Constable, last year you were quite optimistic about the So everything in the garden is rosy, is it? fact that the Council of Ministers had made St Helier one of SC I wouldn't put it quite like that. For one thing, at the time of their four strategic priorities. Are you still optimistic after a this interview we have the decision over the site of the new year of the new government? General Hospital hanging over us. SC Yes, I am. The States' commitment to improving St Helier expressed itself very quickly in practical ways, such as saying Where would you like it to go, as Parish Constable? 'Yes' instead of 'No' to small, practical steps we have been trying SC Overdale strikes me as the best place with its proximity to to make for years. Removing unnecessary bollards in town and elevated position which would give great views to Colomberie, for example, or allowing the Blue Note pub in patients. Clearly there would be challenges to sort out adequate Broad Street, the opportunity to create additional al fresco - access including parking and a shuttle bus to and from the town without losing any of the disabled parking spaces, mind you! centre.
