrook. The majority of families just have the 1 member but this year we had 9 families with 4 members – do you know who they are? Of our 413 members there were 15 more girls than boys so fairly even across the membership as a whole, however a number of age groups had significantly more of one sex than the other, for example we had 22 U13 boys but only 10 U13 girls. Similarly in the U7s we had 32 girls but only 15 boys. This can obviously cause a few programming issues that are difficult to plan for when you don’t know how many people are going to register. Our largest group this year was the U7 Girls, U10 Boys, U10 Girls each with 32 registered members. Thanks must go to the age managers for these groups in particular who do a great job to give everyone the time to complete their events. We once again tried a different approach to those wishing to trial, trying to get a balance between having the trial weeks 2 weeks after the start of the season but far enough in so that they will get to experience a “normal” week rather than what can sometimes be a bit of a busy/chaotic first week or two. In total we had 55 triallists, with 27 of those then registering as full members. At this point I would like to say a big thank you to Trish Bright at the LANSW office for her continued support and also to Elizabeth Jones, who has been a great Assistant, able to take over for the weeks when I was not around and helping me out immensely at the registration days and at the start of the season on those first Friday nights. Thanks also to the many Committee members for their assistance during the season, starting with the registration days. This is my first season as the Junior Registrar. It’s been an interesting year of learning new stuff about the registration process and how Little Athletics operates. Thanks to everyone who has supported me to make my job easier and I am glad that I will be continuing this next year.

CHAMPIONSHIPS REPORT Jen Bishop Championships Officer Well what a wonderful season we have seen for Cherrybrook Little Athletics. There have been so many highlights this year, and we have been blessed with many great performances which have been the culmination of much hard work from our community of parents, age managers, coaches and committee that work behind the scenes to support our athletes as they compete each week. From just over 160 entries into the Zone Championships, we then had an amazing 119 make it through to the Regional Championships, and 51 Athletes through to the State Championships as well as 2 wonderful PARA athletes. In terms of representation, we had 2 other firsts – Kailyn Joseph was selected to compete at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast where she competed very admirably to finish 5th in the long jump, and our wonderful Elizabeth Jones was also selected as an official at the Comm. Games which was a deserved reward for the countless hours she has served as an official over the last few years. Our committee has continued to develop our 3-week program as well as our successful Multi nights and invitationals. We also had good participation this year again at the State Relay championships and NSW Cross country where our athletes enjoy the camaraderie of team competition. Our athletes benefitted greatly from the development of a number of “junior coaches” on Friday nights largely from our U17 age group – it’s been great to see them develop their skills and remain involved at Little Athletics whilst providing both great coaching and mentoring of our younger athletes.

RECORDS AND RANKINGS REPORT Jill Ingram, Christian Budden Records and Rankings Officer and Website Coordinator The 2017/18 season has once again seen some excellent results and records from our Little Athletes. There were several records broken four of which were walks records. Our records are signed off by club officials and have certain conditions attached to the setting of each record. 27

Congratulations to all athletes who broke club records this season. This season the weather was extremely kind with only one week cancelled due to heavy rain and one night finishing early due to rain. I hope all families have been logging on to ResultsHQ to view online results, PB’s, motivational gold stars for each PB, tickets, all seasons results and graphical charts showing athletes results compared to centre average results and club records. The system is motivational for the athlete and provides streamlined & simplified results processing. If you have not had the opportunity to login and check your athlete’s results I encourage you to do so by going to http://www.resultshq.com.au/ Use your email and password you used when registering for Little Athletics. If you do not know your password or username, click on the link below the login boxes on the screen and follow its prompts. Live track results were introduced this season. This means that after each race is saved the results are automatically uploaded to ResultsHQ. I would like to thank the following people for assisting in running the gates every week – Phillip Lamperts (setup & outer track), Martin Bradshaw (setup), Amanda Jubb (inner & outer track), Nicci Frykberg (inner & outer track), Tanya Visevoc(straight track), David Cowell (gates), and Karen Tayler-Gurney (hurdles & straight track) all of whom are volunteer parents. I would also like to thank all the age managers and parent volunteers for organizing their athletes in lane order at the end of each race, arranging for the field event results to be entered on either an iPad, tablet, smart phone or the field event laptop and the parent helpers who assisted with setting up and packing up the gates. With a number of the regular gate operators moving on to the senior athletics club or other endeavors, we would welcome more assistance with operating the gate computers next season. It is not an arduous task, you basically only need to enter the athlete numbers into the computer and you get to see your children as they compete in their events. If you are interested in assisting as a regular gate operator, please let Christian or any committee member know when you register. Full training will be provided. It has been great to see more people using their mobile technology ie. Tablets, iPads or smart phones to enter field event results. Results entered using a Tablet, iPad or smart phone are uploaded and become live on save. Most people can easily make a hotspot to the internet via their mobile phone, we would be happy to show you how and it only uses a tiny amount of data. We have also been trialing the CompetionHQ phone app which works well on Android and Apple devices and provides a good number pad for data entry. Thank you to Christian and Marsha Budden who took over the Records and Rankings role this season. I did however attend most weeks with my daughter Rachel and I assisted with the gates. Next season however, you will be fully in the capable hands of Christian and Marsha as I look forward to spending Friday nights at home with my family after 16 years of Friday night Little Athletics at the track with my four children. It has been truly rewarding being part of Cherrybrook Little Athletics it has provided our family with lots of Family, Fun and Fitness - Jill Ingram.

AGE MANAGERS’ REPORT Charlene Stewart Age Manager Coordinator A sincere thank you to all the Age Managers and their Assistants for their contributions throughout the 2017/2018 athletics season. Whether it was assisting athletes with their technique, being a source of encouragement, taking athletes from event to event, or sharing in the joy of new personal bests being accomplished, our Friday night meetings would not have run as efficiently as they did without our Age Managers. This season saw the return of many familiar faces from previous seasons, particularly in the junior age groups, as well as some new faces happy to take the reins. Once again, some of our older athletes – Rachel Ingram, Eleanor Lamperts, Ryan Jones and Ben Bishop - in particular stepped up and assisted with our beginning athletes. Their knowledge and valuable tips were gratefully appreciated by the U6 athletes and their parents, as well as the Committee. I would also like to thank those parents who filled in for our Age Managers when they were absent. Your time and efforts were appreciated. We have had some amazing performances throughout the season, countless personal bests attained, and hundreds of coloured patches awarded. Friendships have been established and strengthened, smiles have been in abundance and lots of fun has been had. I have no doubt this would not happen to the extent that it does without the help of our Age Managers. We look forward to working with you again next season.

NB: Changes to State and Australian Records: At the LANSW Board Meeting of August 2014, the Board approved to consolidate manual and electronic State record times, to one set of best performance records. The formula used for standardising the hand held time is as follows: For distances under 400m: Hand held time + 0.24 seconds For distances of 400m or 4x100m relay: Hand held time + 0.14 seconds For distances greater than 400m: No change A standardised time is indicated with [S]. Historical documents are to be kept on the LANSW website. State Multi records are no longer being kept as there have been multiple changes made to the point scoring system which makes the year to year performances difficult to com

This year the Club had its first ever registered athletes compete at the Commonwealth games. For those athletes who achieved a goal, performed a PB or made an Australian team, CONGRATULATIONS. For those who competed in the Treloar Shield, State Relays or Club Championships, THANK YOU for being part of team Cherrybrook. A Big Thank you to all the Coaches, parents, family members, officials and volunteers who are instrumental in developing and supporting our fine athletes.

The World School Championships are conducted as a team event with a point score system similar to the Australian Knock Out format. The PLC Team won GOLD at the Championships with three Cherrybrook Athletes making up half the team and performing outstanding results. The PLC team once again won the 2017 Australian All School Knock Outs and are eligible to compete at the next World School Championships to be held in Croatia in mid 2019. Both Georgia and Emilia Duncan will be eligible for selection in the team.

COMMONWEALTH GAMES April 2018, Gold Coast, Australia Well done to our two amazing athletes Alysha Burnett (Heptathlon) and Kailyn Joseph (T38) Long Jump on their selection in the Australian team for the Commonwealth Games that was held in the Gold Coast in April. Kailyn has been consistent all season and was rewarded with all her hard work in training and competition when she jumped a 4.15m at the NSW state championships – she then gained selection 2 weeks later by jumping a 2nd qualifying performance of 4.09m at the Australian open championships. Alysha was also super impressive by posting a big PB and B qualifying performance of 5835 points at the World University Games in July 2017 which was backed up by 4 other qualifying performances featuring a Gold medal at NSW Open Champs and a Bronze medal at the Australian Open championships. During the Commonwealth Games Kailyn Joseph (T37 Long Jump) placed 5th in the T38 Long Jump with an amazing jump of 4.06m however placed 1st out of 3 athletes in the T37 Category which is such a magnificent result for an athlete who is just 15 years old! Alysha Burnett was in sensation form by opening the Heptathlon with 2 PB’s – High Jump (1.87m) and Shot Put (13.62m) and was leading the competition after 3 events until she tore her hamstring in the 4th event – 200m. Alysha was brave on day 2 of competition where she finished the remaining 3 events to finish with a very respectable 5628pts and 9th place in the Commonwealth Games. MASTERS INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS 2017 Masters Rankings have been improved dramatically over the last couple of years and most performances are automatically uploaded eg Treloar, State, National Championships etc. Some events eg Allcomers etc are a bit hit and miss and so the shown performance may not in practice be the best achieved by an individual during the year. Rankings are shown for any event in which an individual is ranked in the Australian top 10, Oceania top 15 or World top 50.

NSW & AUSTRALIAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

Well Done to Emily Britton (coached by Mick Zisti) who was one of 15 NSW athletes selected in the U/17 National Development program in 2017 for the Hurdles event group. In addition to this, congratulations to Kristina Moore (Discus) who was one of 13 NSW athletes selected for the U/19 Talent squad which is a group selected based on the athlete’s potential to be future senior international athletes for our country.

We also had 10 Cherrybrook Athletes selected in the 2017 Athletics NSW Target Talent Program squad which features a 6 month schedule of training and educational sessions facilitated by some of the state’s best Athletics Coaches held at SOPAC. Athletes who were selected included: Katie Devitt (sprints), Emily Britton, Imogen Breslin, Nicholas Dang and Nick Thomson (Hurdles) who are all coached by Mick Zisti. Kailyn Joseph (Jumps) and Julie Charlton, Kristina Moore, Lauren Clark and Scott Chapman (coached by John Sharpe) also participated in (Throws) for the program. DANIEL BERRY SENIORS AWARD Daniel Berry was a Cherrybrook Seniors athlete from 2009 – 2013. Throughout this period Daniel broke many NSW and Australian records in the U20 and Open Male PARA divisions in running events ranging from 100m - 1500m as well as Long Jump and Discus. He also participated for Cherrybrook Athletics on a regular basis at interclub competitions, State Relays and All Comers events with great enthusiasm and determination every time he competed. In July 2013 Daniel tragically lost his life to cancer at the young age of 22. He will be long remembered by our club for his loving nature, generous spirit, tenacious excellent sportsmanship, competitive drive, humble attitude and the inspirational way he lived his life on and off the athletics track. In memory of Daniel Berry, the 2013/14 Cherrybrook Athletics Committee introduced the Daniel Berry Award for senior athletes. The criteria to win this award are as follows:

Age: 16+. Attitude and Sportsmanship: A positive attitude and a willingness to embrace good sportsmanship. Attendance: The athlete must have competed a minimum of 8 times in a season which can include representation for Cherrybrook Senior Athletics, NSW Athletics and/or Athletics Australia. Must have been a member of the Club for at least 2 years. Eleanor Lamperts Eleanor Lamperts is one of our many amazing and gifted U/18 athletes who has been part of the Cherrybrook seniors club since 2013/14. In season 2017/18 Ellie represented the club on 15 occasions this season which included 6 of the 7 Treloar Shields, 2 days of NSW State Relays and 2 days of the Club Championships events. It is clear to everyone that she is a strong team player and loves to be involved in any relay that is on offer – she was involved in 3 x relay teams entered for the Treloar Shield (4x100m, 4x200m & 4x400m) and was involved in a record 7 relay events at the NSW State relays where she was a very strong contributor to the club and earnt 3 team medals (Gold, Silver and Bronze) in the U/18 and U/20 sprint relay event(s). Eleanor is also a very consistent athlete and was one of our top point scorers in the Junior division of the Treloar Shield(s) and Club Championship(s) as she competed regularly in the 100m and 200m events and also the occasional 400m which may be a future pet event of hers. A positive attitude is always shown by Eleanor each and every week towards Cherrybrook athletes, parents, officials and other competitors. She has an infectious smile, a generous spirit and excellent sportsmanship when competing on the track. She is super supportive of all her club mates and can often be found cheering on and applauding any Cherrybrook competitor that is on the track – especially those distance runners! She is also a fantastic role for our Little Athletics competitors as well as our senior competitors thanks to her competitive drive, humility and caring nature. Congratulations Ellie!

SENIOR CURRENT RECORDS Whilst every effort is made to ensure that all records are correct, we rely heavily on Athletes to inform the Club if they have broken a record. Records may be broken at Club level, at major LA’s Championship event and at any verifiable NSW, Australian or International meet, consideration will be given to records achieved at major school events such as CCC, CHS and CIS. If a record has been missed please notify the club. Records for the U14 and U16 Age Groups are only awarded for events, which have the same senior competition specifications, this means that some LA’s State results may not be used as records eg 200m hurdles and some throw events. Records for these two Age Groups cannot be achieved at club level. Updated 24/4/18.

CLUB REPORTS SECRETARY’S REPORT Phillip Lamperts This is the second season that our Club has been operating under the new Constitutional arrangements of a single Committee overseeing both Senior and Junior divisions and it has bedded in well. A number of additional positions have been created in Seniors to cover competition activities, and this is performing well. Our Executive and General Committee held 9 meetings throughout the season, with both divisions being represented at each meeting. Agendas were set and Minutes recorded for all meetings and sent to Committee members to ensure efficient communication and decision making. Significant decisions taken by Committee included – extending the Travel Allowance Scheme to include appropriately qualified officials, purchase of new equipment including new scissor mats and starting devices, overseeing new security lock system for club facilities liaised with Council and introduction of Active Kids Voucher system. Much correspondence was entered into to attend to operational and administrative matters with Little Athletics NSW and ANSW that aided in the smooth running of the Club and interclub competition at a junior and senior club level respectively. This was also the case with Council, with whom we submit our Summer and Winter Sportsground Licence applications. The LANSW and ANSW AGM’s were attended by members, as were NM Zone and Region 5 meetings.

EQUIPMENT REPORT Anthony Flaherty Thank you to all the parents and athletes who regularly arrive early and help set up equipment. This is quite a huge to task to achieve by myself and all of you who regularly help are very much appreciated. Thank you Nicole Cherry and Liz Reakes for occupying the Token table The inclusion of the token system made a significant improvement to the parent help system. This year we obtained new junior shot puts, communication devices and high jump scissor mats.

OFFICIALS REPORT Jenny Bishop/Elizabeth Jones Every year we like to acknowledge the many people that work behind the scenes at our carnivals to make it possible for our athletes to compete. Officials are required to run the events at each carnival to a strict set of rules to make competition fair and safe for everyone. Officials undertake training to ensure consistency and fairness in judging and running events. Yet again, Cherrybrook has been blessed with many parents and friends of the club who have willingly given up their time to officiate at our various carnivals. We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to you all! A number of the Cherrybrook community have officiated at Little Athletics and Seniors Athletics Carnivals this year: Moose Moore, Colleen Reid, Phillip Lamperts, Elizabeth Jones, Fiona Liu, Sean O’Connor, Craig Little, Nicola Craig, Jill Ingram, Thomas Jubb, Cheryl Burnett, and Alexandra Pearce who has officiated up in Queensland. Thanks also to Jen Bishop with the assistance of Kate Tong who have been our Little Athletics Championships officers this year. Amongst our seniors, Matt Joyce, David Britton, and Rob Clark along with assistance from Nicky Jenneke have done a terrific job co-ordinating all the Seniors Championships, along with results and weekly emails. This year we would specifically also like to acknowledge Elizabeth Jones who has the great honour of being selected to officiate at the Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast in April. Elizabeth has put in a huge number of hours over the last few years officiating and training to make this possible, and we congratulate her on her selection – an awesome achievement. Being an official is very rewarding, so please consider joining in next season! Should you choose to become an official, all you need to do to make a start is complete a level 1 course online with an open book exam. There are then opportunities to work with a trained official and learn more at either a Little or Senior Athletics carnival. Our Zone is committed to mentoring new officials in order to continue the high standard of competition that we have enjoyed for many years at the various championships, – so consider having a go next season - being an official really helps you to better understand and enjoy the , so is very worthwhile

COACHING REPORT Valmé Kruger Coaches have a responsibility to prepare their athletes physically and mentally for athletic competition. Thus, many athletes develop a desire to produce successful performance and gain mastery of any task completed. For example, an athlete may not only want to win the contest but may also aspire to perform sport skills exceptionally well in order to produce peak performance. Without question, coaches have an opportunity to assist athletes with performance enhancement. The Senior Track and Field Coaches at Cherrybrook Athletics Club as listed below is aware that athletes should develop a series of short-term goals which allow measurable progress toward achieving a long-term goal. The coaches at Cherrybrook Athletics Club assist athletes from all ages in developing to their full potential during the week and also assist at the Friday night LA’s meets with up and coming younger coaches. They are responsible for coaching athletes in the different events by analyzing their performances, instructing them in relevant skills and by providing encouragement. All Senior Track and Field Coaches at Cherrybrook Athletics club are expected to be qualified and accredited. The younger up and coming coaches undergo continuous on-going training under the guidance of an accredited and higher level coach or mentor, specifically on a Friday night competition. It is furthermore required from our Senior Coaches to refresh their knowledge by staying actively involved which will extend their experience of coaching and keep up to date with new ideas by attending on-going coaching courses conducted by the Australian Track And Field Coaches Association. The younger coaches on a Friday night are being rotated to different events for them to get more experience, confidence and exposure. All athletes are equally important to us and that is why we have multiple training sessions during the week to cater for the different standards and age of each athlete. Our senior ranks are also growing in numbers and the strength indicating that the depth in our Club is growing and of course with outstanding results. Friday night coaching focus moved to more specific and consistent training in preparation for the Zone, Regional and State LA’s Competitions. Many of our younger coaches, Sam Coburn; Emily Jones; Lleyton Wong; Rachel Ingram; William Mills; Ella Bradford; Kaitlyn Joseph; Eleanor Lamperts; Ryan Jones; Ben Bishop and Jasmine Williams played a big role to the club’s successes at the LA’s coaching sessions on Friday night’s competitions mentored by Valmé Kruger. The younger coaches that are not qualifies are encouraged to be accredited on a Level 1 through NSW. Our thanks go out to all our qualified coaches for the exceptional dedication and hard work that they have put in during the season of 2017/2018 with outstanding results. In particular – Valmé Kruger, John Sharpe, Mick Zisti, and who again have worked hard to bring out the best in our athletes to provide wonderful expertise and encouragement to many of our athletes week to week. Special thanks also to Nick Andrews a very competent and high-level athlete in hurdles from Cherrybrook Athletics Club for many years who ran a great little group of hurdlers who also performed particularly well. We are very fortunate to have such experienced and dedicated coaches working with our athletes. coaches working with our athletes.

TREASURER’S REPORT Sandra Moore Cherrybrook Athletics Centre’s (“The Centre”) financial position as at 31 March 2018 remains strong despite the operating loss for the year. The Centre has Accumulated Funds of $109,544 having decreased from the previous year of $121,899 as a result of the current year’s Operating Loss of $12,355. The Accumulated Funds are represented by Assets of $109,544 (Cash $83,491, Plant & Equipment at wdv $8,080, Uniform Stock $17,972) with no Liabilities.

The operating loss of $12,355 compares with a profit of $10,293 in the previous year. The major reasons for the result this year compared with last year are: the reduction in net Registration Income of $3,408; the reduction in Uniform profit of $2,534; Uniform Stock write-off of $5,900; reduction in Canteen profit of $1,828; reduction in Sponsorship income of $1,800; increase in Presentation night and Awards and trophy expense of $5,060; increase in Athlete Funding of $3,150; and increase in Competition expense of $1,810. These items are all discussed further below.

Total Canteen Sales for the year decreased by $2,141 (12%) to $15,373. After Purchases the Net Profit from Canteen has decreased by $1,828 (16%) to $9,711. We have continued to enjoy the support of our members on a Friday night although numbers have been down.

Total Uniform Sales for the year of $17,028 increased from last year by $2,161 (15%). The net loss for the year of $5,677 ($5,900 write-off and operating loss of $223) compares with a profit from last year of $2,757. Our new club uniform was introduced this season and the larger stock balance this year is due to the purchase of batches of the new uniform and the deliberate rundown of stock of the old uniform last year. The loss for the year is mainly due to the stock write off of $5,900 of old style uniforms remaining as at 31 March 2018 which we have donated overseas. The new club uniform has been phased in this past season and the phasing-in period concludes next season. As at 31 March 2017 we had prepaid a deposit to the supplier of the new uniforms of $9,206 which has been included in Purchase expense this year.

Other Income decreased by $5,439 (12%) to $40,827, which is mainly attributable to decreases in Registration fees received ($4,115) and Sponsorship ($1,800 - we received no sponsorship money from our previous sponsors). Registration fees received net of Registration expenses (paid to Little Athletics and Athletics NSW) are $34,792 which is a decrease from last year of $3,408 (9%). Total number of registered athletes at 524 are down on last year of 580 by 56 (10%).

Other Expenses increased by $6,929 (14%) to $57,196. The major increases are:

• Athlete funding increase of $3,150 to $8,500. The current year included funding support for 8 overseas trips whereas there were no qualifying overseas trips in the previous year; • Trophies & Awards and AGM & Presentation Night increased by $5,060 to $13,370 from $8,310. The 2017 expense includes less first time state jackets than usual and more economical alternate gifts. The 2018 expense of $13,370 is comparable to the 2016 expense of $13,079; and • Competition entry fees and expenses increased by $1,810 largely due to the charge for the Region carnival this year at SOPAC of $1,190 which we normally don’t incur when the carnival is held at Narrabeen.

The net written down value of Plant & Equipment has decreased in total from $19,013 to $8,080 as a result of depreciation of $12,902. There was one addition (High jump scissormat for $1,969) and no disposals this year. Depreciation expense was still high this year due to the large amount of additions in the 2015 year totalling $50,772.

I would like to thank the Committee members for their continued help and support during the year. I would also like to thank the many volunteers who have assisted in running the Centres operations, in particular the Uniform ladies and Canteen helpers. It is only through everyone’s efforts that we can make our children’s athletic experience an enjoyable, fulfilling and successful one.

HISTORY

LITTLE ATHLETICS Little Athletics commenced in Geelong, Victoria in October 1964. New South Wales’ first Little Athletics centre, Randwick Botany, started in1968 and the NSW Little Athletics Association was formed in 1970. The LANSW now has approximately 200 centres and around 40,000 registered athletes each season Competition at Cherrybrook commenced in 1994 to offer the sport to children within the Cherrybrook area and surrounds. The main purpose of our Friday club night is to encourage all our athletes to compete and improve in every event. The ideals of the Little Athletics movement will be attained if concern for a child’s placing in an event is secondary to praise for individual improvement. During the 2017-2018 Little Athletics season the club had 413 registered little athletes and a high percentage of these competed for the club at a representative level e.g. zone and State relays. Cherrybrook Athletics is a 100% volunteer run athletics centre, with our parents providing most of the help, from Age Managers and helpers to officials and helpers at track and field events. The assistance by all our parents is invaluable to the successful running of the club and the club would like to thank all our parent members for their contribution this season.

SENIOR ATHLETICS The Cherrybrook Seniors Club commenced in the 2001/2002 season and has now completed its 16th season. The club provides a great environment for athletes to undertake athletics whatever their individual goals are - catering for athletes who wished to compete for fun or as a club athlete to those with international aspirations. The 2017/18 Membership was made up of 111 athletes plus 3 Senior Officials. This number includes 51 dual registered athletes with Cherrybrook Little Athletics Club. Our athletes compete regularly in the National Tour Events, and medal consistently and in depth across various events at State and National Championships including in the Masters and PARA Categories. Our athletes also now feature prominently in the various State based and National Development Squads and in both National and International Rankings as well as competing internationally, at a Youth and Junior Level and in PARA and Masters Categories. Most athletes now compete in Athletics NSW meets on the weekend and few senior athletes competing at Club competition on Friday nights. At the same time we still provide a regular Friday competition night for those who wish to compete at a club level in conjunction with the Little A's competition. This connection with the Little Athletics division is the cornerstone of our Club.
