Love, the leading theme of the 60 th edition of the Puccini Festival An extraordinary billboard, four new productions among the most loved of Puccini’s Operas by audiences around the world. Madama Butterfly , La Bohème , Turandot and Il Trittico* (* Il Tabarro, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi) 19 magical evenings together with some of the greatest stars of opera that give voice to Puccini’s passionate heroines. The Great Outdoor Theater with the picturesque backdrop of Lake Massaciuccoli, a natural setting for the Puccini opera sets, just a few steps away from the Villa Mausoleum where Giacomo Puccini lived, composed and where, now, in a small room transformed into a chapel, his remains are preserved. Happy Birthday - Madama Butterfly (25 July - 1, 8, 16 and 24 August) Madama Butterfly’s debut, 110 years ago, will be celebrated with a new scenography that carries the signature of a great protagonist in the history of Italian opera: Renzo Giacchieri to whom sets, costumes and the direction of the opera is entrusted. On the podium, in his debut at Torre del Lago, Jose Miguel Perez Sierra the young Spanish director one of the most interesting of his generation. The role of Puccini's heroine will be alternated by three great interpreters: Micaela Carosi , Amarilli Nizza and Silvana Froli . Pinkerton, a young man with a great career, making his debut in the role, is the brilliant tenor Lahaj Istog born in Istog (Kosovo), while Sharpless is interpreted by Giovanni Meoni and Suzuki by Renata Lamanda . Opera in Cinema. La Bohéme (26 July - 2, 10, 15 and 22 August) La Bohème will be directed by one of Italy’s greatest film directors: Ettore Scola who celebrates, in the 60 th edition of the Puccini Festival, his 50 years of glorious career. A signature of Ettore Scola for a new and different interpretation of Puccini's masterpiece La Bohème, by far the most the most represented opera title in the world. With Ettore Scola, the scenes of his friend and collaborator Luciano Ricceri and the costumes by Cristina Da Rold. On the podium "Puccini Festival’s wand" Valerio Galli the appreciated and refined interpreter of Puccini's masterpieces that saw his debut in Torre del Lago. Bohème with an exceptional cast that will see the incomparable voice of Daniela Dessi in the role of Mimi, Fabio Armiliato in the role of Rodolfo, Alessandro Luongo as Marcello and Alida Berti as Musetta. Puccini 2.0 - Il Trittico (3, 7, 21 and 30 August) The Puccini Festival has always dedicated great attention to young artists who have the opportunity to prepare and present themselves in a Festival that draws audiences from all over the world. In this context, the staging of Puccini’s Il Trittico , three one-act operas Il Tabarro , Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi returns to the Festival after 40 years in its full form. The Puccini Festival Foundation has finalized the Academy of Advanced Studies for Puccini voices in 2014 in addition to the competition for the Award for Direction, Sets and Costumes . The young people who will be selected by the Academy will have the opportunity to live a great experience alongside great artists like Amarilli Nizza in all three female roles, Alberto Mastromarino in the role of Michele and Il Grande and, the priceless Rolando Panerai in the role of Gianni Schicchi. The opera will be staged the theatre’s Auditorium Enrico Caruso. On the podium to direct the three titles maestro Bruno Nicoli also a professor of the Academy. L’incompiuta Turandot (9, 14, 17, 23 and 29 August) The entire Festival programme is dedicated to Puccini’s music, which will see five representations of Turandot in just the month of August. The title is set to become a constant proposal of the Festival in Torre del Lago, a must for audiences from all around the world for the unique emotion of listening to the famous aria Nessun Dorma under the starry sky of the Puccini Festival. For the 60th edition, Direction, Sets and Costumes are entrusted to an eclectic artist, who has grown up professionally in Torre del Lago, Angelo Bertini , in his directorial debut. Conduction is entrusted to a director of secure experience, former Artistic Director of the Puccini Festival, Marco Balderi . In the role of the Princess of Frost two extraordinary performers, the great Giovanna Casolla and the talented Lise Lindstrom . In the role of Calaf the intense and dramatic tenor Jorge de Leon while Serena Farnocchia will interpret Liu. .
