Due to the rice-paddy on the first fairway, a hastily-convened meeting of members decided that the first hole should be shortened to a forty-five metre par three for the competition round. Given the enormity of the flood damage to the course, it was a miracle that there was any play at all. The hardworking green staff need to be congratulated heartily for their work. Due to the conditions, the advertised Monthly Medal (and Medal of Medallists) was postponed until Sunday, January 30 and a social round was conducted instead. That’s not to say

This was a fun-filled day for the entire family with events including free country music, horse-shoe throwing competition with prize money of $100, six person team tug of war with $200 prize, BBQ and whip-cracking. The Ned Kelly gang arrived to hold-up the pub in the afternoon (the public were taken unawares as the gang collected donations by holding up the customers - this took place at approximately 4.00pm). The public had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Ned Kelly Gang. All monies raised from the day are donated to RACQ Careflight. Secondly, Fred Brophy's Tent Boxing Troupe is appearing at O'Shanley's Irish hotel and restaurant Friday 4th and Saturday 5th of February. Fred Brophy's Boxing Troupe is the last of its kind in the world - as seen on SBS television. This event is in aid of the Queensland Flood Appeal and Clifton Showgirl entrant, Theresa Comerford. A fabulous BBQ dinner is available from 5.30pm. The boxing show starts at 7.30pm, admission $25.
