RELEX 11/04/2005 POSITION COMMUNE DU CONSEIL du prorogeant et modifiant les mesures restrictives à l'encontre de la Birmanie/du Myanmar LE CONSEIL DE L'UNION EUROPÉENNE, vu le traité sur l'Union européenne, et notamment son article 15, considérant ce qui suit: (1) Le 26 avril 2004, le Conseil a arrêté la position commune 2004/423/PESC 1 renouvelant les mesures restrictives à l'encontre de la Birmanie/du Myanmar. (2) Le 25 octobre 2004, le Conseil a arrêté la position commune 2004/730/PESC 2 concernant des mesures restrictives supplémentaires à l'encontre de la Birmanie/du Myanmar et modifiant la position commune 2004/423/PESC. (3) Le 21 février 2005, le Conseil a arrêté la position commune 2005/149/PESC 3 modifiant l'Annexe II de la position commune 2004/423/PESC. (4) L'Union européenne rappelle sa position sur la situation politique qui règne en Birmanie/au Myanmar et considère que les développements récents ne justifient pas une suspension des mesures restrictives. (5) En conséquence, les mesures restrictives à l'encontre de la Birmanie/du Myanmar énoncées par la position commune 2004/423/PESC, telle que modifiée respectivement par les positions communes 2004/730/PESC et 2005/149/PESC, devraient rester en vigueur. (6) Le Conseil considère que, bien que certaines mesures imposées par la position commune 2004/423/PESC visent des personnes associées au régime birmanes/du Myanmar ainsi que les membres de leur famille, les enfants en-dessous de 18 ans, ne devraient, en principe, pas être ciblés. SLOW FLOWERS The renaissance of local, Americanseasonal, and sustainable Beauty flowers By Debra Prinzing The Slow Flowers Movement helps The Slow Flowers Movement is rooted in a single question: connect consumers with flowers. “Do you know where your flowers come from?”Unfortunately, It also gives voice to flower farmers, most people do not. When the California Cut Flower Commission surveyed U.S. consumers, 74 percent answered “no” to this query. shining a light on their crops, To a follow-up question that asked “If you were given a choice to buy American-grown flowers, would you?” a majority of respondents–58 practices, and stories. And it supports percent – said “yes.” So the issue isn’t whether consumers want their flowers to innovative florists, shops, and studios come from nearby farms and their purchases to benefit local farm who (like those progressive chefs) economies. Rather, it’s an issue of transparency, choice, and access. My interest in the revival of domestic cut flowers has taken me believe that local sourcing is a core across the country to meet growers raising beautiful crops on small and large farms from Alaska to Florida, from the Southwest to New principle of their company values. Many of the stories I gathered have appeared in magazines and newspapers, and finally in a book aptly called The 50 Mile Bouquet (St. Lynn’s Press, 2012), which documented pioneering flower farmers, progressive floral designers, and inspired DIY flower lovers. Then, I spent one full year creating a floral arrangement every week, using only what my garden provided or what I procured from local flower farms in my region, the Pacific Northwest. -

Yangon, Myanmar +951 562439 Acknowledgement of Myanmar Development Research This edition of the “Fact Book of Political Parties in Myanmar (2010-2012)” is the first published collection of facts and information of political parties which legally registered at the Union Election Commission since the pre-election period of Myanmar’s milestone 2010 election and the post-election period of the 2012 by-elections. This publication is also an important milestone for Myanmar Development Research (MDR) as it is the organization’s first project that was conducted directly in response to the needs of civil society and different stakeholders who have been putting efforts in the process of the political transition of Myanmar towards a peaceful and developed democratic society. We would like to thank our supporters who made this project possible and those who worked hard from the beginning to the end of publication and launching ceremony. Terms of Reference and Scope of Services Assignment Title: Regional Office Consultant (National) Reference No: C 53 ONE CONSULTANT for the RAKHINE STATE OFFICE Date of Issue: 03 Nov 2020 Background The Republic of the Union of Myanmar has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of its NCDD Project which is being implemented by the Department of Rural Development (DRD) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation. NCDDP Cycle 5 is currently being implemented in 63 townships (see the below table), and will expand to a peak of 76 townships in Year 6 (2020). In each township, the NCDDP was originally implemented with the support of a township level technical assistance team (TTA) (procured by DRD and provided by a mix of domestic and international firms and NGOs). The TTA teams provided technical assistance and capacity building support to the township DRD teams for the initial operations in each township and the State/ Regional project offices are well organized with an adequate project staff to have close supervision/ administration to and liaising role between the Union and township levels. For detail, please visit http://cdd.drdmyanmar.org/ Rationale A total of 11 (eleven) State/ Regional Office consultants were recruited and contracted under 12 months’ assignment in October 2019. However, the consultant for Rakhine State office could not be mobilized due to less of interest by the applicants. The NCDDP is being implemented for its 4 project years in the two townships namely GWA and PONNAGYUN started in cycle 5 in 2017 and in 2020 or the 6th cycle, one more township is confirmed for further extension of the project implementation in Manaung township. -
