However, with the concerted effort of all colleagues, Chunghwa Post has still managed to attain the goal of surplus transfer to the Treasury. At the onset of 2020, the Severe Pneumonia with Novel Pathogens (COVID-19) has spread all over the globe. To align with national epidemic prevention policies, Chunghwa Post has undertaken the task of distributing resources for epidemic prevention and won recognition from all sectors. President Tsai Ing-wen and the Premier Su Tseng-chang in turn offered encouragement and expressed approval in person. As the epidemic ebbs, Chunghwa Post continues to undertake the mission of transporting, distributing, collecting, and cashing triple stimulus vouchers to help "rescue" and "revitalize" the economy. Chunghwa Post has played a role and served various purposes during different periods of time. All colleagues in the company, both enthusiastic and persevering, take pride in being the guardian for the health and welfare of all citizens. The pandemic has induced changes in people's lifestyle and consumption pattern while accelerating the progression of digitization, which in turn expedites adjustments in the industry structure as well as the operation pattern of the enterprise. To keep abreast of international trends as well as modern developments, and to become more competitive, Chunghwa Post continues to optimize digital transformation by making an inventory of all available places for warehousing and mail forwarding to develop a network of "smart 4 Pursue excellence, trusted forever Chairperson Wu, Hong-Mo logistics"; to form cross-industry alliance and expand the ecosphere of "digital finance" by expediting the progress of "Postal Co-branded Visa Debit Card" that will have an increased scope of services and become a handy "everyday card"; and to ensure a comprehensive life and economic security for citizens by designing life insurance products for all age groups and any type of groups. Meanwhile, Chunghwa Post also helps young and small farmers nationwide market agricultural specialties and produce via postal channels for place-making and revitalizing the development of tourism. To create asset value, Chunghwa Post has strategically activated real estate assets by turning post offices into a multi-purpose place for commerce and public welfare with cinemas, gyms, offices, accommodation facilities, and long-term care centers, etc. Moreover, Chunghwa Post has also actively participated in urban renewal and assisted in the development of national innovation, creativity, and finance center for "Taipei City Western District Gateway Project" to boost local economy. To increase operational fitness and improve the efficiency and performance of various businesses and services, Chunghwa Post also takes initiative to cultivate and nurture talent. In addition to recruiting professional talent that meets the needs of business development, there are more on- the-job training opportunities for colleagues to sharpen their skills and develop second expertise, which enriches the talent pool for the Company. Moreover, supervisors are encouraged to be considerate, respectful, empathetic, and caring about the rights and welfare of staff and to create a warm family at the postal company. Lastly, I would love to encourage all of my colleagues to undertake the important mission of following the past and heralding the future with the spirit and mindset of honesty, bravery, simplicity, and perseverance as usual, to adhere to the post and develop neighborly relations with the community, to fulfill corporate social responsibility, and to continue to serve citizens with professionalism, integrity, and efficiency. 2019 Annual Report of Chunghwa Post 5 II Business Report 8 I. 2019 Operation Results 9 II. 2020 Outline of Operation Plan 6

College Students and Credit Card Use in the Twenty-first Century A thesis presented to the faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences of Ohio University In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree Master of Arts Zhong-Wen Li March 2011 © 2011 Zhong-Wen Li. All Rights Reserved. 2 This thesis titled College Students and Credit Card Use in the Twenty-first Century by ZHONG-WEN LI has been approved for the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the College of Arts and Sciences by Deborah Thorne Associate Professor of Sociology Benjamin M. Ogles Dean, College of Arts and Sciences 3 ABSTRACT LI, ZHONG-WEN, M.A., March 2011, Sociology College Students and Credit Card Use in the Twenty-first Century (75 pp.) Director of Thesis: Deborah Thorne The issue of college credit card use has been studied in the United States for decades. This work explores the differences of credit card use between American and Taiwanese college students sampled at Ohio University and National Hsinchu University of Education in Taiwan. Based on sociological theories and Chinese culture, three variables—stigma of debt, fear of financial risks, and distrust of banks—are proposed to explain different credit card use results from culture. The connection between attitudes toward credit cards and five variables, which are credit card ownership, stigma of debt, fear of financial risks, distrust of banks, and parents‘ suggestions about credit card risks, were tested. The findings suggest that cultural factors—stigma of debt, distrust of banks, and fear of financial risks— and structural/institutional factors—credit card law, financial support from family members, and access to credit cards on campus—contribute to American and Taiwanese college students‘ different attitudes toward credit cards.

PostCom News Archives January 2018 National News January 28 Bloomberg: Amazon.com Inc. is expanding a service launched to make more groceries, cleaning supplies and other products available for quick delivery directly from merchants without overwhelming the e-commerce giant’s warehouses with additional inventory, according to documents reviewed by Bloomberg. The trial pushes Amazon’s logistical reach beyond its own facilities and into those of its merchants, encroaching on services of long-time delivery partners United Parcel Service Inc. and FedEx Corp. Amazon is enticing the sellers who use the company’s online marketplace with lower delivery costs, logistics software, warehouse inspections and recommendations. Amazon will oversee pickup of packages from warehouses of third-party merchants selling goods on Amazon.com and the delivery to customers’ homes, work that is now often handled by UPS and FedEx. Amazon could still use these couriers for delivery, but the company will decide how a package is sent instead of leaving it up to the seller. Handling more deliveries itself would give Seattle-based Amazon greater flexibility and control over the last mile to shoppers’ doorsteps, let it save money through volume discounts and help avoid congestion in its warehouses by keeping merchandise in the outside sellers’ own facilities. Amazon is recruiting more sellers and has changed the name to FBA Onsite, according to documents reviewed by Bloomberg, associating the program with its popular logistics service Fulfillment By Amazon that launched in 2006. January 27 PostalNews: Millions of Americans utilize USPS on a daily basis, yet the public desire for a Postal Service that serves the common good is trumped by the financial wealth and political power of relatively few owners of large corporations that utilize the Postal Service for advertising purposes.

  • Lai Jing Chu Retrofitting Le Corbusier's the City of Tomorrow Into the Republic of China In
Anachronistic translations LaiThe materialization Jing of Urbanisme’s (1924) Chinese translation Chu in 1936, Mingri Zhi Chengshi (literally: The City of Tomorrow), may dazzle the reader of Chinese architectural history as both timely and anachronistic—timely, owing to the relatively short time gap between the Chinese version and Frederick Etchells’s English version in 1929, yet anachronistic, since architecture itself was still a novel Retrofittingdiscipline in China. For sure, piecemeal translations of articles and editorials Le Corbusier’s that summated Western ideas filled the pages of disciplinary journals such as Zhongguo Jianzhu (Chinese Architecture) and Jianzhu Yuekan (Architectural Monthly) as architects and building practitioners fervently explored how “advanced technological knowledge” from the West and “the Chinese essence” could be amalgamated. That said, an actual cover-to-cover book translation of Thethe architectural/urban City design genre was still wanting owingof to the large amountTomorrow into of capital investment, labor, and effort that such an endeavor would entail. Treating translation as a type of media in itself, this paper borrows architectural historian Esra Ackan’s dynamic interpretation of the term, which “includes any act of changing from one place, position, condition, medium, or language”1 through thethe movement Republic of people, capital, ideas, technologies, information and images .2 of China in 1936 Homing in on the book as a cultural artifact, a deep observation of the The City of 104 Tomorrow’s physical, material, and textual properties centers this investigation. By interrogating the book both as a designed object and a vessel for pioneering ideas, and setting these observations against the political, cultural, technological and urban-spatial context of China’s 1930s, this paper seeks to unravel the func- tion and agenda of the translated book situated in its specific epoch.
