Set Sail for Success with the WCEF Spring Gala!

The WCEF board is pleased to announce its spring gala will be held from 5:30-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at El Meson. The theme for the event is “Set Sail for Success” and will feature winners of both the Foundation’s Distinguished Service Hall of Fame and Excellence in Education awards. Additionally, the Foundation will announce the recipients of its teacher grant program for the 2013-14 school year. The gala will provide an opportunity for past grant winners to share information about their projects and will also include a silent auction. WCEF is a non-profit organization, and proceeds from the event will be used to fund future educational grants. More information about this celebration of the successful partnership between WCEF and the West Carrollton Schools will be available throughout the spring. Save the date and make plans to attend.

From the President ... As we approach the end of 2012, the Board of Trustees would like to thank all of the supporters and friends of the West Carrollton Education Foundation (WCEF) for your support. This has been another successful year of fulfilling the mission to provide private funding to enhance the experience of our students, and recognize individuals for their contributions to our students and schools. During the April awards and recognition celebration, WCEF presented grants totaling more than $5100. Bill Cost and Tom Langford were recognized for their distinguished service within our school community, and teachers Melissa Thompson and Brenda Milano were inducted into the Guiler Fellowship. The 2013 celebration will be held on Thursday evening, April 25th, at El Meson. Please mark the date on your calendar and plan to attend. Finally, the grants awarded by WCEF are possible because of the generosity of our donors. Please consider a tax-deductible gift to WCEF as we close out 2012. Thank you for your support!

Previous Grant Winner Updates...

“Our team was awarded a grant from the WCEF last year for our Fun Friday program. We alternate activities each week for those students who not only turn in their homework, but also are building assets each day. We are using our grant money to buy materials for games and crafts, and ingredients for cooking. Attached are some pictures of October Fun Fridays. We played "mummy" relay races with toilet paper one week, painted a pumpkin patch the next week, and made "Frankenstein" pudding cups last week. The students are motivated to do well so that they can enjoy these fun activities thanks to your organization's generosity”.— The 3rd Grade Team at Frank Nicholas (Mindy Balster, Jessica Hannigan, Robin Strader) I am a Pirate!

The West Carrollton Education Foundation is reaching out to Pirates everywhere to create an “I am a Pirate!” campaign. The purpose of the campaign is to link the success of our graduates to the future and potential of our current students; to do this we are compiling a gallery of portraits of Pirate graduates to hang in buildings throughout the district. We want our current students and their parents to see tangible evidence of how setting clear goals, working hard and persevering can lead to a successful life adventure. A successful Pirate life adventure! Stay tuned for more information about the “I am a Pirate!” campaign which will kick-off at the beginning of 2013. West Carrollton Education Foundation 430 E.
