Padma Kuma r , Principal / D ean, YPC INTRODUCTION Yenepoya Physiotherapy College was established in 2003 under t he Islamic Academy of Education Trust (IAE) and the college is affiliatedajiv to Gandhi R University of Hea lth Sciences. It is a constituent college of Yenepoya University sincear the2009. ye The college offers Under Graduate (BPT), Postgraduate (MPT) and Doctoral programmesD). The annual (Ph intake for th e BPT (Bachelor in Physiotherapy) and MPT (Masters in rsePhysiotherapy) are 60 and 10Cou respecti vely. Postgraduate courses have since begun in 5 branchesces, viz.,Cardio Neuroscien Pulmonary scien ces, Orthopaedics & Sports, Pediatrics and Manual therapy. The Yenepoya Physiotherapy College is well known for its discipline quality education and clinical research, thus ensuring the quality of teaching, learning and services to the society and the country as a whole. The College is well staffed and furnished. Didactic classes are conducted in 4 spacious lecture halls & small group discussions in 2 seminar halls. There are 2 well equipped laboratories: the electrotherapy laboratory and the therapeutics laboratory. The clinical section of the Physiotherapy College is housed in Yenepoya Medical College Hospital (YMCH) and is well equipped with advanced equipments. The college building houses separate common rooms for boys and girls. I. ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES CPE / SEMINARS / WORKSHOPS CONDUCTED 1. 5 days National Workshop on “Advanced Integrated Soft Tissue Techniques for Upper and Lower Quadrant” was conducted on 11th to 15th December 2012 at Indoor Auditorium, academic Block, YMC. Dr. P.Chandramohan, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, YU, presided over the inaugural function, Prof. Pearlson, MPT (AUS), President; Federation of Indian Manual Therapist Bangalore was the resource person. 30 delegates attended the hand on training workshop. Annual Report-2012-13 523 2. “The International Day of Persons With Disability” was organised by Yenepoya Physiotherapy College on 3rd December 2012. Dr. P. Chandra Mohan Hon'ble Vice Chancellor inaugurated the function and distributed ambulatory aids to the poor patients. Prof. K.P. Jayarajan,Controller of Examination & NSS Coordinator of Yenepoya University was the Chief guest. Students of Yenepoya Physiotherapy College along with NSS Volunteers conducted series of events such as Model Presentation, Skit & Poster competitions. Prof. Dr. Radha Y Aras, HOD, CommunityMedicine, Prof. Dr. Kedilaya, HOD, Biochemistry, Dr. Bhagya B Sharma, Lecturer, Anatomy and Mr. Shaik Abdul Rahim, Vice Principal, YPC were the judging panel for the competitions In these programmes the students exhibited various innovative methods to assist the people with disability and depicted the problems faced by the disabled people in the community through skits to create awareness in our society. WORKSHOP/ CONFERENCE ATTENDED FACULTY Mr. Mohamed Sherif Sirajudeen, Assoc. Prof., has participated as Scientific Committee Member for Neuraxis 2012, a National Neuro physiotherapy Colloquium organized by Fr. Muller College of Physiotherapy on 23rd & 24th of November 2012. Mrs. Nigath Fathima, Ms.Nazia Shaik, Mrs. Veena pais and Mr. Rasheed had attended 5 days National Workshop on “Advanced Integrated Soft Tissue Techniques for Upper and Lower Quadrant” conducted by Yenepoya Physiotherapy College on 11th to 15th December 2012 Prof. S. Mr. Mohamed sheriff Sirajudeen, Assoc.Prof attended, 2nd “Singapore Rehabilitation Conference” held on 27 & 28 February, 2013 in Singapore. Mr. Mohamed Sherif Sirajudeen, Assoc. Prof, attended, Asia Pacific Neuro Rehabilitation Symposium on 1st March 2013 in Singapore. Mrs. Umama Nisar Shah and Mrs.Veena Pais attendede “Metabolic Syndrome” Pathophysiology and Lifestyle Modifications on 27.04.2013 at Yenepoya Medical College, Mangalore. Prof. S.
