Round 9 May 10 Sunshine Coast Stadium Under 18 Boys Fire v SWQ Thunder 12:00pm Senior Men Fire v SWQ Thunder 2:15pm www.sunshinecoastfc.com.au From the Managing Director A warm welcome to all supporters and players who have come down to the Sunshine Coast Stadium for the Under 18 Boys and Senior Men’s matches against South West Queensland Thunder. After both teams’ games against Redlands United being postponed last week due to inclement weather, everyone is looking forward to today’s games. Our U18’s are currently on a six game winning streak and sitting in first place on the ladder. The Senior Men are sitting in fourth place and hoping to gain their fourth win in a row today. The Under 18 Boys kick off the day at 12.00pm followed by the Senior Men at 2.15pm. The Kick for Cash competition is back at half time of the Senior Men’s game. Make sure you put your name in to enter because the winner today will move on to the next stage of the competition. We also would like to thank all the mothers from home and away, who work hard to get their children to training and games each and every week. Your commitment and dedication doesn’t go unnoticed. Have a great day of football and thanks for all your support. Happy Mother’s Day! GO THE FIRE!! Email: [email protected] www.sunshinecoastfc.com.au From the Technical Director of Coaching With an eventful couple of weeks since my last TD report which has seen all teams away on the weekend of 25th & 26th April again proved fruitful for all our junior and senior teams male and female, then the following weekend both U18’s Boys and Senior Men games postponed due to the adverse weather which meant it was left to the Senior women and junior boys and girls to keep the flag flying for the club in which each and every age group did the club proud by seeing off Palm Beach (Boys) and then the girls putting Eastern Suburbs to the sword over at Western Fields. As always giving credit where credit is due watching the Senior women put what I believe to be the best performance thus far this season to an equally impressive Eastern Suburbs who were yet to lose a game this campaign, saw the Fire ladies take a well deserved 3 points. Away from the games program we have 5 of our U13’s boys still training for potential Futsal Nationals later in the year and we have 7 of our U14’s boys that have been invited to train for selection for the State U14’s Boys squad, the re-launch of the highly successful SCFC squirts program this week has seen boys and girls from 3 – 5 years of age with a ball at their feet and a smile on their face at venues Peregian Beach College (an SCFC Fire Sponsor) and we thanks them for allowing us to use their impressive football facilities and also Kawana Sports Precinct both of which run parallel on a Wednesday afternoon after-school in which we still have some spaces available. Our Elite Academy program which is increasing its capacity with an influx of players who are now being exposed to training at NPL level in readiness for open trials later in the year sees both girls and boys benefitting from the program which serves as a potential conveyor belt of our next U12’s Boys & U13’s Girls for next seasons campaign. We have also been successful in being accredited as an official AIA Miniroo’s Kick-off program and an AIA Miniroos Football Club which will see SCFC increase our participant personnel to ensure we are both servicing the players who wish to participate in a fun filled environment without the game (Kick-Off Program, and then with the games program which will add the competitive learning environment which will see us running our own mini leagues and compete with our own festivals against other AIA Miniroos Football Clubs. Finally to finish off, our tour partner Sunshine Coast Tours has a full comprehensive list of up and coming tours in 2015 / 2016. I look forward to seeing you all at the games. Melvyn Wilkes Technical Director of Coaching Sunshine Coast FC From the Senior Men’s Coach This weekend’s game against Thunder, I'm expecting a tough encounter even though Thunder have only 1 point so far this season. They are a new and young side just like ourselves but I'm hoping after our last 3 wins and performances the players are confident enough to know if we keep doing the right things and make no silly mistakes we can be a match for most teams in this league. Week after week we have to make sure we are prepared right and ready to battle and scrap for every point. Our boys have given everything they have in each game up to now so we’re hoping for an entertaining game and to come away with another win . Paul Arnison Senior Men's Coach Sunshine Coast FC From the Under 18 Boys Coach I would like to welcome our visitors from South West Queensland Thunder, I hope the game is enjoyable for all spectators. The Fire boys have really started to click in the past few weeks playing attacking football which has been great to watch, their discipline in the back third has also been encouraging. We are currently on a 6 game winning streak and competition for places is fierce in all positions, the depth in the squad is a good headache for me. The last 2 games we have played have been top of the table clashes and the boys showed that they belong at the top. I'm expecting Thunder to be a tough challenge for us. They will have their sights set on taking points off us. Best of luck to both teams.
