Dan began his career as a stills assistant back in Adelaide in 1993, He shot commercial stills work from 1997 to 2003, and still shoots stills for commercial clients today. In 2001 Dan shot his first short film 'Onto’ and was instantly hooked into the moving image. In 2004 Dan started shooting commercials and in the past three years Dan has become one of Australia's hardest working commercial DOP’s shooting several hundred television commercials. In 2008 Dan shot the Tropfest Winning Film “Marry Me,” and in 2010 Dan shot “Wasted on The Young,” the debut feature of WA Film maker Ben C Lucas. Dan Freene was granted his ACS Letters in 2011.
