For Immediate Release: (31/05/16) “Ampthill Sign Rob Bell & Josh Walker For 2016-17 In National 1” Ampthill, Beds - DoR Mark Lavery is delighted to confirm that Rob Bell () and Josh Walker (Bury St. Edmunds) have joined the National 1 squad for 2016-17.

Openside forward Rob (26), was born in South Shields and joins from Henley Hawks. A Leicester Tigers academy graduate where he made one appearance in the Premiership. He played for Birmingham & Solihull, Coventry and London Welsh in the Championship, EDF National Trophy & the British & Irish Cup for a total of 39 appearances. In National 1 for Henley & Blaydon he has accumulated 101 appearances scoring 43 tries. A Pilot Officer in the RAF, for whom he has multiple caps at XVs & 7s as well as for the Combined Services.

Lock Josh Walker (22, 1.96m, 110kg), was born in Milton Keynes and joins from Bury St. Edmunds where he came through the Mini & Youth system before captaining their 1stXV in National 2 last season. While a student at UWIC in Cardiff he was an integral member of their successful BUSA team and also made 21 appearances for Bedwas in the Principality Championship. Capped for Students he also played for Bay Of Plenty U20s while in New Zealand. Head Coach Paul Turner comments “Rob is a proven tough and uncompromising openside forward who will add to the mix at Ampthill. Josh is a lock/blindside forward who captained England Students and Bury St. Edmunds in National 2. We are delighted to welcome Rob & Josh to Ampthill Rugby Club.” Ampthill RUFC, a Bedfordshire based community rugby club with more than 500 members regularly fields more than 16 teams each week during the season drawn from its senior, youth (U19), junior (U12-U17), mini (U6- U11) and female squads.
