Afghanistan Logistics Working Group Meeting Minutes LOCATION: Remote meeting DATE: 27 July 2021 CHAIR: WFP and PU-AMI ACTION POINTS • The Logistics Working Group (LWG) to share the updated status of border situation. Weekly update will be shared during the week of 1st August 2021. • LWG to share the updates of Logistics Capacity Assessment. • New invite will be sent out. UNHAS updates UNHAS • A representative from UNHAS provided an update on the latest UNHAS activities. • Weekly flights schedules and information are available on Aviation | HumanitarianResponse • In addition to the regular aviation services provided, UNHAS provides the movement of humanitarian cargo via the regular scheduled flights. If cargo is significant, a charter flight can be organized. • For any further information or requests, partners can reach out to the UNHAS focal points: [email protected] and [email protected]. Access issues and Border Status Update Access • A representative from the Humanitarian Access Group (HAG) led by OCHA joined the meeting to provide update on the access related issues. • If partners have concerns in relation to access, please contact a HAG focal point, Nadja Patrizia Leuenberger ([email protected]) or Yurii Khomchenko ([email protected]). BORDER STATUS UPDATE The following is the border status as of 27 July: • Chaman Border (Spinboldak) – Pakistan/Afghanistan: Closed from 14 July, but it is reported now that open only for truck movement. • Torkham Border (Jalalabad) – Pakistan/Afghanistan: Open for truck movements only. Emergency passengers’ cases (medical). • Hairaton Border (Mazar) – Uzbekistan/Afghanistan: Open for truck movements. Open one way for passengers (only entry to Afghanistan) • Torghundi Border (Hirat) – Turkmenistan/Afghanistan: Closed from 9 July 2021, but it is reported now that open only for fuel consignments. • Islam Qala (Hirat) – Iran/Afghanistan: Closed from 8 July 2021 • Sher Khan Bandar – Tajikistan/Afghanistan: Closed 4. Alternative Corridors • Partners share and exchage the information on the Alternative Corridors. • If any partners have a need to move cargo from Kabul to outlying cities (domestic transport only), one partner has empty trucks leaving Kabul. AOB • Customs issues: A draft letter to Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority (AFDA), to address the concerns on the AFDA’s ban on medical products that are already produced domestically in Afghanistan, has been drafted by PU- AMI, and will be shared with partners for comments and review in the coming days. • Logistics Capacity Assessment (LCA): The LWG is updating the LCA, aiming to complete by the end of August 2021 (25 out of 52 sections updated & published as of now). The LCA is available in Afghanistan - Logistics Capacity Assessment - Digital Logistics Capacity Assessments (logcluster.org). • The latest updates are the 15 sections in below table.
