Program Dates: July 6-August 7, 2015 Faculty Leader: William Quinn [email protected] Estimated Costs: $3,500 MEDIEVALMEDIEVAL + Airfare (est. $1,600) ENGLANDENGLAND + U of A Tuition Courses Offered: (6 credit hours) University of Arkansas ENGL 3713 ENGL3903/ ENGL 3923H HIST 3983/ HIST 3923H HUMN 3923H or MRST 3013(H) Prices and dates to be confirmed by February 2015 SUMMER 2015 Overview: This program will provide an introduction to English history and culture from the arrival of Hengest and Horsa to the Battle of Bosworth Field. It will include consideration of the Anglo-Saxon, Anglo-Norman and Middle English periods. Readings (all in modern English) will be complemented by a series of interdisciplinary lectures and site visits. Classes will initially be conducted Monday-Thursday at Durham University; there will be two two-hour meetings per day. The morning sessions will be interdisciplinary lectures. Most of the afternoon sessions will be less formal discussions of the assigned readings; some sessions will be dedicated to preparation for site visits and movies.
