British Canoeing – Canoe Slalom International Panel – 2020 Tokyo Olympic Team Selection Nominations to British Olympic Association for Canoe Slalom Following the completion of the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships at La Seu D’Urgell, the following nominations will be made to the British Olympic Association for ratification to Team GB for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The announcement of the Canoe Slalom members of Team GB will be made by the British Olympic Association on 10th October 2019: MK1 WK1 MC1 WC1 Bradley Forbes-Cryans Kimberley Woods Adam Burgess Mallory Franklin Reserve Reserve Reserve Reserve Joseph Clarke Fiona Pennie David Florence Kimberley Woods All selections are subject to written confirmation from ICF that Great Britain has qualified an athlete quota place in each event at the 2019 World Championships and subject to appeals and ratification by the British Olympic Association. The following athletes are selected to attend the Olympic Test Event in Tokyo, JPN: MK1 WK1 MC1 WC1 Bradley Forbes-Cryans Kimberley Woods Adam Burgess Mallory Franklin Appeals There is a full right of appeal but due to the tight timing between the announcement of the nominations and the date of travel to the Olympic Test Event, there will be a modified timeline in place which has been determined by the British Canoeing Head of Governance. The British Canoeing 2019 Canoe Slalom Senior 2020 Olympic Selection Policy will apply with the following modifications to Appendix 1: 1. STAGE 1: REVIEW 1.1/1.2 A written request for formal review must be submitted by 09.00am on Tuesday 1st October to the Head of Governance [email protected]. This will be reviewed by the International Panel in consultation with Programme leads. 1.3 The International Panel will advise in writing the outcome of the review and the decision reached by 2.00pm on Wednesday 2nd October. 2. STAGE 2: APPEAL 2. If, following the formal review, the Athlete wishes to formally appeal the decision, then a written Notice of Appeal must be submitted by them to British Canoeing Head of Governance by 9.00am on Friday 4th October 2019. The appeal panel will aim to confirm its decision in writing to the Athlete by 5.00pm on Monday 7th October. If, due to the number of appeals received or the complexity of a particular appeal, this timeframe cannot be met, the Athlete will be informed as soon as possible. The latest date an Athlete will be advised of the outcome of their appeal is Wednesday 9th October. The level of professionalism and integrity delivered by athletes, their families, support teams and coaches in the process has reflected the culture and teamwork in the Canoe Slalom programme and all athletes and coaches are a credit to themselves and to British Canoeing.
