REFEREE: IAN ROBERTS LINESMEN: MARK HOSKING & PAUL KEMPEN

CHAIRMAN’S WELCOME: Tim Richardson …..CLUB MERCHANDISE….. Hello to everyone from Bodmin Town and to our local supporters and friends. At the time of writing, there’s a threat of even more rain, probably calling for a Treat yourself or your nearest and dearest…. pitch inspection – so, if you’re reading this, at the fifth attempt to play the tie, and help the club at the same time! either the rain didn’t happen, or it did but made no difference!

Bodmin Town come with a superb pedigree and an awesome reputation - top New-style club scarf, green/white, with club name & badge: of the League, scoring goals and taking all the Cup competitions seriously. £5 They are the highest-ranked club we could possibly play in any one season, so today’s the chance to see how we match up. Club scarf, green/white, plain: Who would have thought that this season would bring four games against £3 Premier Division teams? We’ve seen off Newquay and Tavistock in the League Cup, today it’s Bodmin in the Senior Cup, and a fourth game when the draw is Scarf for your dog (as per photos): made for the League Cup Quarter Finals. And if we win today there’ll be a fifth £3 at revenge-seeking Newquay next Tuesday.

In the less newsworthy but more important league programme, we beat Club mugs: Porthleven in our last match. It was the only game played in our Division, credit £4 again to groundsman Mike Prisk. We had a large crowd (117), so many thanks

also to everyone for a great turn-out. Window stickers with club badge, for your house or car: We now sit deceptively a long way out at the top. I say ‘deceptively’, because £1 several clubs have games in hand. But they’ve got to win those games to start catching up – and some of them are against us and some against each other! Items to order: People have described today’s match as the biggest in the club’s history. Knowing Quinny, he’ll just accept the challenge, tell the players to make the Coats, black, quilt-lined, with club badge & your initials: most of the opportunity, and play the usual way…..and your support will make £65 a lot of difference, whichever way the game goes.

Please do have a look at the ‘Fixtures’ page – it shows quite a few changes as a Polo shirts, white, with club badge: result of recent postponements. £16

Also do read the page called ‘Talking Point: Promotion’, which explains the club’s thinking on the pros and cons of applying for promotion. To make a purchase, place an order or find out more – Cheers, Tim please ask at the clubhouse bar

CHATTER WITH CHEESY THE CORNWALL SENIOR CUP

The thoughts of Assistant Manager Mark Vercesi sponsored by

Good afternoon! A warm welcome to all the players, officials, and supporters of Bodmin Town Football Club, and also everybody here supporting The Seagulls.

HOW TODAY’S TEAMS GOT TO THIS STAGE I'm especially looking forward to seeing one of the best and loveliest club ladies around in Sheila Chapman. Sheila looked after me when I was a youngster (yes I was First Round: one once!) signing for Bodmin, and helped make my stay there very enjoyable. We St Dennis 1-2 MOUSEHOLE (after extra time) are blessed here at Mousehole too, with what I consider as the best group of behind BODMIN TOWN 4-0 Falmouth Town the scenes guys and girls that I have had the pleasure to be around. Keep up the good Second Round: work, and Tim...keep delegating! Morwenstow 0-6 MOUSEHOLE Sticker 0-2 BODMIN TOWN I'm also looking forward to seeing my old St Blazey assistant manager, Terry Huddy - a Third Round: great servant to the Cornish game, which included being a part of the County Youth MOUSEHOLE v BODMIN TOWN and County Seniors coaching teams that I was privileged enough to play in. All other Third Round matches have been completed

This is where more "old" jibes come into play: injuries take longer to clear up the older you are...I'm finding this out the hard way! However, physio and strengthening QUARTER FINALS work has been going well and so I hope to be back playing today, if selected, and looking forward to testing my legs against some of the best midfielders around. Bude Town v Helston Athletic (today) Godolphin Atlantic 2-0 Saltash United rd Bodmin have been the benchmark for all Peninsula league clubs over the past decade, Newquay v MOUSEHOLE/BODMIN TOWN (Tuesday 23 Feb 7:30) and so to test ourselves against the best is a massive day, not only for this current St Austell 3-1 Penryn Athletic team, but for our whole club and its history. When the draw was made there were great roars and cheers on the team bus returning from Morwenstow. I’d decided not to SEMI FINALS: st nd go back on the bus after the terrifying drive up by Richard (!) but I was on the phone Tuesday & Wednesday 1 and 2 March straight away to Quinny and could hear how excited the boys were! With postponements and Bodmin's good FA Vase run, we’ve been waiting for this game for a FINAL: th long time: let's hope we don't disappoint! Easter Monday 28 March

Have a great day! LAST SEASON’S WINNERS: St Austell Cheesy

TODAY’S OTHER FIXTURES INVOLVING SWP THE PORTHLEVEN GAME

Mousehole 7-0 Porthleven: Saturday 30th January: SWP League, Division 1 West LEAGUE DIVISION 1 WEST TEAMS

With all other West Division games called off on Friday or Saturday morning, it says a LEAGUE FIXTURES lot about the care, maintenance and condition of the Trungle Parc pitch that referee Mark Hosking took just a couple of minutes at 10 o’clock to declare the Porthleven (all 3:00 kick off) match ‘ON’ that afternoon.

Dobwalls v Porthleven A dry, bright, breezy, cool afternoon - well, flippin’ cold (or words to that effect) according to many of those huddlin’-an’-shiverin’ in the ground. Penryn Athletic v Liskeard Athletic Porthleven, their training tops bearing the signature of a famous TV chef and Penzance v Wendron United restaurateur (other eateries are available), fielded a youthful side including a lad Plymstock v United St Dennis who’s officially 16, but looked even younger. Mousehole, top of the league, would potentially go 11 points clear, with no rivals playing. We’d already beaten them twice Sticker v Plymouth Argyle 5-2 away in the League and Charity Cup, but would the sticky pitch upset our playing style this time? Yes - but only for three minutes. Vospers Oak Villa v Illogan RBL Lewis Caspell with the first, another destructive left foot drive. Later, a Steve Burt Wadebridge v Town Millbrook burst, too sharp and quick for their big defender: penalty! Bradley Wills, low, 2-0. So far, scant reward for the first half control, until close to half-time when Burtie again breached his midfield curfew and stroked in a left-footer – his third goal this season, and all with the foot he’s only supposed to stand on.

CORNWALL SENIOR CUP QUARTER FINAL In the second half, relentless pressure both on and off the ball, and four second half (2:00 pm) goals. Lewis scored a smart 20-yard lob (yes, with that foot). Bradley went on to another hat-trick to overtake the still-injured Mark Vercesi at the top of the SWP-1W Bude Town v Helston Athletic ‘Golden Boot’ table. And Wade Brown came on after his own couple of months out injured, to score a goal looking suspiciously like the one he last scored in the League Cup victory against Newquay in October.

Porthleven’s local paper started their report: “Port were outgunned by an outstanding Mousehole team who strengthened their Division 1 West title claims with another devastating attacking display at Trungle Parc on Saturday” (acknowledgements to The Packet). Enough said!
