It features the top local talent NSW has to offer and is a critical pathway from local to national football. As we enter the eleventh season of the NSW Premier League we can reflect on the past ten years of development and growth in the competition. Year on year the NSW Premier League is regarded as Australia’s number one nursery of talent, producing tomorrow’s A-League stars. Players, such as Panny Nikas (North Queensland Fury), Matthew Ryan (Central Coast Mariners), Iain Ramsay (Adelaide United), Hirofumi Moriyasu (Sydney FC) and Dimitri Petratos (Sydney FC), as well as Coaches, such as Phil Moss (Central Coast Mariners), have all moved on from the NSW Premier League in 2010 to leave a significant impression on the 2010/2011 A-League season. Such achievements are in no small part due to the interest and enthusiasm of those in the media, whether you are with one of the major national or metropolitan media organisations, regional or suburban media or community/niche media. As a media representative, you play a key role in helping us ensure the sport, the competition, the players, the referees, the coaches and the clubs are part of what NSW football public talk about and importantly want to be part of throughout the season. I trust that the 2011 NSW Premier League Media Guide will be of significant assistance to you this season. We value and appreciate the contribution of the media in promoting our game and thank you for your commitment in season 2011. I also encourage you to contact the Football NSW Media and Communications department for further help or information at any time. I can assure you we value and appreciate the contribution you make to our game. Thank you for your commitment to football; and best wishes for the season. As in the past, the continual support from the media is an essential component of the overall success of the competition. Our goal is to ensure that the NSW Premier League receives coverage in a wide range of mediums and publications throughout NSW. These Media Guidelines are issued to ensure we provide the working media with the best possible opportunity to report both accurately and immediately from each match and to enable you to fulfil your working requirements. For us to achieve these goals we require your co-operation and support. Media passes are strictly for personnel authorised to hold Media Accreditation and must only be used while the holder is working at the game. Lodgement of a Football NSW media accreditation application form constitutes an agreement by the authorising media organisation and any person seeking accreditation to abide by the conditions as set out in the Football NSW Rules and Regulations. 10 www.nswpl.com.au Media Accreditation The Football NSW Media and Communications Department manages all media and photographer accreditations for Football NSW Competitions. All media that require a media accreditation pass must complete a ‘Football NSW Media Accreditation Application Form’. Applications close on the 11th of April, 2011. The pass is non-transferable. MEDIAGUIDELINES No television crew, film crew, or commercial video production company may shoot any footage of any official Football NSW matches without first obtaining permission in writing from Football NSW. This includes ‘stand-ups’ or ‘pieces to camera’ with the crowd, stadium and/or game in the background. Only Football NSW passes are valid at Football NSW fixtures. Football Federation Australia (formerly, Australian Football Association or Football Australia) media passes will not be observed as official accreditation. Spokespersons Media seeking interviews with club representatives should contact the relevant media contact. Media seeking comment from Football NSW on any issue should contact the Media and Communications Department in the first instance. Referees A Football NSW representative, match referee, or any other official, is not available to comment on any matter which is, or is likely to be, one for consideration within the Football NSW disciplinary context. Media Contacts The Football NSW Media and Communications Department is responsible for coordinating all media activity regarding the NSW Premier League. Each club has a designated contact responsible for the media activity of the club as well as attending to media enquires related to the club. Details of each club’s media representative are provided at the beginning of each club’s section in this guide. Filming of Football NSW Fixtures No person may film Football NSW fixtures for any commercial use, without first obtaining prior written approval from the Football NSW Media and Communications Department, at least 24 hours prior to such vision being sought. Television News crews are permitted to film fixtures for editorial and non-advertising purposes at the discretion of the host club or the Football NSW Media and Communications Department. Written approval may be necessary prior to such vision being sought. Press The Football NSW media pass will provide access to all Football NSW venue media areas on match days, including the press box and post match media conference room. At no point is access permitted to the dressing rooms or the field of play before, during or after the match, without the permission of a Football NSW or club official. Importantly, access to Media Boxes is for working, accredited media only. In the event of overcrowding in a media box at a game venue, preference will be given to immediate deadline press. www.nswpl.com.au 11 Photographers Photographic accreditation to cover the NSW Premier League 2011 season will only be granted on the express condition that photographs taken at all Football NSW authorised matches, official events or any event or occasion which displays Football NSW logos shall be used only for editorial and non-advertising purposes and MEDIAGUIDELINES not for any commercial purpose other than as specified in the ‘Football NSW Media Accreditation Application Form’ (For the avoidance of doubt, commercial purposes include using photographs for licensing endorsements, merchandising, memorabilia or marketing). For the duration of the match, excluding team-line up shots pre kick-off, all accredited photographers must remain behind the perimeter fence. Permission for accredited photographers to shoot from the sidelines is at the discretion of match officials. The only exception to this rule is Football NSW's Official Photographer, who will be clearly identified, and is able to shoot from either sideline. Bibs shall be worn at all times whilst within the perimeters of the stadium and will only be issued by the home match officials to photographers accredited by Football NSW. Whilst within the perimeters of the stadium, photographer’s bibs must not be covered up by any other clothing (in case of inclement weather, etc, bibs must be worn OVER any other clothing). The use of artificial lighting by photographers in the form of flashlight is strictly prohibited. Disregard of any of the above will lead to the revoking of Photographers Accreditation. 12 www.nswpl.com.au Match Reports Football NSW will file match report media releases to all relevant news agencies each Monday; following the weekends fixtures. Match reports will contain exclusive content from the team coach, captain and/or significant player from the match. In addition to an email media release, all match reports will also appear on the relevant Football NSW website within twelve (12) hours of completion. MEDIAGUIDELINES Media Preview
