The Telelogic Tau UML Suite is a best-in-class multi-user toolset that helps companies with systems analysis, and object-oriented modeling. UML is a vendor-independent standard language for specifying, visualizing, constructing, and documenting software systems. Through a state-of-the-art repository and team modeling features, the Tau UML Suite enables users to manage object-oriented modeling components as corporate assets that drive the analysis, design and construction of large-scale applications. The Lockheed Martin Engineering Process Improvement Software Subcouncil first selected Telelogic’s Tau UML Suite as its standard tool for Object Oriented Analysis and Design in 1998. Telelogic’s Tau UML Suite was evaluated using an objective 10 step process required by Lockheed Martin EPI policy and was selected the technical “winner” by a team of senior software engineers with Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) experience. In September 2001, the Subcouncil elected to extend Tau UML Suite’s tenure as the EPI standard for Object Oriented Analysis and Design for an additional three years to 2004. “The extension was based on Telelogic’s ability to improve Tau UML Suite technically,” said Diane Reiss, EPI Engineering Staff Engineer, Lockheed Martin Corporation. Press Information “This significant agreement not only strengthens our long-term relationship with Lockheed Martin, but also further validates the leadership of our best-in-class tools,” said Scott Raskin, president of Telelogic MD Americas. “By automating many manual processes, the Telelogic Tau UML Suite enables companies to reduce costs, speed time-to-market and develop higher quality applications.” According to Ms. Reiss, the evaluation team in 1998 noted a number of tool strengths inherent in the Telelogic Tau UML Suite. “The ability for a team, working in heterogeneous environments, to engineer the same models in a common repository is advantageous, as is the ability to tailor the software development process on a project-by-project basis,” said Reiss. “The team was also impressed by the ease of product installation and the ease of navigation between diagrams.” According to Bill Philbin, senior vice president of Telelogic’s Global Product Organization, Telelogic Tau UML Suite enables organizations to overcome today's key systems design and analysis challenges. “The level of application complexity and the need for quality are out pacing organizations’ resources and time. The ability to work on complex system design in collaboration can cut significant time from the system design process,” said Philbin. “By using Tau UML, companies can develop quality applications that meet all requirements and customer expectations in record time. This is made possible with the robust functionality in Tau which includes built-in project control, multi-user collaboration, process automation, reuse and sharing of components, as well as automatic code generation.” Additionally, Lockheed Martin has renewed its Legacy agreement for Telelogic DOORS for requirements management and has extended its current licenses and service agreements for an additional three-year period. Acquired by Telelogic from Quality Systems & Software in August 2000, DOORS was named the market leader for requirements management by the Standish Group in its December 2000 report.
