It is esmated that 1 in 4 people in the UK will e perience a mental health problem each year and 1 in 6 people in the past week e perienced a common mental problem## That%s just over 2 players in your team# )et, your teammates facing these challenges can face sgmasaon and discriminaon leading to a reluctance to reach out for mely support. The Cauli,ower Ear is a rugby club.based campaign, created funded by /ancashire County 01U, aimed at increasing awareness of mental health emoonal wellbeing issues within clubs and providing support as needed. 2espoke artwork posters displayed prominently in clubs will provide a focal point to raise consciousness and provoke posive conversaons around mental health emoonal wellbeing. The artwork will be changed throughout the season to maintain a freshness and connue the conversaon. It carries the contact details for professional support with counsellors put in place funded by /ancashire County 01U to support the members of its constuent clubs. You will probably know that Coventry have been here during the National 1 campaign but last year they played in the Green King IPA Championship finishing in 8th position. Coventry is not too far from Ampthill, so we hope to see a good following making the trip down to add to what is bound to be a great atmosphere. I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome the Mayor of Ampthill, Mr Ian Titman, the Lady Mayoress, Ms Maggie Fuller and the Mayor’s honourable guests to our club lunch. I hope you enjoy the day. Our last fixture against the visitors was at the Butts Park Arena where we were given a bit of a rugby lesson. The final score was 64-26 with the home side throwing the ball around and attacking from all over the park. Let us hope our defence holds firm today during the league encounter. Coventry currently lie in a very creditable 3rd place in the league, having won four matches and drawn one (two points behind Cornish Pirates in the 2nd spot).

    Edition 10: 20th September 2013 Rugby World Cup 2015 Lead Up and Legacy Activity The RFU launched the seven strands of its national Lead up and Legacy plan on October 31st 2012. The aim of this is to set out an overall framework against which national resource will be invested in the lead up to RWC 2015 with the aim of increasing interest and participation in the game. Whilst many Clubs, CBs, Schools, Colleges, Universities and other bodies are working hard to develop local projects to meet identified local need these seven strands are areas in which we will invest national resource to create change in Rugby communities across the country. It is hoped that those delivery bodies that have not yet identified their focus will focus in on these areas and take action to improve provision and opportunities against these themes. Six Regional Activation and Legacy Groups are now up and running and are working to add value to the seven strands and to engage partners from outside of the immediate rugby community in supporting the efforts of those within it. Each group is populated by representatives from CBs and from the wider community. Attached as an appendix to this CB update is a brief overview of progress against the seven strands along with listings of clubs/projects etc involved to date – this will be updated for each issue. In addition to the work against the seven strands strong working relationships have been established with England Rugby 2015, the Organising Body for the tournament itself, and an update on relevant areas are also included in the appendix.

Last season the ONs were victorious both home & away against our visitors, but recent results would suggest the ONs will have to play up to their strengths to maintain or improve on their current 5th place slot. West Bridgford are currently lying just one place below & with a game in hand so it’s definitely game on! Having had a few issues recently against large (Leicester) packs I’m sure the 1st team coaching team & squad will be working hard during the week to improve this area of the game in order to release a back line that can match any in the league. Today’s referee is Gareth Langley, Central Federation, let’s hope he encourages a more flowing game than last week at Wyggs! We also welcome Nuneaton U18s to Billing Road for a friendly against the ONs Academy. I had the good fortune to watch our U18s in the National Cup last week against Syston - one of Leicestershire’s finest - the 49:5 demolition shows what strength we have coming through & I am sure they will go far in the competition as it enters the National stages. Great work from the Academy coaching team bringing on our next crop of Old Northamptonians into the senior set up.

    The Mini & Youth Rugby Blueprint Roadshow October – December 2013 Feedback Report Summary The Mini & Youth Rugby Blueprint Roadshow took place between October and December 2013. The roadshow visited 27 venues around the country and was attended by more than 500 people. The purpose of the roadshow was to give all rugby stakeholders a chance to share their views on how we shape the mini, junior and youth game in the lead up to Rugby World Cup 2015. In recent years a great deal of work has gone into considering how the game is played, delivered and organised for young people up to the age of 18. The Age Grade Competition Review has been in process for a couple of years, working on producing a recommended competition and playing framework across clubs, schools and colleges. The aim of the blueprint roadshow was to share recent evidence from players highlighting why they play and why they might have stopped playing and to research the views of stakeholders on the best way forward for the game. The challenge is to provide a game format, playing opportunities and support based on the needs and wants of young people. By getting this balance right we aim to ensure that more young people start, remain and choose a lifelong friendship with rugby union, strengthening our clubs and growing the game in the communities around them. Roadshow Format and Method At each roadshow event, the audience was given an opportunity to consider feedback from players aged 7 – 18 about why they play rugby union (and sport in general) and the reasons why they stop playing.

    PGRFC response to the RFU New Competition proposals Executive Summary • The proposed RFU structure addresses many issues, but too much regionalisation risks losing competitive matches and less matches, if Saturday loses the ‘this is the day I play rugby’ tag, risks player retention and would adversely impact on income and hence sustainability. • We suggest an alternative flatter structure with less geographical sub-division and leagues of 14 teams – we believe confining our opposition to Northern counties is appropriate. It meets player concerns on number of matches and travel time, would reduce our cost base whilst maintaining attractive fixtures to support club sustainability. It provides a guaranteed number of 1st XV home games sufficiently early to support planning of adequate match day income generating opportunities and provides a profile that would appeal to a range of club sponsors and ideally a title sponsor for the league. • If this is not feasible, the adoption of the RFU proposed structure is workable although reduced games at level 5 poses a threat to player retention and commercial sustainability. It would be considerably enhanced by the introduction of well policed, mandatory salary cap levels with clear severe sanctions for non-compliance and the adoption of an end of season play-off and League cup competition. • Wage inflation in the community game must be brought under control. If there is no change to the salary cap structure, and clubs are still allowed to opt out of the system it is difficult to see the current wage-inflation issues being managed with the resulting adverse impact on sustainability.

In the last 12 years, Ampthill & District Rugby Club 1st XV have gone from RFU League Midlands 3 East (Level 7) playing the likes of Boys Brigade Old Boys and Leighton Buzzard and last year winning National 1 (Level 3) in the RFU pyramid and by becoming Champions we now participate in the Greene King IPA Championship for the 2019-2020 season playing the likes of Newcastle Falcons, Bedford Blues, Cornish Pirates etc. The Greene King IPA Championship will have 10 live games being covered by Sky Sports next season which potentially could lead to the Club having two televised games during the course of the season. Ampthill & District Rugby Club is not a professional only Rugby Club, like most other Rugby Clubs in the Greene King IPA Championship, Ampthill is a community Rugby Club that runs 7 senior teams, 2 Academy sides, 3 girls sides and for the first time in our history, the coming season will see our first Ladies senior side. The Mini & Youth start from U6’s to U16’s giving a total player base of approximately 1100 and one of the most successful and inclusive sporting organisations in the East Midlands. The 16 th March 2011 Executive approved in principle a proposal to establish an “Eastlands Development Partnership” with Manchester City Football Club and its associated land holding and development companies to drive forward the comprehensive development of the now renamed Etihad Campus and its surrounding area. This report now sets out detailed proposals to the Executive to establish the various bodies that together make up the “Eastlands Development Partnership”. Recommendations The Executive is recommended to: 1. Approve the Eastlands Community Plan, that is appended to this Report; 2.
