Build Your Own Degree: Specialists, Majors and Minors When building an Arts, Science, or Business degree, you'll have the opportunity to choose from Specialist, Major, and Minor program options. A Major consists of a concentration of courses in a specific subject area and usually makes up a third of a student’s total courses (6 - 9 credits). Specialists are advanced concentrations, where more than half of the courses will be in one academic area (9 - 16 credits). Minors allow students to explore their general interest in a subject area (4 - 5 credits). Overall, in an undergraduate degree, students will take a minimum of 20 credits in a variety of subjects. Programs allow students to concentrate on one or more academic areas while also taking elective courses. Research Opportunities Program Ready to start making your mark? Beginning in second year, the Research Opportunity Program (ROP) gives you the opportunity to conduct research outside of the classroom, working on meaningful projects with some of the University’s most renowned professors – for course credit! Career Learning Co-op: Fast-track your career with one of the 80+ co-op program options available at U of T Scarborough – the co-op campus. Alternate study terms with work terms, for a total of 8 - 20 months of full-time, paid employment. Whether you’re a management student looking at international finance in a foreign context or an aspiring biologist exploring genomics at a teaching hospital, a tailored, unique experience can be found through the co-op programs.

Professional Experience Year Co-op (PEY Co-op): Students who study engineering or an applied science program at U of T can participate in this program. Spend 12 to 16 months working alongside leaders in your field while earning a competitive salary. PEY Co-op students can gain an additional four months of work experience by participating in an optional summer position after second year. Global Learning Our students are in classrooms all over the world. The Centre for International Experience partners with more than 150 institutions in over 40 countries to offer a variety of global opportunities, and the Summer Abroad program offers more than 39 courses in 19 countries. Students at each of our campuses benefit from distinctive learning environments and co-curricular opportunities while earning the same prestigious U of T degree. On all three campuses, residence is guaranteed for new full-time students entering their first year of a post-secondary program for the first time, provided that they indicate their interest in residence by completing the First Year StarRez application by March 31, and receive and accept an offer of admission by June 1. Students must respond to all deadlines and meet all deposit requirements to maintain their eligibility.

U of T St. George Featuring a blend of neo-Gothic and ultra-modernist architecture, U of T St. George is in downtown Toronto. Since 1827, it’s been home to world-class professional and postgraduate faculties, along with programs across five first-entry divisions: Arts & Science; Applied Science & Engineering; Music; Kinesiology & Physical Education; and Architecture, Landscape & Design. Every student in the Faculty of Arts & Science is affiliated with one of seven colleges: Innis, New, St. Michael’s, Trinity, University, Victoria, or Woodsworth. Colleges offer students a home base and close-knit community, but do not affect program eligibility.

16 U of T Mississauga Nestled in Canada’s sixth largest city, U of T Mississauga is 27 km west of downtown Toronto, and is accessible by shuttle bus and public transit. Its unique programs include Canada’s premier Forensic Science programs; a Department of Language Studies that offers cross-cultural linguistic, literary, and pedagogical training; two business degrees (BCom, BBA); and joint programs with in Art and Art History; Theatre and Drama; and Communication, Culture, Information & Technology.
