'Aqua Aquaria India 2017' Participation of Mormugao Base of Fishery Survey of India, Goa in ‘Aqua Aquaria India 2017’ The fourth edition of three day biennial event “Aqua Aquaria India 2017” was organised by Marine Products Exports Development Authority (MPEDA), at Nehru Maidan, Mangalore, Karnataka during 14th to 16th May 2017. The event was inaugurated by Shri. Pramod Madhawraj, Honorable Minister of Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment, Government of Karnataka. The Keynote address was delivered by Shri. Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament from Dakshina Kannada. “Aqua Aquaria India 2017” was organised for the first time in the West coast of the country and more than 3000 delegates with over 250 stalls widely representing National, International, Private and Public Stakeholders and Researchers from India and abroad were participated. Mormugao Base of FSI represented the institution in the above said event by setting up an exhibition stall that portrayed the mandate, objectives, research activities and the significance of the institute in the field of marine fisheries research, development and policy making in the marine fisheries sector. FSI stall was visited by various dignitaries namely: Commissioner of Fisheries, Govt. of Maharashtra, Dr. G. Gopakumar, Emeritus Scientist, CMFRI, Dr. T. T. Ajith Kumar, Senior Scientist, NBFGR, Prof. Dr. I. S. Bright Singh, FNAAS, CUSAT, The Joint Director of Fisheries, Govt. of Kerala and other dignitaries from various Central and State Govt. Departments. Students from College of Fisheries, Mangalore, various school & colleges nearby Mangalore; fishermen from various states like, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat etc also visited the stall. Dr. Pradeep H. D., Fisheries Scientist and Shri. Solly Solomon, Sr. Scientific Assistant explained the activities and services offered by the FSI to the visitors. FSI publications on Major Fishery Resources of Indian EEZ were in high demand from entrepreneurs, students and other public. .
