Undergraduate students at U of T can choose from more than 700 academic programs, and they can learn from the best minds and most dedicated teachers in each of these fields of study. 97% of our most accomplished researchers teach undergraduate classes. As a U of T student, you’ll want to take advantage of the University’s smaller learning environments. Much like the Toronto region, the University is a community of communities. Working with faculty and other students in close-knit learning groups, students can tailor their experiences to their interests and develop passions that will help them make their mark on the world.

Build Your Own Degree: Specialists, Majors and Minors When building an Arts, Science, or Business degree, you'll have the opportunity to choose from Specialist, Major, and Minor program options. A Major consists of a concentration of courses in a specific subject area and usually makes up a third of a student’s total courses (6 - 9 credits). Specialists are advanced concentrations, where more than half of the courses will be in one academic area (9 - 16 credits). Minors allow students to explore their general interest in a subject area (4 - 5 credits). Overall, in an undergraduate degree, students will take a minimum of 20 credits in a variety of subjects. Programs allow students to concentrate on one or more academic areas while also taking elective courses. Research Opportunities Program Ready to start making your mark? Beginning in second year, the Research Opportunity Program (ROP) gives you the opportunity to conduct research outside of the classroom, working on meaningful projects with some of the University’s most renowned professors – for course credit! Career Learning Co-op: Fast-track your career with one of the 66 co-op program options available only at U of T Scarborough. Alternate study terms with work terms, for a total of 8 - 20 months of full-time, paid employment. Whether you’re a management student looking at international finance in a foreign context or an aspiring biologist exploring genomics at a teaching hospital, a tailored, unique experience can be found through the co-op programs.

Professional Experience Year (PEY): Students who study engineering or an applied science program at any U of T campus can participate in paid internships. Spend 12 to 16 months working alongside leaders in your field—anywhere in the world. Engineering students can also choose a four-month Engineering Summer Internship program (eSIP). Global Learning Our students are in classrooms all over the world. The Centre for International Experience partners with more than 150 institutions in over 40 countries to offer a variety of global opportunities, and the Summer Abroad program offers more than 39 courses in 19 countries.
