Resolution # 001-2019

Whereas: • The residents of all seven Kivalliq Hamlets are reliant on air travel to southern Canada to receive proper medical attention for most health related issues • Most Kivalliq residents are not familiar with southern community lifestyles, southern diets nor communicating only in English

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The Kivalliq Mayors support immediate action being taken to ensure that there is adequately trained staff and equipment available at the HospitallHealth Centre to provide health care for various low risk patients from all communities in the Kivalliq

Resolution # 002-2019

Whereas: • The community of has identified the need of a small craft harbour as a community priority • The topography of Chesterfield Inlet does not make ideal docking for small craft boats

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The Mayors of the support the Hamlet of Chesterfield Inlet's request to have a small craft harbour designed and constructed as soon as possible

AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

All necessary funds for the design and constmction of a small craft harbour in Chesterfield Inlet be allocated immediately

Resolution # 003-2019

Whereas: • The residents of Chesterfield Inlet have been negatively impacted by large ships mooring in the inlet • And the large moored ships are utilized as marshalling areas for freight intended to be shipped to Baker Lake • And the stationary ships used as the marshalling area in the inlet have a negative impact on wildlife activity in the area • And the Ilamlet of Chesterfield Inlet has been proposing the construction of a deep sea port in the Hamlet of Chesterfield Inlet

NOW THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The Mayors of the Kivalliq Region support the design and construction of a deep sea port in Chesterfield Inlet to provide a marshalling area that will eliminate the need of having ships moored in the inlet and being utilized as marshalling areas

AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The Mayors ofthe Kivalliq Region support funding be allocated for this proposal from all levels of Government and the private sector

Resolution # 004-2019 • Search and Rescue Funding

Whereas: • The Kivalliq Communities are tasked with the responsibility of dealing with Search and Rescue • As the Hamlets receive no funding for Search and Rescue operations • Some communities raise funds for Search and Rescue and use these funds for searches; these funds are refundable however; it takes a significant period of time to receive this reimbursement

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The Mayors of the Kivalliq Region support the idea of adding to the core funding of the Hamlets who are responsible for Search and Rescue Operations or to the Search and Rescue Society in the form of a Contribution Agreement on an annual basis.

• Elders Facility / Palliative Care

Whereas: • Residents of the Kivalliq Region have a moral duty to the care and protection of our Elders; and • That Elders are better off in their home communities or their home Region

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED THAT:

The Kivalliq Mayors support immediate action on the construction of an Elders Care Facility in Rankin Inlet so we may support our elders with dignity surrounded by family and friends.

Resolution # 006-2019

Whereas: • The Kivaliq Mayor's understand the complex nature of establishing a governance structure for the Hudsons Bay regional Roundtable; and • The Kivalliq Mayor's would like to focus on specific issues of interest to the Kivalliq Region, in particularly a road, powerline, and fibre optic service from Manitoba to Kivalliq; and • The Kivalliq Mayor's want to establish clear timelines for a lobbying strategy going forward as well as realistic expectations for the establishment of such infrastructure linkages; and • The Kivalliq Mayors have 'identified the need for an administrative stmcture to ensure that future meetings are organized, accurate and successful.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The Kivalliq Mayors aftirm their continued support for the Regional Roundtable with the understanding that the focus must be on the three pillars ( road, fibre and power) between our two jurisdictions; and

FURTHER BE IS RESOVLED THAT:

The Mayors of the Kivalliq Region support adequate funding be allocated to provide a Secretariat to ensure that the meetings are recorded and filed for future and reporting purposes.
