► Spain ARTE is partner of the Seville European Film Festival (4 th to 11 th November)

ARTE is partner of the Seville European Film Festival. This year, the guest of honour was Russia. ARTE was also turning the spotlight on this country with the screening of four programmes about Russia :

Le dissident du KGB by Nicolas Jallot La toundra des enfants perdus by Jérôme de Missolz and Marie Brunet-Debaines Slava’s Snowshow –Show created and staged by Slava Polunin. And filmed by Dominique Thiel Horizons lointains - Moscou by Xavier Lefebvre

There were six other ARTE co-productions on the Sevillian programme :

An Amos Gitai retrospective featuring : Kippour Alila News from Home

On 7 th November ARTE hosted a gala premiere of Aki Kaurismaki’s Le Havre. André de Margerie, Director of ARTE France’s International Relations Department attended the premiere. The screening was followed by a cocktail party which brought many European and Spanish TV industry professionals together.

► Egypt 4th Panorama of the European Film/ Cairo (23rd November to 29th November)

For the first time, ARTE France will support the 4 th Panorama of the European Film which will take place in Cairo.

ARTE’s special line-up will comprise :

Polisse by Maïwenn Melancholia by Lars von Trier Chroniques d'un Iran interdit by Manon Loizeau Le Caire, mère et fils by Mustapha Hasnaoui Cuba, une odyssée africaine by Jihan El Tahri

Jihan El Tahri and Manon Loizeau will go to Cairo to present their films and discuss them with Egyptian filmgoers and fellow film makers.

► Italy TorinoFilmLab Meeting Event (27th November to 28 th November)

In 2008, the TorinoFilmLab launched a series of annual training workshops designed to enhance the skills of emerging writers, directors and producers. This year, again, the writing and pitching training sessions culminate in the TorinoFilmLab Meeting Event, which sees the trainees present their projects in Turin to a large gathering of producers, buyers and film professionals invited by the TorinoFilmLab.

Michel Reilhac, Executive Director of ARTE France Cinéma and Annamaria Lodato, Head of Communications for the International Relations Department of ARTE France, will go to Turin to award the International Relations ARTE Prize to the best project of feature film. www.torinofilmlab.it

► The Czech Republic French Film Festival in the Czech Republic (24 th November to 30 th November)

Working in partnership with ARTE France, the French Institute in Prague will be launching the 14 th edition of the French Film Festival. This event allows spectators in eight Czech towns to enjoy French film releases. The dominant theme this year will be “love”.

► Argentina ARTE Prize at Doc Buenos Aires / Latin Side of the Doc (6 th December to 8 th December)

The International Relations ARTE Prize will be awarded to the best documentary film project selected at the “Forum for Documentary Film Production” organized by Doc Buenos Aires/Latin Side of the Doc. The Prize is worth € 3,000.

Hélène Coldefy, Director of Specialist Factual Department, Anne Charbonnel, Commissioning Editor for the Society and Culture Department and Alec Hermann, Pre- sales Manager, will be in attendance to represent ARTE France at this event.

The International Relations ARTE Prize will be awarded to the best feature film project presented at the « Dubaï Film Connection », a market which aims at promoting Arab cinema and strengthening the ties between Middle Eastern and international professionals.

Rémi Burah , Deputy CEO of ARTE France Cinema and Managing Director of ARTE/COFINOVA, and Annamaria Lodato, from ARTE France’s International Relations Department, will be present in Dubai.

ARTE is renewing its support to the Rencontres Cinématographiques de Bamako. The theme this year will be « Cultures and Citizenships ». 5
