A film review

The movie "" was adapted from a book with the same name, writt en by . The movie was directed by Tetsuro Araki. The movie is about , he is an intelligent young adult who resents all things evil. He a lso wishes to end crime in the world and create a utopia in which he reigns supr eme. His life undergoes a drastic change when he discovered a mysterious noteboo k known as "Death Note", lying on the ground. The Death Note`s instructions clai m that if a person name is written in while picturing that person`s face, that p erson shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the notebook1s autenticity, but after several experiments with the Death Note, Light realizes the notebook's au thenticity and encounters the previous owner, a shinigami called . Light exp lains to Ryuk his plan of exterminating all the criminals in the world, until th ere are only people who he has judged to be honest and kind. Once he finishes th is, Light seeks to became the "God of the New World" by passing his judgement on those he deems to be evil or who get in his way. Soon, the number of inexplicab le deaths of criminals catches the attention of the International Police Organiz ation and the world-famous detective, "". L quickly learns that the serial kill er, publicly known as "Kira", derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the wor d "killer", is located in Japan and can kill people without laying a finger on t hem. Light realizes that L will be his greatest nemesis, and begins a cat and mo use game with L. L manages to confront Light live on T.V., and deduces he is in the Kanto region of Japan. Light attempts to create an alibi by helping L and h is investigate team track down Kira. His plan is impeded by a second Kira, famou s model , and her shinigami Rem. Misa and Light meet and work together , and become increasingly suspected by L. To save themselves from execution, Mis a and Light temporarily relinquish control of their Death Noteserasing their memo ries of the shinigami and the notebooksand are placed under constant surveillance by L. During their detention, a third Kira under the employ of the Yotsuba Grou p appears. Light and Misa are freed when it becomes apparent that they are not r esponsible for the murders of Yotsuba's rivals. The investigative team infiltrat e Yotsuba and discover the third Kira is Yotsuba member Kyosuke Higuchi and atte mpt to capture him. Upon Higuchi's capture, Light regains ownership of the "Deat h Note" "just as [he] planned" and kills Higuchi, while the investigative team l earn of the Death Notes and shinigami. Light completes his complex plan by manip ulating Rem into killing both L and herself. Light becomes the "new L" upon L's death, and continues a charade of searching for Kira. The narrative continues fo ur years later, with Kira attracting a large network of contacts and a swell of public support. Two children, Near and , raised by L's former guardian Wata ri to follow L's legacy, serve as antagonists to Light: Near as an independent d etective; and Mello as a member of the Mafia. Mello's first action to oppose Kir a is to kidnap the director of Japan's National Police Agency, and after his mur der, Light's sister Sayu, to use as a bargaining chip to obtain the Death Note. Light's task force recapture Sayu and learn Mello's real name after Light's fath er Soichiro trades half of his remaining life to Ryuk for the ability to discove r anyone's names, but Soichiro later dies of gunshot wounds. Concurrently, Near and several members of the task force begin to suspect Light of being Kira. In r esponse, Light persuades Misa to give up her Death Note and raises another "Kira ", Teru Mikami, a prosecutor and fervent supporter of Kira. Mikami kills Kira's former spokesman for being greedy and recruits Kiyomi Takada, a newscaster and L ight's former girlfriend, to replace him. Mello returns and kidnaps Kiyomi, who manages to kill Mello with a hidden Death Note piece. Light then makes Kiyomi co mmit suicide to prevent her from implicating him, but Mikami, unaware of Light's actions, attempts to kill her with his own Death Note. Near reveals that he rep laced Mikami's notebook with a fake, and by the names written in it is able to p rove Light is Kira. In desperation, Light tries to use the last Death Note piece in his watch to kill the rest of the task force, but Matsuda shoots him several times. Realizing Light has lost, Ryuk uses his Death Note to kill Light with a heart attack, which is a part of their original agreement. What I liked the most of this movie was Light Yagami`scharacter evolutio n. First when we meet him, he`s just an ordinary high school student with good g rades and in time he transforms in what he love to call himself "GOD". "Death No te" is definitely one of the best movies ever! The plot is unique. A misterous n otebook that kills the individual pictured in his mind. This presents the views with a higly debatable theme based on morals and justice. Yagami Light, who obta in this power to kill, utilizes it in hopes of creating utopia in which he is Go d. Criminals, and only criminals, are to be punished in hope of a perfect societ y. Is this however right? Is right to kill individuals who have done wrong and w ill do wrong again? Death Note presents the viewer with these questions such as these, questions which cannot be easly answered. Light Yagami is forced to plY a chair gripping game of cat and mouse with those who seek to detain him. I liked this part most, because it`s shows more of Light psihological personality. All the characters are forever alive, even those episodic characters that only appea rs for 2-3 minutes, are memorable of their complexity. The good and the evil are a perfect matching in this story. What I din`t like of this movie was too little, because the plot is perf ect the way it is. But all the perfect stories have their bad parts too, am I ri ght? One of the negative points is that at the end when light is cough off guard by Near, at that point Light was devastated. He exagerated with his "God" thing too much, with all his perfection in world. Good without evil destroy us, in my point of view. I recommend this movie to all people, it has a great original plot, and a very complex psychical fight between many geniuses and the police. You should watch this movie, I`m sure you`ll like it to death!
