  • International Military Cartridge Rifles and Bayonets
INTERNATIONAL MILITARY CARTRIDGE RIFLES AND BAYONETS The following table lists the most common international military rifles, their chambering, along with the most common bayonet types used with each. This list is not exhaustive, but is intended as a quick reference that covers the types most commonly encountered by today’s collectors. A Note Regarding Nomenclature: The blade configuration is listed, in parentheses, following the type. There is no precise dividing line between what blade length constitutes a knife bayonet vs. a sword bayonet. Blades 10-inches or shorter are typically considered knife bayonets. Blades over 12-inches are typically considered sword bayonets. Within the 10-12 inch range, terms are not consistently applied. For purposes of this chart, I have designated any blade over 12 inches as a sword bayonet. • Plinker 12-2010
December 2010 MISSION STATEMENT The object of this organization shall be the encouragement of organized rifle, shotgun and pistol shooting among resi- dents of our community, with a view toward better knowledge on the part of citizens of our community of the safe han- dling and the proper care of firearms, and the development of those characteristics of honesty, good fellowship, self dis- cipline and self reliance that are the essentials of good sportsmanship and the foundation of true patriotism. Turkeys in the Fog!!! It may have been only cloudy to start out but with the Free Trappers 'making smoke' on line it quickly became a bit difficult to see down the range. In consideration of limited visibility and small tar- gets a new feature was added. Courtesy of Hunter's Tree Farm, a line of small gourds was estab- lished as rifle targets granting a 'mulligan" on the more distant rifle targets for a nominal fee. This fea- ture added humor and excitement and may be reintroduced for rifle or other special events. The Rain- Dee-Voo rifle for raffle was introduced and tickets are now on sale. This raffle includes a shooting bag donated by Mike Nesbitt and a Powder horn from Steve Skillman along with the Traditions St Louis Hawken Rifle. The number thirteen was not unlucky apparently as that number of shooters on site had a pretty good day. "Lucky Shooter" awards went to Steve Andrews for the turkey head target and to Adam Sampson for the Poker cards with a queen high straight flush. Individual matches, rewarded by appro- priate turkey related items were won by: 1.

From the secretaries desk Gun Show another successful gun show, made easier by the members who put in helping transport all the tables and equip- ment to the hall, installing the town entrance signs, laying out the tables, helping the dealers setup and then packing it all away again. Well done everyone. Full report next Fridays meeting. Newsletter changed it around a bit. “Achtung” is now the secretaries report section and will be in every issue. The club cal- endar will be on the inside back cover of every issue, and hopefully up to date. No one has anything to sell , and no one wants to buy anything so I’ve dropped the “Trading Post” section, we will replace the trading post with spot ads on request. There is a new column “cutting Edge” for you knife enthusiasts, someone better come up with some articles or you are all going to get sick of Randall knives all the time. Melbourne Gun Show - Guild Bus Tour Next weekend 13-14 April (see advertisement page 8) we will be running a bus on Saturday there are still some seats available.
