Leitch took 30,602 of the 97,145 votes cast, and MacEachern took 25,308. Federal NDP candidate David Matthews came in third, with 6,332 votes and Green Party candidate JoAnne Fleming took 2,923. MacEachern, who took 7 weeks away from his job as president of Focus to run his campaign, says he has learned a lot from this experience and has made lasting friendships. He plans to continuing serving the riding of Simcoe–Grey in other ways going forward. MacEachern is pictured here with a poster of Prime Minister elect, Mr. Justin Trudeau, Liberal, at the Nottawasaga Inn after learning the election results. For more election coverage, see PAGE 3.
