Oem Origin Build the Build Idea Build Levels Conclusion OEM ORIGIN BUILD We have found in previous experience that people can find it a daunting prospect commissioning a custom motorcycle, it really shouldn’t be. When organised and coordinated properly we feel you should enjoy the designing and conceptual stages of the bike being built as much as riding it. It is a very intricate job requiring experience in a broad spectrum of skill set which we have honed at the OEM House Of Assembley. We have put together this Origin build sheet for all those quizzical about a possible one off custom motorcycle build. And remember no money has to be laid down and no dates are set in stone until the design is signed off. Step 1 Send us over as much or as little as you like using the 4 point build idea sheet. Step 2 We will then draw up some simple concepts using the information provided Step 3 If you like what you see we can fully render the drawings and with a small commitment fee you will receive a printed copy of the proposed build and all the artwork with it. Step 4 Once everybody is happy we come up with a suitable payment scheme and once the deposit is laid down the build can begin! THE BUILD IDEA Style Find motorcycle images that the style, lines, riding position etc appeals to you. Gather as many photo/ drawings/images of motorcycles that you like the look of as a complete bike. Include any imagery that you feel you want to include or take inspiration from which we can use to integrate within the design e.g a film watched or picture seen that inspires you. DetailS Find pictures of motorcycles with certain parts or components that you like e.g a particular set of wheels or a particular fuel tank etc. Potential Donor MotorcycleS Keeping the style of motorcycle in mind, look at candidates based on how old you want the motor to look, how reliable it needs to be, the maintainability of it and the usability of it, how attainable it is. Usually we can help you with this once the first 2 steps have been taken and we have a rough idea on budget. BuDget An important part of what can be achieved with what parts are used, what donor motorcycle is bought and how much labour time is available. Nearly any style can be achieved with any donor motorcycle but some are easier to modify than others and it comes down to the level of modification that is required to reach a suitable end result BUILD LEVELS We can cater for most budgets and we find it very difficult to quote accurately without the above steps being taken. However to give you an idea of the costs we have a 4 level system as follows: level 1 level 2 £4000 - £8000 £8000 - £12000 Example is OEM Fox build Example is OEM Pup build level 3 level 4 £12000 - £15000 £15000 + Example is OEM EFI build Example is OEM Typhoon build CONCLUSION Remember that an OEM Origin build is a complete one off. Where countless hours are poured into each build regardless of the style and base motorcycle. We have found that it is important that each and every build that leaves the OEM House of Assembly is a true Old Empire Motorcycle and this is why we take so much time considering each build and whether they are suitable to be part of this very special breed of OEM motorcycles. STYLES When beginning to design a bike its important to keep in mind certain styling aspects and its true that much like an artist each builder has his own style in which most circumstances their bikes can be told apart from others. Although we believe we have our own style that we prefer to build bikes to, its not something we believe is new or innovative regarding the fundamentals of the styling but a careful blending of current and past styles already done but in a suitably different way to achieve a look that is completely distinguishable from anything else. We thought that it may be helpful to list most of the current styles of motorcycles available that we mix and match from so that you can get a better idea on what you really want within a build. Improving SafetyImproving and forScooter Moped Motorcycle, Riders Improving Safety for Motorcycle, Scooter and Moped Riders The global fleet of powered two-wheelers (PTWs) is constantly increasing. In many countries, motorcycles, scooters and mopeds play a significant role in mobility, particularly in many of the world’s large cities. As such, PTWs are becoming an important component of the transport system. However, they represent an important challenge for road safety. PTW riders are at far more risk than car drivers per kilometre ridden in terms of fatalities and severe injuries entailing long-term disability. Moreover, they have not benefited from safety improvements at the same pace as car occupants over recent decades. Addressing the issue of PTW safety is thus an essential contribution to the success of the United Nations’ Decade of Action for Road Safety, which aims at halving the expected number of road deaths worldwide by 2020. This report reviews recent trends in powered two-wheeler crashes, the factors contributing to these crashes and their severity. It describes a set of countermeasures targeting user behaviours, the use of protective equipment, the vehicles and the infrastructure. Finally, it discusses motorcycle safety strategies in the context of a safe system. ©Zachary Thomas Kinkade ©Art Brand Studios Get Your Kicks on Route 66 Title Get Your Kicks on Route 66 | Image Sizes 16"x 20", 24"x 30" | Publish Date April 2016 There is probably nothing more iconic in relation to American vacation plans than the idea of a “road trip”. And there is probably nothing more spiritually tied to that sojourner’s dream than Route 66, the “Main Street of America”. Indeed, the beauty of this country and the fun of its people are both to be found along this fabled ribbon of asphalt in addition to some “crazy by-way kitsch” that is the source of both memories and amusement. Join me as I begin this journey and travel this 2,500 mile thoroughfare from Chicago to Santa Monica stopping at many places along the way. In this first piece I pay tribute to the motorcyclist and their modern day iron horses. Look closely in the painting and you might recognize one of film’s earliest two-wheeled rebels as well as a notorious easy rider. I have also placed references to some of the most noted makes of motorcycle for you to discover as you explore my canvas. My grandfather loved the lure of the open road, a feeling that was translated to my father and uncle and now to me and my own brothers. The joy of the ride is often as satisfying as the destination and so it is in this case. There will be several stops on this trip and further tributes to be paid.

Motorcycles registered in the United States, 2002–18 January 2019 Eric R. Teoh Insurance Institute for Highway Safety The following tables summarize the U.S. motorcycle population between 2002 and 2018, based on Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) analyses of data provided by IHS Markit. Registration counts as of January 1 of each year were provided by year, state, and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) pattern (first 10 digits). The Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) decoded VIN patterns to determine make, series, and model year, and information maintained by HLDI on motorcycle type and antilock braking system (ABS) availability were appended to each record by make/series/model year. Only on- road classes of motorcycles were included. Since the VIN information is constantly improving, the counts in this paper may differ slightly from the previous version. Selected observations • The number of on-road motorcycles registered in the U.S. has been generally increasing throughout these years, doubling from 4.2 million in 2002 to 8.3 million in 2018 (Table 1). Registrations declined from 2017 to 2018 to slightly below the 2015 number. • California and Florida have the largest number of registered motorcycles by large margins. • Cruisers and touring bikes are the largest classes of registered motorcycles (Table 2). • Choppers are a relatively new class designation from manufacturers. This class probably is undercounted, as similar motorcycles are custom builds and not identifiable from VIN numbers. • Scooter registrations have been increasing but also may be undercounted, as many have engines smaller than 50 cubic centimeters (cc) and state laws (including registration requirements) vary widely for vehicles with such small engines.

The IT still has a good, usable powerband, but suddenly it's giving away 2?cc's to the KDX. In an Open class bike 27cc's may not make much difference, but on a 175 it's a whole new world. For the most part the IT will run right with the KDX through the rocks and trees, but if a hill comes up, the KDX will disappear while the IT rider is still searching for the right gear. This is not bad-175 riders will always have to work Even though the PE is much melloweL The lTl75 is still one of the most liked it's still possible to leap it out of a harder than folks on bigger bikes-but bikes by our fesfa/s. Changing the gear ratios did much to help spread out the power on the Suzuki but it also turn- ed the bike into a slow-revving cruiser in comparison with the other two. Cracking the throttle open will result in a very pre- dictable buildup in speed right up to red- line. Good power all the way through the range, but nothing exciting, and no burst of power to get you out of trouble if you need iL Which puts the XR200 down at the bottom.

  • The 2007 Iron Butt Rally Day -2 Saturday, August 18, 2007
The 2007 Iron Butt Rally Day -2 Saturday, August 18, 2007 Today was the primary day for tech inspection and rider check-in for the 13th running of the Iron Butt Rally. The parking lot of the Doubletree Hotel in Chesterfield, Missouri is filled with motorcycles that are anything but a representative cross section of the motorcycles purchased by the general public. Cruisers and sport bikes dominate the U.S. motorcycle market. But cruisers are about style and sport bikes are about speed. The Iron Butt Rally is about efficiently riding long distances. There have been some exceptional long distance rides done on cruisers and sport bikes, but they are just not the optimum type of motorcycle for this event. With the exception of Brett Donahue's extensively modified Harley-Davidson Sportster and Alan Bennett s 250 cc Kawasaki Ninja, everyone is riding a motorcycle in the "touring," "sport-touring," or "dual sport" category. Among the touring bikes, the most popular models are Honda Gold Wings and BMW K1200LTs. In the sport-touring category, the most popular models are the Yamaha FJR1300, the BMW R1200RT and R1150RT, the BMW K1200GT, and the Honda ST1300 and ST1100. The most popular Dual-Sport models are the BMW R1200GS and R1150GS, the Suzuki DL1000 and DL650 (aka the V-Strom and the Wee-Strom). Of the 97 motorcycles entered, there are 42 BMWs, 27 Hondas, 14 Yamahas, 5 Suzukis, 3 Kawasakis, 3 Harley-Davidsons, 1 Buell, 1 Triumph, and 1 Victory. The oldest is the 1972 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide ridden by Mark Collins.

  • The New Harley ... Ready to Rumble!
The New Harley ... Ready to Rumble! Harley redefined the motorcycle industry as it roared through the past two decades with impressive growth. Now, with aging boomers and a mercurial stock market, what’s the best marketing and media strategy to keep the New Harley roaring through 2020? We live to ride, and we ride to eat Wearing black leather and riding huge Harleys, a motorcycle gang thunders through northern Georgia as if en route to a rumble. But the only rumble for this gang--the Atlanta Harley Owners Group (HOG)--is the one in their stomachs. It’s another Sunday ride in the country for the group, and as usual it ends with a feast. “We live to ride, and we ride to eat,” says club assistant director B.K. Ellis, a systems analyst. Although educated professionals dominate the Hog world, there are still a number of would be hard-core guys with big tattoos and bad tempers, the sort who once typified the Harley customer. Most customers, however, would be playing hooky from $78,000-a-year jobs (the average salary of today’s Harley customer), riding $16,000 motorcycles (the typical cost of Harley’s biggest bike, a cruiser), and pledging fealty to an open-road cult that doubles as a $4-billion-a-year company. Owning A Hog is a Lifestyle Harley today has more to do with fraternity than with machinery. You buy a Harley, you join a ready-made motorcycle gang: the 600 U.S. HOG chapters, operated under the dealers’ aegis. Style is as important as speed.
