Zunächst gewann Gesamtweltcup-Titelverteidigerin Ricarda Funk (Bad Kreuznach) das Rennen der Damen im Kajak-Einer trotz zweier Strafsekunden für eine Torstabberührung im mittleren Teil der Strecke. „Es war ein megacooles Gefühl“, beschrieb Ricarda Funk ihren Finallauf, in den sie als Halbfinalschnellste als letzte der zehn Damen gestartet war. „Wenn man Fans und Freunde am Rand hört, wie sie einen anfeuern und dich runterschreien – einfach megacool. Und wenn man dann noch ins Ziel kommt und sieht, dass man Erste ist – unbeschreiblich. Ein Heimspiel ist nicht immer ein Vorteil, wenn man die Strecke gut kennt, denkt man auch mehr darüber nach, was passieren kann. Hinter dem siegreichen Slowaken Matej Benus belegten der Augsburger Lokalmatador Sideris Tasiadis und Franz Anton (Leipzig) den Silber- und Bronzerang. „Mich ärgern die Strafsekunden am drittletzten Tor, aber das sehe ich sportlich“, meinte Sideris Tasiadis, „jetzt stehe ich im Gesamtweltcup ganz gut da, punktgleich mit dem heutigen Sieger, darüber bin ich sehr glücklich.“ Auch Franz Anton war mit Bronze sehr zufrieden: „Ich hatte einen Fehler und bin dennoch zufrieden, weil ich danach ziemlich ruhig geblieben bin und noch ziemlich viel rausgeholt habe.
