Her music draws from a wide array of influences including minimalism, spectralism, folk, and electronic mediums. Susanna’s music has been played by the JACK Quartet, ZAFA Collective, and Metropolis Ensemble, and members of the St. Louis Symphony. Her compositions have been featured in concerts and festivals throughout the world including the Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival and Dimitria Festival in Thessaloniki, Greece. Susanna is currently an Artist in Residence at National Sawdust with Kinds of Kings, a composer collective dedicated to making the music community a more equitable and inclusive space. She is also Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Terroir New Music, a concert/event series that pairs the music of living composers with craft food and drink. During the last seventeen years of his life, Schiller struck up a productive, if complicated, friendship with already famous and influential <a href="http://www.poemhunter.com/johann-wolfgang-von- goethe/">Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe</a>. They frequently discussed issues concerning aesthetics, and Schiller encouraged Goethe to finish works he left as sketches. This relationship and these discussions led to a period now referred to as Weimar Classicism. They also worked together on Xenien, a collection of short satirical poems in which both Schiller and Goethe challenge opponents to their philosophical vision. <b>Life</b> Friedrich Schiller was born on 10 November 1759, in Marbach, Württemberg as the only son of military doctor Johann Kaspar Schiller (1733–96), and Elisabeth Dorothea Kodweiß (1732–1802). They also had five daughters. His father was away in the Seven Years' War when Friedrich was born. He was named after king Frederick the Great, but he was called Fritz by nearly everyone. Kaspar Schiller was rarely home during the war, but he did manage to visit the family once in a while. His wife and children also visited him occasionally wherever he happened to be stationed. When the war ended in 1763, Schiller's father became a recruiting officer and was stationed in Schwäbisch Gmünd. The family moved with him. Due to the high cost of living—especially the rent—the family moved to nearby Lorch. -

MY Third Stay At Wiko Toshio Hosokawa toshio Hosokawa was born in Hiroshima, Japan in 1955. After initial studies in tokyo, he came to Berlin in 1976 to study Composition at the Hochschule der Künste under Isang Yun. From 1983 to 1986, he continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg under Klaus Huber. He has received numerous awards and prizes, including the Irino Prize for Young Composers (1982), the First Prize in the composition compe- tition for the 100th anniversary of the Berliner Philharmonisches Orchester (1982), the Arion Music Prize (1984), the Composition Prize of the Young Generation in europe (1985), the Kyoto Music Prize (1988), the Rheingau Music Prize and Duisburger Music Prize (both 1998), and the Roche Commissions Award (2007). In 2001, Hosokawa was elected a Member of the Berlin Academy of the Arts. Since 2004 he has been Permanent visiting Professor at tokyo College of Music. Marco Polo – the Label of Discovery
Marco Polo – The Label of Discovery Doubt was expressed by his contemporaries as to the truth of Marco Polo’s account of his years at the court of the Mongol Emperor of China. For some he was known as a man of a million lies, and one recent scholar has plausibly suggested that the account of his travels was a fiction inspired by a family dispute. There is, though, no doubt about the musical treasures daily uncovered by the Marco Polo record label. To paraphrase Marco Polo himself: All people who wish to know the varied music of men and the peculiarities of the various regions of the world, buy these recordings and listen with open ears. The original concept of the Marco Polo label was to bring to listeners unknown compositions by well-known composers. There was, at the same time, an ambition to bring the East to the West. Since then there have been many changes in public taste and in the availability of recorded music. Composers once little known are now easily available in recordings. Marco Polo, in consequence, has set out on further adventures of discovery and exploration. One early field of exploration lay in the work of later Romantic composers, whose turn has now come again. In addition to pioneering recordings of the operas of Franz Schreker, Der ferne Klang (The Distant Sound), Die Gezeichneten (The Marked Ones) and Die Flammen (The Flames), were three operas by Wagner’s son, Siegfried. Der Bärenhäuter (The Man in the Bear’s Skin), Banadietrich and Schwarzschwanenreich (The Kingdom of the Black Swan) explore a mysterious medieval world of German legend in a musical language more akin to that of his teacher Humperdinck than to that of his father.
