REQUESTS FOR PRAYERS Deceased Clergy Association of the Westminster Province: Please pray for the repose of the soul of Father Brian Heaney, a priest of the Archdiocese of Westminster, who died on 26th February 2013. Mass will be offered on Wednesday 26th June for the repose of his soul. May he rest in peace. URGENT PRAYER: We continue to pray for the people of Syria, over a million refugees and displaced people, during this time of strife and struggle for a free society without fear; where the human rights of everyone is upheld and respected so that all may live in safety and peace. As the situation in Syria deepens we must pray that the international community can get both sides together to seek a solution for peace before it spreads to o neighbouring countries.. IN THANKSGIVING: We give God thanks for the priests who are celebrating special jubilees this year: Golden Jubilee – Provost Canon Michael Bell, Fr Paul Entwistle [Retired], Fr Eamonn O’Hara, Monsignor Joseph Phelan, Fr Bill Saunders [Retired]. Ruby Jubilee – Fr Frank Higgins. Silver Jubilee – Fr John Cairns, Fr Jude Eze (on loan from Nigeria, working at present in Derby). We praise and thank the Lord for their years of priestly service and ministry in the Diocese. We offer them our congratulations and pray that they will be blessed with many more years. CYCLE OF PRAYER: During Ordinary Time until September we are asked to pray for these intentions: a deeper understanding between Christians and Jews; those who suffer persecution, oppression and denial of human rights; Europe; human life; Seafarers and their families. INTENTIONS OF POPE FRANCIS FOR JUNE: General: That international attention towards the poorer countries may give rise to more concrete help, in particular to relieve them of the crushing burden of foreign debt. Mission: That Christian Communities may effectively promote a new evangelization where secularization is strongest.
