The Colombian took advantage of her opponent’s absence from the outdoor season, winning every competition she participated in, including the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, the Diamond League and the IAAF Continental Cup. The Pan-American Sports organization (Panam Sports) recently confirmed that the two jumpers will participate at the 2019 Pan-American Games, where the Antioquia idol will try to defend her titles from 2011 and 2015. Needless to say, this will be the main attraction of the track and field competitions during the continental games, although other top level athletes are expected to amaze as well. The competition, set for the beginning of August at the Villa Deportiva National Stadium in the Peruvian capital, will be the prelude to the main event of the year: The Doha World Championships, taking place between the end of September and the beginning of October. The highly anticipated Diamond League where Ibargüen has won six consecutive medals will take place in between those competitions. However, it is still early to talk about final results and celebrations, as there is a long and taxing road ahead.
